I've heard that they are recommending that all pregnant women get certain vaccines during the 2nd/3rd trimester now. I just got the tdap booster shot like 8 months ago, so it seems kind of a waste to me to get it again so soon. I'll bring it up with my doctor at my next appointment, but just wondering if anyone else has already had this convo with her doc and what the doc recommended.

it is standard for the majority of our group to get it around the 30 week mark or so as it helps vaccinate the babies before they are born particularly against pertussis. Even if you have had a booster many dr's reccomend getting it again for that reason and as it is not harmful to the mother to get it again.
Also, flu shot. Get it. It can provide some protection to baby and flu is exceptionally dangerous to the tiniest ones. Influenza also tends to be much more dangerous to pregnant women so please, please for your own safety and that of your baby get the flu shot as soon as it is available.

I distinctly remember asking my doctor about this last pregnancy when I got the shot, and he said that even if I got pregnant a year later I should get the shot again in 3rd tri. However, there was an outbreak in the next state over when I was pregnant.
I also recommend you ask those who will be in close contact with your baby to have the booster if they haven't in the last 10 years. My husband and both my parents got it. It was offered for free by the Ronald McDonald Care Mobile Clinic. Just google to see if there is one in your area.

Hubbs got his booster this Summer because he cut his arm at work, which is good, because he's a whiney baby and wouldn't get it if I just told him to because "It makes his arm sore...wahh wahh" LOL
That was a fun read. I highly recommend it.
