Suddenly having a tough time, looking for support

over the weekend I started feeling pretty bad health wise. I was tingly over my whole body and my vision was a little funny. I got my blood pressure taken at Walgreens and low and behold it was 155/107! I called my ob and he suggested a visit to the hospital. I had to stay over night to monitor my blood pressure and see the high risk doctor. I had a follow up appointment on Wednesday where I was perscribed bp medicine and also found out I have gestational diabetes!!! Before getting pregnant I was on a few medications for anxiety and depression, although I feel ok mentally without the medicine, all of this at once is very stressful. I am a first time mom at 26, and very nervous!!! I had a lot of morning sickness in the first trimester and still a little to this day at 29 weeks so. I haven't not gained any weight. I'm actually 10 pounds under my starting weight so it is a surprise to me to end up with diabetes and high blood pressure from this pregnancy

The good news is the baby is great he's growing fine and everything else involving the baby is fine as of now. If my blood pressure stays elevated they are thinking he may come a little earlier than planned! I hope not. 

If anyone has any insight or similar experience I would appreciate a chat. I need some support

    I don't have experience with this stuff but just wanted to say I'm sorry these struggles have popped out of the woodwork. I think it's okay to be upset, just know it's not anything you did or didn't do - pregnancy is crazy! Stay on top of it and I hope it turns out to be a not too difficult adjustment for you.

    I haven't had anything like that yet. Although, at a recent doctor visit, my bp was 152/96, but they didn't seem all that concerned... I laid down a bit and it went down. I have had some slightly higher bp than I normally do and I am trying not worry. Problem is my mom had preeclampsia with me and my sister had borderline high bp. So the chance of me having preeclampsia is SUPER HIGH.

    I haven't felt well either. Just overall ill feeling...heart racing uncomfortably, dizzy all the time, some vision problems. But doctor still hasn't said anything against it all. Just "it's normal pregnancy symptoms". So I'll just have to trust her.

    I hate all that you went through, but the best thing is it's caught early and they are monitoring you. My scare is that I am having problems and doctor just blows them off and it get to late to help anything. Since your being monitored, I bet everything will be just fine! Just remember it's not your fault. There isn't anything you can do to help or make it worse. You can be the most healthy person in the world and still get GD. Stay positive as best as you can!

    Welcome to August! We like to keep our boards organized by topic. There is a search function that you can use to search for answers to questions that have already been asked and answered. Better yet, there is a Mental Health Check-in and Gestational Diabetes check-in thread showing up right here on the first page that is better suited for your question. The women in all of these threads are super supportive! Lurk a little bit and please participate in the daily threads. I am sure you will find a lot of support.
