Didn't go as planned...

Had first ultrasound yesterday and the doctor was having a difficult time getting a "good view." When she finally did and froze the frame I immediately thought that it looked very small for 7 weeks and 4 days. More like a 5-6 week u/s. My cycle has gone up to 42 days with an average of 36 which gave me the 12/28 due date. Doctor couldn't get a measurement and sent me for blood work to check hormone levels. I could be a few days ahead but I'm very nervous as we have experienced "this" before. I have my second blood draw tomorrow am really hoping my hormone levels double. (Fingers crossed)

Thank you everyone. I received results from Monday's blood work... HCG levels were at 32k which look spot on. Here's to hoping they double with the results I receive tomorrow.

Sounds like maybe a dating issue? Were you tracking ovulation? If your cycle is 40+ days, you can't really go by LMP to date because that assumes you ovulate around CD 15, since most luteal phases are like 13-14 days for a 29ish day cycle length. I bet you ovulated late and you've added two extra weeks to your count.

@PrettyPalomino My doctor and I think that's the case. When I calculated my EDD originally I used a site that took my cycle length into consideration however I was not tracking ovulation with temperature. Just estimated with app based on cycles. It's funny though because at the beginning of my appt I tried to explain my cycle to the doc and she actually wanted to push my DD up before the u/s.

All in all, the doctor called and stated that my hormones increased to levels that she was very happy about and I am having a follow up u/s later this week. DH and I are very happy as we were feeling deflated earlier in the week as we have had 2 previous MC's and a third one would have really been tough. Thanks for all of your kind words ladies... I am happy to be able to stick around for the time being, even though I think I'll be pushed into January. Guess we'll find out in a couple of days.
