Help! Sleeping terrible this week

My LO has been an ok sleeper. Usually he goes to sleep awake in his crib and may wake up a couple times a night, either goes back to sleep on his own, I give him a pacifier and he goes back to sleep or just put him in bed with us and nurse him for a while. The last few nights he goes to sleep for about an hour and then wakes up screaming. He has been inconsolable, he won't let anyone else hold him, the only thing to get him to stop crying is to nurse him and he is waking up every hour. Anyone else experiencing this? I thought it was teething but he has no trouble during the day with his naps.

    Right here!! It has been awful I am definitely a Mombie this week... It has been literally every hour on the hour. There is one stretch I could get - 4 hours but of course it is when I need to get up for work. My LO's naps have been great this week. I almost started to think he mixed up days and nights. I am thinking we have his the 8-10 month regression?

    I have no advice and would LOVE to have someones because I am right here with you in the sleepless nights seeing every hour and nursing every hour because its the only thing that has been working. On top of that I ended up passing a blood clot the one night and woke him up even more because I thought it was coming from him. I have a doc appointment today to see whats going on...so even nursing has been a struggle when its the only thing that has been working :(

    No words of wisdom but some solidarity here.  LO was finally sleeping through the night for a few weeks then, bam, 8 month sleep regression mixed with a cold.  Been a rough week in our household.

    Seriously. We just got over the four month sleep regression two weeks ago. Meaning he went from waking up every 2-3 hours to just once or twice a night. Then this week he's a sleep monster again. He fights sooooo hard! Kicking, screaming, crying inconsolably. I read that this is the regression that hits at eight months but unlike the four month regression which was a permanent change in sleep cycles, this is a temporary one. They are developing so rapidly at the moment both physically and mentally, the article I read says that they just have trouble turning off for the night. Hopefully this is a quick one because I've been dealing with terrible sleep since the day he was born and I thought it was finally getting better.

    @jweber4747 The kicking and screaming and flailing of all limbs sounds very familiar in this house. It happens right when he starts to get rocked a little before bed with the lights off and sound machine on -- aka his normal cues... he makes it seem like I am forcing him to sit and get shots or something! Glad its part of the 8 month sleep regression and not my child's new temper :( I was getting discouraged like I was doing something wrong... so thank you for that post!

    My little guy (8.5 months) has been waking up once or twice within the first three hours after going to bed and he starts crying hysterically. I used to run in to "rescue" him, but one time I didn't get there immediately and he literally cried for one minute then fell right back asleep. I actually think he's having night terrors! It only occurs during the first few hours of sleep and he wakes up hysterical for no reason and it's hard to get him to calm down.

    @jen83mn, our son has been crying out more in his sleep than usual.  He is currently in Leap 6, and it says that night terrors can begin to occur.  If we leave him, he will go back to sleep usually within a few minutes, just like he has to settle himself and get comfortable again.

    This is us, too! Hitting the 9 month growth spurt a bit early. He's been nursing even more often than usual at night. That's the only thing that stops the screaming. It only lasts a few days, a week at most. I bet you'll be in the clear soon. Good luck!
