Maternity Disability Leave through the State of New Jersey

Has anyone ever attempted to try maternity disability leave through the state of NJ? I'm currently self employed as a home daycare provider and I would love to take some leave time to spend with just me and my baby. I tried calling their customer service and was told that since I don't receive an official pay check that I would be ineligible. I just wanted to see if anyone else has been able to take leave through the state as a daycare provider (or self employed) or maybe give advice on what I could do?

    I'm fairly certain it's the same across the board for all states. If you are self-employed, you do not qualify for paid "leave", and in my case, as an independent contractor, I'm just promised my job back.
