Re: Moms of Multiples 5.16.16

  • One week closer to the second tri!!

I am 11 weeks today!  Babies are as big as limes now!  for the most part, I'm feeling okay. I'm mainly tires and breaking out and get the occasional headache. Emotionally, I'm nervous and will be until next Thursday when I have my 12 week appointment and can see these babes again!

I have no idea what type of twin pregnancy I'm having, though I assume di, di.

Milestone?  12 week appointment. Once I hear that things are progressing I'll feel better about telling my boss. It's been stressful trying to hide it at work!!

my rant is that we are having some work done in our kitchen (new floor). In order for this to happen, the refrigerator and stove are residing currently in my living room. Have been since last Thursday. Will be until this weekend. I'm not a great cook, but I'm ready to have my kitchen back!

bonus question: I don't see myself needing to dress them alike, but I have a feeling the grandparents will!  Time will tell, I suppose!

How far along are you? 9w 6d but babies are measuring 5 days ahead and they won't change my due date.  Somewhat annoying.

How are you feeling physically? Good!

How are you feeling emotionally? Better every day. I still have my freak out moments about having two babies at once but they are less frequent.

Do you have other children?  Ages?  DS turned 3 in April.

What type of twin pregnancy (Di Di, Mono Di, etc)? Di Di

Next milestone you're looking forward to? I'm looking forward to finding out the sexes.  I also realized yesterday that they will be born at some point in November and it'll be cold so they can live in sleepers for the first few months.  Makes shopping/laundry much easier.

    Rants/Raves/Questions?

Bonus question - will you put your twins in matching clothes?  I'd say complementary, not matching.  Like @KateH1216, I think family is going to buy some matching stuff.

How far along are you? 7w3d - I'm on the baby side of this group!!

How are you feeling physically? getting better...hungry hungry hungry

How are you feeling emotionally? I'll feel better after I'm further along and know both babies stick... until then I'm not thinking about it! My best friend has twins, so if I focus on it it terrifies me....

Do you have other children?  Ages? DD 2.5y

What type of twin pregnancy (Di Di, Mono Di, etc)? Di Di

Next milestone you're looking forward to? 9week ultrasound..... no vanishing twin please!!!

Rants/Raves/Questions? I had drug-free vaginal birth  with DD, wanted the same this time.... but I know the odds of intervention is so much higher in twins, which makes me sad. Also- rolling over in bed at 8 months with twins... ahh!!!

Bonus question - will you put your twins in matching clothes? possibly.....

How far along are you? 10 weeks 1 day

How are you feeling physically? Tired. Big. I was overweight to begin with. I'd lost 45 pounds last year, and then gained like 20 of it back. Since getting pregnant I've only gained 12 pounds, but my shirts are starting to come up -_- I'm going to have to get maternity shirts, already.

How are you feeling emotionally? I'm getting really excited! I keep imagining how our life will be, and it's so cute.

Do you have other children?  Ages? Nope, first and only pregnancy for me.

What type of twin pregnancy (Di Di, Mono Di, etc)? Um, Di Di I think?? The ultrasound tech said they are fraternal.

Next milestone you're looking forward to? Still anxiously waiting for my next appointment. It's not for 3.5 weeks! I want to see the babies again, and hear the heartbeat. We only got to see it last time.

Rants/Raves/Questions? I'm ready to be past this awkward stage where it looks like I've gained weight, but I still don't really look pregnant.

Bonus question - will you put your twins in matching clothes? I doubt it.

Hello! So I just found out yesterday and am still overwhelmed! Physically I am tired and just sort of uncomfortable in my stomach area and lower back. Emotionally I am pretty stable, just super into cuddling and some things make me cry very easily. This is my first pregnancy. I'm only 7 weeks so still too early to tell, will be going back in a week and a half. They also warned me to be prepared for a lot of doctors visits.

Are you you staying at home or going to be working moms? I am going to work, and trying to wrap my head around hat idea.

And I will say no to the matching clothes, but definitely coordinating... Oh my, this is going to get crazy!
  • How far along are you?  9 weeks

How are you feeling physically? sick! I've been super super sick the last few days - finally got some relief yesterday after seeing the doctor and she prescribed me some zofran.

How are you feeling emotionally? good, nervous...I think with my last pregnancy there were fewer concerns looming over my head. With two, I think every day forward is a good one and it also brings more worries. The 12 week mark, then the viability date, third trimester, birth, etc...

Do you have other children?  Ages? A son, he's 6.

What type of twin pregnancy (Di Di, Mono Di, etc)? Di, Di

Next milestone you're looking forward to? My husband can't contain himself any longer, so we are telling our immediate family - moms and siblings this weekend. Everyone else will wait until we announce later, probably when we find out the sexes.

    Rants/Raves/Questions?

Question: Have you ladies told anyone yet? Or is waiting until the second trimester? I'm kind of nervous to tell our close family this weekend but it's getting hard to hide it since I haven't been drinking at any bbqs or parties...

Rant: I just got a baby shower facebook evite....that says there's a diaper raffle (of course) but it lists it as "optional" I wanted to ask what criteria would make it mandatory lol...

Bonus question - will you put your twins in matching clothes? Complimentary clothing I think. DH is really hoping for at least one boy, I'm hoping for at least one girl lol....

Weird thing: I stood up in a wedding last year and this lady I kind of know came up to me and asked if we were trying to have a baby (we were), she said she "saw" us having B/G twins in the future...it was all very 1-800-PSYCHIC type thing lol, so we will see :)

This is so exciting for us all. My husband was so scared at first, but I just caught him looking up twin names, it's so cute!
  • @mrsstarski86  we told our parents and siblings (both sides) on Mother's Day when I was just shy of 10 weeks. I really wanted to tell my mom then for sure, but we also live near everyone and I didn't think I could hide it/avoid everyone much longer!  We haven't told any extended family or friends or work yet.  I have my 12 week appointment and ultrasound next week and I'll feel more confident that nothing has changed in the last 6 weeks after that.

We have so many family functions in June that I'm sure everyone will know in the next few weeks. And I plan on telling my boss after Memorial Day weekend. I don't think I can hide it much longer. I'm sure everyone has figured it out, but nobody has said anything.

    Congrats and welcome!!
  • @mrsstarski86 We told our family right when we found out, and told a few friends. We announced on facebook after our 8 week ultrasound, when we found out about the twins, and saw two strong heartbeats.

Honestly the whole wait until second trimester thing bugs me. Something could go wrong at ANY point in your pregnancy. Why not share your joy and happiness? I guess if you've experienced a loss before, I could understand. I was so annoyed when I told my boss, and he told me that I shouldn't tell people until 8 weeks.

  • @brittnic86 - your boss shouldnt tell tell you what to do... but this one is personal preference.   For most, they don't get an U/S or any kind of medical confirmation until 8 weeks.  Up to 30% of pregnancies end up in miscarriage and the gross majority of those within the first 12 weeks.  Sure, something can always go wrong, but your risk of that something is exorbitantly higher within the first trimester.  I don't think there's a right or wrong, but there's medical data to back up why people chose to wait.

@mrsstarski86 - we told parents and immediate family very early because everyone was here for DS' 3rd birthday and we're rarely in the same place together.  I've been slowly telling friends and extended family after our healthy U/S last week, which was our 3rd at 9w 5d.  It's so different telling people about a twin pregnancy rather than a singleton.  People were excited about DS of course, but I find myself answering SO MANY QUESTIONS when I tell people we're having twins.  It's a different reaction for sure.

  • It makes me feel better that you ladies did share the news earlier than that "magical" 12 week mark. I think we're going to tell close family this Sunday. Everyone else can wait :)

@brittnic86 I totally agree about the waiting and that anything can go wrong at any point...I think for me I'm just really scared and if something did go wrong, I wouldn't find the sympathy of others helpful. I'm a suffer in silence type of person, I guess. & I think your boss is out of line, there are plenty of people who have to share super early. My sister is a chemo nurse and if she ever decides to have kids, she would have to say something asap due to the nature of the job.

@DiFazette I can't wait to hear the difference in responses for the twins vs. how it was with our son. We are planning on surprising our close family with the twin news once we know the sexes. Like, we're having a boy!....and a girl! I don't know if that's tacky but I think it'll be fun :)

  • @mrsstarski86, so you'll tell family you're PG this Sunday but not that it's twins right now?  I for sure would slip up at some point over the next two months!  Good on ya if you can keep a secret!

  • How far along are you? 10 weeks and 2 days

How are you feeling physically? Horrible horrible back aches...to the point I need help to move sometimes. I bought a band from Motherhood Maternity but when I sit...like all day at work....I feel squished and uncomfortable

How are you feeling emotionally? Bad. I feel so useless. By the end of the day I am just wiped out. I enjoy taking care of the house and making dinner and all we do right now is eat out cause I just can't and I feel guilty asking my husband to cook - totally my hang up...not his

Do you have other children?  Ages? I have a daughter age 8

What type of twin pregnancy (Di Di, Mono Di, etc)? Ahhhh Di Di...I assume. Told me I dropped an egg from each ovary and they would be faternal

Next milestone you're looking forward to? Tomorrow I got to doc and get another ultrasound. Need to see my babies and know vanishing twin hasn't struck

Rants/Raves/Questions? Well already had to buy maternity pants. Joy.

Bonus question - will you put your twins in matching clothes? I was just talking about this and NO. I respect everyones opinion on it but thats a big No for me and my husband.

Also...everyone knows we are pregnant. We announced that at 7 weeks but few people know about the twins. My daughter doesn't even know so after this appointment if its still twins we are going to announce it. Some people have asked if I was sure its just one because of the way I am carrying
  • @DiFazette that is the plan! I'm hoping DH doesn't slip up...I think he's excited to tell people that there is a pregnancy so I'm hoping that holds him over lol. I most definitely can't tell DS, he's like regular broadcast news station when it comes to secrets. We were thinking of even being funny and not telling anyone until they're born, but with the timing of the holidays, I want to make sure my mom and sister can take off work if they want to.

Extra question for you ladies: How much help are you hoping to get when the babies come?

With us, I'll have DS in 2nd grade so I'm hoping to have someone stay with us at least part of winter break when he's home for two weeks straight in December. Or maybe have a 2-3 day sleepover with Grandma :)

@mrsstarski86 - keeping it secret until birth seems incredibly hard from a logistics point of view unless you don't have anyone close in proximity that will visit your house and see you set up for two babies.  I would think a shower - if you're having one would give it away too.

Regarding help - I'm going to see what I need.  I'm a bit more of a private person and having people stay with me (even my parents) gives me a little anxiety which I don't think I'll need extra assistance with.  I feel like I need to entertain, feed, etc when that isn't the priority after having two babies.  I'm sure we'll have visitors but I may suggest they go do something fun with DS.  He's 3 and super active to keeping him busy is my biggest worry.

  • Saw both the babies today. Was so relieved that they are both there. Baby A was just a wiggle worm and looked like it was waving and baby B was just floating and chilling out. We decided to announce the twins and told our daughter. She is very excited!!!
