hi ladies. I just stepped on the scale and it says I lost 4 lbs in the last week... I'm 37w 5d. Is this normal? I know the little guy should be gaining a lot of fat right now and I haven't changed my diet at all.
Make sure you're weighing yourself at about the same time in the day. Yesterday late afternoon I weighed myself and got one weight, then I just weighed myself about 10 minutes ago (when I normally step on the scale) and got something much much lower.
That being said, I would ask your dr. more than likely its fine, as baby is taking what he needs from you.
^^ that's true. I literally gain and lose like 2 or 3 pounds each day, just depending on whether I ate and how much fluid I'm retaining at the time I weigh myself. I do seem to have stabilized in the weight gain lately (I'm 35 weeks) because I went from eating 2 desserts a night to barely having an appetite for dinner, as room is running out!
Baby is bigger and takes more space, which leaves less space for your stomach. The pressure can cause you to feel full faster and eat less. Id ask your Dr at your next appointment since you're probably on weekly visits at this point. Likely everything is fine.
I also want to add that your weight will also depend on the last time you had a decent poop. Lol. I've been lucky so far this past weekend and yesterday to actually have an appetite, but that added to the number on the scale.... Until this morning
Normal. As you get closer to delivery, your body may naturally be less hungry (there is a LOT going on in your body right now! Digestion takes a lot of energy and your body may want to conserve that or divert it elsewhere--- so you may not eat as much! OR, you may feel so full from baby that you eat less. OR, you may have more frequent bowel movements to prep for labor-- again, your body wants to take care of digestion now so it can focus on delivery when it's time. All good signs!). Your baby likely isn't losing weight, although you may. Your body still knows how to divert nutrients to baby. Enjoy your last days with baby on the inside

According to the class I took one of the signs that your body is preparing for labor is that your weight will level out and even lose a couple pound. Appetite gets a little less intense too. Soooo, normal?
I havent gained any weight in over a month. Ive lost a few pounds too but my doc isnt worried because baby is measuring good and im not malnourished or anything. Just prep for the end!
I wouldn't worry. Your appetite may be lower and you may be eating less due to pressure/discumfort. If you were more bloated or constipated a week ago, that would explain it too. You are also carrying around more weight, so if you are moving just as much, you are burning more calories just doing the same every day activities.
I have lost 9lb in 5 weeks due to gestational diabetes. Dr is not concerned whatsoever since baby is growing just fine. As long as your dr isn't concerned, I wouldn't worry.
I have also read this is relatively normal, and one of the reasons (along with needing it for labor) that our bodies store more fat in the first and second trimesters.
If anyone is feeling abnormal because they aren't losing or maintaining weight--let me reassure you that I am still gaining, according the the dumb scale they had me get on today. <grumble grumble>
