Rant/ Raves/ Symptoms: my hubby's business trip was moved up a week. Um really? He leaves on June 20th now... I love our new laminate floors upstairs they look really nice and secretly I think it's funny to watch my kids and cats slip around on them. Symptoms, lots of back pain from a displaced rib, contractions and still have the weird one swollen leg, plus lots of weird super low bp.
GTKY: I will "need" a medium rare steak and potato with a delicious microbrew.
Rant/ raves/ symptoms? Rant- can't sleep for shit!!! Rave- 37 week appointment today and my mom is coming with me she couldn't have kids of her own, so she's never gotten to hear a baby's heartbeat while in the womb or really experienced stuff that we are going through. Symptoms- heartburn, contractions, BH...
What are you doing to prepare for baby? Finishing organizing the nursery, finishing shower thank you cards (oops!), freezer meal prep.
Questions?
GTKY: Any idea what you want your first "real" postpartum meal to be? Most likely waffles because they're the shit. Lol. Or a double double with animal style fries from In-N-Out. I haven't avoided anything this pregnancy, but I've been cautious.
Rant/ raves/ symptoms? Rave: Finally have buyers for some of the furniture we need to clear out before baby gets here. Got to watch some childbirth class DVDs so starting to feel just slightly more prepared. One last thing to sell and I can finally rearrange the bedroom to fit the pack n play we'll be using as a bassinet for the first couple months. Rant/Symptoms: The BH really got me this week! They started in earnest over the weekend but now that i'm back at work it's hard to not make the faces and swear the swears I was at home. I also dont want to freak anyone out and have them think I'm sitting here in labor.
What are you doing to prepare for baby? Preparing mentally. Spending quality time with the husband.
GTKY: Any idea what you want your first "real" post partum meal to be? Merlot, Rosé, IPA. That's a balanced meal, right?
Rant/ raves/ symptoms? "Poopy" pains woke me up in the middle of the night, and they're continuing to come throughout the day. My last final (I'm a grad student) is due at midnight tomorrow. I'm stressing about the cramping/contractions and totally unable to focus. It's probably nothing, but I NEED baby to stay in there longer.
What are you doing to prepare for baby? Nothing until these fing papers are done.
Questions?
GTKY: Any idea what you want your first "real" post pardum meal to be? Probably fruit and a granola bar. I have a gluten allergy, so I plan on packing my own snacks and avoiding hospital food. Not super exciting, but it's largely what I do on the go, so I'm used to it.
Rant/ raves/ symptoms?Rant: I took a personal day yesterday, but had no time to relax because I was running so many errands! Raves: I had a baby shower this past Sunday, and it was amazing! Everyone was so excited, supportive and incredibly generous. We also got the results of our last ultrasound to check on baby's growth, and everything looked great and on track! Symptoms: Cramps/general discomfort in my belly.
What are you doing to prepare for baby? My husband and I met with our doula last night to go over our birth wishes. We're also going to start washing all of baby's clothes/blankets/towels, etc., and picking up some last minute items for our hospital bag.
GTKY: Any idea what you want your first "real" post pardum meal to be? It's not very adventurous but I can see myself craving Chicken Souvlaki
Rant/ raves/ symptoms? Nothing really to rant about today, Rave, I slept better last night then usual still got up to use the bathroom atleast 3 times but between it I was able to sleep, probably cause I felt the little guy kicking which made me relax knowing he's A-OK in there. SYMPTOMS, still have one foot that's stupid swollen up, looks ridiculous, other than that more frequent trips to the bathroom and clearly this kid needs to start eating more fiber again.
What are you doing to prepare for baby? Nothing really this week, it's a long weekend this weekend and I want to get the babies room as complete as possible, we need to wash all the baby clothes as well and there is a ton from the shower.
Questions? Nope not today
GTKY: Any idea what you want your first "real" post pardum meal to be? Like someone else said I haven't really avoided anything I usually ate, Dr said it was even fine for sushi (not that I like it) but probably a nice steak dinner out at the Keg would be great we have really gone out in a while.
Rant/ raves/ symptoms? All the usual symptoms. Sleep is becoming more elusive. But a rave is that I'm finally getting over a cold that I've had for a couple of weeks! I finally don't have a terribly sore throat when I wake up in the morning.
What are you doing to prepare for baby? Meeting a pediatrician today. I'm hoping we like her, because the location is convenient. Also thinking about sitting in on a la leche league meeting tonight so I know some people to reach out to for BFing issues down the road.
GTKY: Any idea what you want your first "real" post pardum meal to be? This is one thing I haven't thought much about at all. I think it will depend on the time of day, how I'm feeling, etc. I look forward to eating some sushi this summer, but I don't think I'll crave that right after childbirth.
Rant/ raves/ symptoms? Rant - My husband keeps taking his business calls in our bedroom. He's on one right now and I desperately need to shower but i know he'll glare at me if I try to right now. I just want to be clean!! Rave - I can see the light at the end of the tunnel as far as this pregnancy goes. I keep telling myself most of these pains will only last another couple of weeks and then I'll get the reward (little baby, duh). Symptoms - BH have really kicked up in the last few days. Its uncomfortable. Otherwise, I feel like I pulled my groin muscles and i know my snoring has gotten a lot worse.
What are you doing to prepare for baby? Not much I can do since we're moving shortly after baby's birth. I've mostly just been packing up the house and taking things to our storage unit.
GTKY: Any idea what you want your first "real" post pardum meal to be? As long as my side dish is a glass of wine, i don't really care what it is. Presumably whatever the hospital has on its menu. Once I get home, my mom is supposed to help with cooking, so whatever she makes.
Rant/ raves/ symptoms? Rant- Soooo much to do in the next two weeks. All the baby classes, start once a week appts, meet with the doula, and I'm caught between wanting to finish organizing the nursery and reducing the clutter in the house so we can sell it. I'm tempted to just put everything in the pack and play and wheel it out when they go to take the pictures. Rave - Hubby is home and it's so nice to have him back. We had a lovely, relaxing weekend and it's adorable the way he's trying to take care of me (even though I've been doing all this stuff for the last 3.5 months while he was gone). Symptoms - Other than baby girl playing my ribs like a xylophone and some swelling, I'm doing alright.
What are you doing to prepare for baby? Just completed my registry on Amazon. It all shows up Wednesday. Hopefully I can find a place for all of it.
Questions?
GTKY: Any idea what you want your first "real" post partum meal to be? I haven't really been avoiding anything, so this is a hard question. Probably sashimi and a tall glass of wine.
DD1: June '16 DD2: March ‘19 :::: Married since 2011 :::: USN Wife ::::
@chelseay416 my husband works from home most of the time. I'm familiar with those kinds of glares. @annaf2011 good idea about the LLL meeting. I never joined one, personally, but anything you can do for support around bf'ing sounds wise. I'm really hoping it's as easy for me the 2nd time around because I became such a fan through my (almost-2-year) experience with my daughter.
How far along? 34w3d
Rant/ raves/ symptoms? I forgot to take a diclectin last night and had the worst sleep (possibly related, possibly not)- too hot, feeling gross, unable to settle, bad dream etc. etc. Strangely, I don't feel too bad yet and I'm thrilled I get to leave work in a couple of hours to go to my OBGYN apt. I made it earlier in the day than I needed to (shhh) because I predicted wanting a reason to leave early.
What are you doing to prepare for baby? Random decluttering and nesting that drives my husband crazy.
Questions?
GTKY: Any idea what you want your first "real" post pardum meal to be? Beer and coffee. Hell yes.
How far along? 36+5 or 6 (my doc has due date at June 8, and I have appts on Wed. One day has never seemed like a big deal until this week. Getting to 37 weeks tomorrow seems like a big deal!!)
Rant/ raves/ symptoms? Holy sheeeeet, is someone stabbing me in the vag? I am also already measuring 40+ weeks (thanks polyhydramnios!) so my biggest "symptom" is my enormous (seriously) baby gut. Rave: I feel WAY past where I was with my first DS! So thankful. When I get negative, I have to remember that. I love that he's still kicking around in there and baking like he should.
What are you doing to prepare for baby? I feel pretty prepared. I also am putting off some of the last details because I don't want the kid to get any ideas that everything is ready and he can come on out. I guess I need to maybe wash a few new clothes, charge my camera battery--small stuff like that. His room's been done forever, and the bag has been packed forever. So it really is down to small stuff. OOH! I do need to get DH to clean the stroller--I even printed out instructions from the manufacturer.
Questions? Is there such a thing as a non-butt ugly nursing bra that's comfortable? Not something that looks like lingerie, just something that looks like a cool, brightly colored sports bra or something that's not flesh colored and sad looking.
GTKY: Any idea what you want your first "real" post partum meal to be? Bring me a beer and a boat of sushi, pls and thx

@alileecam actually I got a nursing bra like your describing at Thyme Maternity a little while ago.... it's bright peach and grey stripes and I actually think it's pretty cute. The first time around, I mostly went with those generic ugly white ones, which inevitably got stained and even uglier.
What are you doing to prepare for baby? Meeting a pediatrician today. I'm hoping we like her, because the location is convenient. Also thinking about sitting in on a la leche league meeting tonight so I know some people to reach out to for BFing issues down the road.
Going to LLL starting before I had DS1 was just about the best thing in the world that I did, mom-life wise. I got help with BF issues, got to be social with other moms in the exact same life stage as well, stayed sane and made some lifetime friends. I highly recommend it!!

Rant/ raves/ symptoms? Rant - I've already mentally checked out at work and I still might have a few weeks left before maternity leave. It's also very uncomfortable sitting all day at work so I'm just done. Rave - I actually slept all night last night without a potty break. I basically had to run to the bathroom when I woke up though. haha. Symptoms - The usual - uncomfortable, cramping, pelvic pains, BH
What are you doing to prepare for baby? Had my appointment today and I'm dilated to 1cm, which obviously doesn't give any indication of when I'll go into labor. Last week I wasn't dilated at all so at least something's happening. I'm basically prepared for whenever this baby decides to make his/her appearance.
Questions? None
GTKY: Any idea what you want your first "real" postpartum meal to be? Not Your Father's Root Beer - I've been dying to try it for awhile now, but we couldn't find it in nearby stores until recently. Now it's in our fridge just teasing me.
@SMLmom and @alileecam thanks for the input about LLL! I was a little apprehensive about showing up to a meeting pre-baby (even though they say they welcome expecting moms), but you've convinced me to go.
Also, it didn't even occur to me that cute nursing bras were a thing. I ordered a couple of the lame nude-colored ones. I was just thrilled with how much more comfortable they felt than what I've been wearing throughout pregnancy.
@jschlaud Now I'm craving a rootbeer. I've never heard of the "not your father's" kind, but I'll have to keep an eye out for it this summer.
Rant/ raves/ symptoms? I have a horrible head cold, sleeping has taken a dramatic turn for the worst (meaning I literally can't stay asleep for more than an hour or 2) a bit of swelling. I'm so freaking big, sweatpants are uncomfortable.
What are you doing to prepare for baby? We need to install the car seat, that's about it.
Questions? Anyone gone into labor and had a cold before? I'm so scared I will go into labor and pass my nasty cold onto the baby.
GTKY: Any idea what you want your first "real" post pardum meal to be? As long as it comes with wine, I don't care what it is. With my DD, I had a bacon cheeseburger and chocolate shake at about 10pm from Friendly's.
Rant: We did our big office move yesterday and of the 5 people that work in the the office, guess who did the work? My boss, who has horrible back problems at the moment (just hurt it a few weeks ago and walks like an old person because of it) and me. The other 3? Nada. Okay, well 1 guy did come by for a little bit and did some dusting after things were delivered at the new office. The other 2 (student interns) worked from home because...they felt like it? I dunno. They knew we would be moving and we asked them to be at the new office to help buuuuut apparently they felt it was optional. Could not believe they really left everything to the pregnant woman and injured boss (she's my boss, not their's but that's not the point). The actual move was done by professionals, but we still had a lot to do on our side too. Raves: My baby shower was this weekend and though the weekend as a whole was exhausting, the shower was absolutely wonderful. Big kudos to my Mom for putting it all together, it was great!
Symptoms: Super sore from yesterday, but otherwise feeling alright.
What are you doing to prepare for baby? Need to pack the hospital bags! We also need to put away all the stuff we received from the shower.
GTKY: Any idea what you want your first "real" postpartum meal to be? I'm really hoping the in-laws will bring lasagna! There's a "Mom-n-Pop" Italian restaurant where they live (10hrs drive from where we live) that makes the most amazing lasagna and the restaurant will freeze them for purchase too. They brought 6 frozen ones earlier in the pregnancy and man were they just awesome.
Rant/ raves/ symptoms? Nothing really to rant about today, Rave, I slept better last night then usual still got up to use the bathroom atleast 3 times but between it I was able to sleep, probably cause I felt the little guy kicking which made me relax knowing he's A-OK in there.
