The past few days I've found myself nursing more than usual because LO has been very fussy/gassy and eating makes him content. I don't want to over feed him or get into a bad habit if it is. Is it okay to comfort feed?
Lurker from Jan16....It's definitely okay to comfort nurse! Your LO might be going through a growth spurt and need those extra calories or he might just want to be close to you. Just know that it's okay and it won't last forever. As long as he isn't spitting up then I wouldn't worry about overfeeding him. My DD often goes through phases of wanting to comfort nurse and they usually only last a couple of days.
I feel like my little guy is doing that today! He's been congested since birth... And the weather has been crazy lately. Today is rainy and I'm betting he's feeling all sinus headachy. I heard it's no problem to comfort feed as long as they aren't puking.
It's OK as long as you are mindful of it. With DD1 we comfort nursed but she got used to it and the older she got she need to comfort nurse more and more and it became a habit to get her to go to bed/nap. Lesson learned, it made weaning her harder in the end, and something we are very mindful of now with Dd2.
