Team Blue Check In

Team Blue Unite!

I was inspired by the Team Green check in. I know those ladies probably need more support since it's such an admirable and difficult (for me!) team to be on but I was hoping us Blue moms could also connect in a fun way. Team pink, want to start your own? If it's totally lame and people don't want to share I get it lol.

First time team blue? Yes, even my pup is a female ;)

How are you feeling about team blue? Raves/Questions? I am seriously so happy. I I smile every time I think about it.

How is your SO feeling about team blue? Raves/Questions? He is stoked!! We both were hoping for a boy (I'm one of two sisters and DH only has sisters) so we are happy for the opportunity to raise a little guy.

Best part of Team Blue thus far?
I'm very girly but I find myself very drawn to the little boy stuff which has been surprising and made me happy. We are making his room a safari theme and just picturing him in there makes me so happy. I also like the idea of my dad having a grandson because my mom says he always wanted to have a boy but ended up with 2 girls! (And we are fabulous btw so he's trippin) lol. I would say the worst part is not having as many options as the team pink does. Every clothing item I see has about 20 options for girls and like 5 for boys. No fair.

    First time team blue?
Well, if you count my furr-baby then no lol!

How are you feeling about team blue? Raves/Questions?
I thought sure in the beginning that I'd be disappointed if we were having a boy- I had always wanted a girl, but a couple of people said they sensed I was having a boy, and I sensed it early on too, so I started to think about it more, and the more I did the more excited I got. It got to the point where I would genuinely be happy either way, and it was actually really exciting to find out my hunch was right! I want to have 3 or 4 kids, so I'm curious to see what we'll get next- and glad that whatever we get, the oldest will be a boy. :)

How is your SO feeling about team blue? Raves/Questions?
As much as he kept quiet about what he wanted, I think he's secretly really excited to have a boy. We have two nieces and a nephew- and he has always loved playing with them. Plus he gets to actually pick a name lol- I've had my girl name since I was a kid, so it's non-negotiable, but I'm open to boys names.

Best part of Team Blue thus far?
The highlights for me so far have been before we knew and I went on a hike after a particularly stressful couple of weeks at work to clear my mind, and I came across a baby blue balloon in the middle of the woods. I thought sure it was a sign, and sure enough it was! The other major highlight was the a/s for sure. The first thing that came up on the screen the moment the technician put the scanner on my belly was this little stinker's junk, because he was ass up, spread eagle, wiggling it around like he was showing it off. The technician was cracking up, and watching DH fly out of the chair in excitement was really great. He's not a very verbal guy, so his actions speak volumes. He was giddy the rest of the appointment, and has since been picking up little things here and there for the baby. It's SO. CUTE.

DH is still taking it a little hard, since he really wants a daughter.  We're hoping to give our boys a little sister in the future.

I don't have to worry about getting a ton of pink/frilly super girly clothes as gifts.

I had already said I didn't want them and put a pink ban in effect before we knew, but I know people would have gotten them for us anyway.

Of course, now I have to deal with people getting things with ridiculous "boy" sayings on them ("hunk," "daddy's wingman," etc.)  But I feel like that's less likely to happen than the girly bomb that was destined to be dropped on me if we'd been Team Pink or Purple.

How are you feeling about team blue? Raves/Questions? I am really excited. I always imagined I'd have a girl first so I was a little surprised when I initially found out we were having a boy, but it's going to be so fun

How is your SO feeling about team blue? Raves/Questions? Over the moon! We found out team blue at 10 weeks after a blood test, but of course there was still uncertainty. I never saw him so happy as when we saw the penis on the ultrasound at the a/s

Best part of Team Blue thus far? So far, I am still trying to get prepared for what life with a newborn will be like and haven't thought much about the best part of having a boy . Since the baby isn't here yet, I guess the best thing is picking out adorable outfits (not that girl outfits aren't cute too)

First time team blue? Second time Team Blue

How are you feeling about team blue? Raves/Questions? I'm excited but was a little bummed at first.  I always wanted a sister growing up since I was the middle child between two brothers.  And I really want to experience having two daughters/want DD to experience a sister relationship.  After losing our second daughter it just intensified that want for another girl.  So while I am so thrilled for a perfectly healthy baby boy, there is a little sadness at missing out on another girl.  I've mostly gotten over it though and we may try for another baby in the future.  But I love him already and I know that feeling will multiply once I see and hold him!

How is your SO feeling about team blue? Raves/Questions? He was very excited to find out we are having a boy.  After two girls in a row I think he was worried we might not have any more boys!

Best part of Team Blue thus far?
Picking his name.  It's a name we've loved and were worried me might not get to use after the last two babies being girls.  I love his name and can't wait until he's here so everyone can call him by name.  (We don't share the name IRL until baby is born).

    Yup

How are you feeling about team blue? Raves/Questions?
I'm excited that baby is growing and is healthy but I'm still a little sad that my oldest won't be a girl. Mostly I'm stressing out about the circumcision. Husband is adamant that we do it but I am absolutely terrified. I don't feel it is necessary, it is extra pain that we are choosing to put our tiny baby through. What about the after care? How long does it take to heal? My friend's sister had a boy not too long ago and apparently he cried for about two weeks because every time he peed it hurt. I can't justify putting the baby (and me) through that just so that he "looks like his dad". Btdt moms, what was your experience? Healing time? Etc

we are also unable to come to an agreement on his name. We had a girl name that we loved from before I got pregnant and we have been going back and forth about boy names since January.

How is your SO feeling about team blue? Raves/Questions?
he is super happy. He is terrified of babies in general but he's excited to teach his son how to do things like is a car and build things. I told him if this was a girl, he should also teach her.

@marikkita12 I have no advice to offer, but I'd love to hear what other people have to say because I'm agonizing over the same decision (x2).  DH is okay with circumcizing or not circumcizing.  I'm just torn.

I don't like the idea of extra pain for our boys or doing something to alter their bodies (without it being medically necessary) without giving them a say-so, but I also keep hearing about the benefits of having them circumcised.  I don't know any men who aren't, so I haven't been able to get first-hand opinions from the "other side," and that's bothering me.

Right now, I think I'm leaning towards circumcision in spite of my concerns, but not for any truly solid, justifiable reason.  I feel like it's the "default" decision (given our geographical location and lack of cultural reasons against it) and so I'm leaning that way because it makes me feel like I'm making the "safe" decision, but then I worry about the aftercare and their future as adults (will they wish I hadn't had it done and left the choice to them?).

How are you feeling about team blue? Raves/Questions?  I was expecting a little girl, so it was a bit jarring to find out I have a little boy inside me!  Also, I feel like it has made the 'baby thing' WAY more real.  A little girl? She's just a little mini-me, no big deal.  A little BOY?!? Well, he'll be a whole separate person from me! (Of course, a girl would also be a separate person... but it probably would have taken me longer to realize it.)

How is your SO feeling about team blue? Raves/Questions? My DH grew up with 3 brothers, and has 1 nephew with another nephew on the way. So... he is over the moon that it is another boy.

How are you feeling about team blue? Raves/Questions? I love it! I'm so excited for my boys to grow up so close in age, 2yrs.  Plus all the clothes, toys, shoes, etc I have for DS1 get to be reused.  We may try for a 3rd baby in a few yrs but if we don't I am perfectly happy being the queen of my castle and to have all of my adoring men to love on me forever :)

How is your SO feeling about team blue? Raves/Questions? DH couldn't be happier! He was scared to death this one would be a girl! He's the oldest of 3 boys and was his moms big boy helper so he is very comfortable and happy playing and goofing around with boys.  DS1 also has 3 boy cousins, all under 4, so the 5 of these boys will have lots of fun growing up together!

Well I don't know why but I could have sworn it was a girl in there. I also read a million different articles on how to figure out the gender ahead of time. So I was shocked to say the least. I knew I would be excited either way because now it feels so much more real and I can finally start putting a registry together.

How is your SO feeling about team blue? Raves/Questions?

He is excited! He told me ahead of time that he would be excited either way. I was so convinced it was a girl though that I think he was shocked also, but he can't wait. He keeps joking that he's taking too long in there and needs to come out now.

  • @runningisrad - I think you'll have time to figure out the boy world.. As you know, babies are babies and sex doesn't make a huge change to start out.  My son, and many other boys I know, have been pretty easy going for the first year. Yes he now loves dirt and digging and getting messy/running around, but that's pretty typical toddler. He's always been a good sleeper, so hopefully if yours is a rambunctious and destructive little minion, it knocks him out for nice long night time sleep.

And think, if he's rambunctious, maybe he'll be energized in the morning and quicker to get ready for school than your daughter?? :D

I have a feeling that regardless of whether this baby turned out male or female, I would've been in for a very different experience. My daughter is super chill, not a daredevil, very cautious. I feel like I am destined to have the polar opposite regardless of sex this time around!!!

How are you feeling about team blue? Raves/Questions?  I wanted a baby and didn't mind either sex.  Oddly enough I knew I was having a boy the minute I seen the pink lines on the strips. • How are you feeling about team blue? Raves/Questions?: I'm getting more used to the idea but I'm gonna be honest: I am a little freaked about having a boy. Don't know what to expect. Will he be rambunctious? Will he be destructive? Is he going to be stinky? I'm growing a penis inside me. That's weird.
YAS! I am so glad I'm not the only person who has actually thought this! I said it out loud to my mom and sister and they looked at me like I was insane lol! Also, love love LOVE the name you picked! :)
    Thank you!!

Totally missed this check in so I'm reviving it!

    First time team blue?
First baby boy of 4 girls!

How are you feeling about team blue? Raves/Questions?
Super excited!! We weren't trying for a baby so he is quite the surprise but apparently God decided it was time to change it up! :-)

How is your SO feeling about team blue? Raves/Questions?
He was pretty shocked at first and was really hoping for another girl but after only a few hours of getting used to the idea he is now a proud to say he has a son.

Best part of Team Blue thus far?
Ok so of all the best parts so far I just like the idea that I can finally say it's a boy. There were a few people who were saying "oh it's gonna be another girl" but I was glad to shut them up! LOL
  • Ok, I'm also going to chime in waaay late, I did just find out I'm team blue over the weekend.
I have also thought many times 'I'm growing a penis inside me' weird!  I have hair on my belly now, in a line above and below my belly button  :D

    Yes

How are you feeling about team blue? Raves/Questions?
I am quite nervous, I think I'm similar to many of you above. I don't know about boy things, hate sports, and never ruff housed.  Not that I really wanted a girl more but I felt like I would know how to handle life issues better for her.  I am quite close with my mom and love our shopping days but I don't want to make my little man pick out dresses with me, or should I?  I think this article expresses some of my thoughts.  Women get praised (as they should) for busting gender stereo types but when men do they get called "gay"  :'(

He actually wanted a girl and was more than vocal about, it got awkward.  He did think it was a boy because I was exhibiting male "his last name" stereotypes.  He is very happy to be a dad and I don't think there was much disappointment.

The thought of dressing him and H up the same, H is totally on board.  Blue is my favorite color by far, there will be sooo much blue.
  • Avoiding work for a few minutes, so I'll play :)

    First time team blue? 2nd!

How are you feeling about team blue? Raves/Questions? I know what to expect and I can reuse everything I already have. It makes things easier and a more compelling argument to my husband about why I should take additional time off from work :)

How is your SO feeling about team blue? Raves/Questions? He was excited! I'm not sure he'd know what to do with a daughter.

Best part of Team Blue thus far?  I guess the whole not needing to buy anything bit..but I'm most looking forward to the relationship my sons build together.

Super excited. I am the oldest of 4 and always wanted an older brother so I am happy our first is a boy. Only fear is playing with him when he gets older. I'm not a big outdoors or get down and dirty girl so know that will change but am so looking forward to it.

How is your SO feeling about team blue? Raves/Questions?
He is beyond excited. He is looking forward to teaching him all part cars and all that boy stuff. He has three brothers and loved it so it is perfect.
Best part of Team Blue thus far?
Getting things picked out for him like the nursery, clothes, and toys. Plus being able to call him well him and by his name.

    Yes, daughter is 4.5

How are you feeling about team blue? Raves/Questions?
Nervous. I know "girl." Boys in our families are crazy hyper & destructive while girls are all pretty calm. My daughter is pretty chill, hoping she'll be a good influence...

He was hoping for another girl too but is excited now about having a boy

Best part of Team Blue thus far?
It's different than last time when we were Team Pink.
