6 week scan questions?

Tomorrow is my first ultrasound with this pregnancy. I'm just wondering what to expect to see at a 6 week scan, because I never had one this early with dd1.

Did anyone hear a heartbeat this early? See a flicker for the heart? If there isn't a heartbeat,do they have you come back in a week? Give me all the stories!!!!

I'm crazy nervous. This is my rainbow baby, and with my previous two pregnancies/losses every scan was heartbreaking.

We did an early U/S with DD2 right around 5wks, and just saw a sac, nothing else. Did a repeat early 7wks and saw the HB. I think early 6wks it's 50/50, you may see the flicker, you might not. Try to be nervous if you don't though, that is still very early.

I went for a scan right at 6 weeks and saw a flicker. It was difficult/early to measure, but it was observable on the screen. I completely agree, though, that it can be too early to definitely see at 6 weeks, so try not to panic if you do not see one. I am also coming off of two consecutive losses as well and understand the anxiety. Good luck!!!

@potatocastillo thanks! Yeah we are thinking a hb would be icing on the cake, but aren't really expecting it. Just hoping for a sac in my uterus, a baby in the sac, and that the babe is measuring alright.

@ThePax89 I'm going to piggy-back onto this post, if you don't mind. I'm in the exact same boat. I've never had a postitive scan either and, like you, super nervous. I so very much hope we both get good news tomorrow. I'll be thinking of you! Also, how are you distracting yourself today? I've been trying to burry myself in chores, but I'm way too tired to get much done, and end up sitting on the couch on my phone anyway...

@cjs260 our rainbows are going to be okay! Perfect in fact.
I have a countdown on my phone that I've stared at for 2 weeks. Haha. I think today DH and I will go shopping. When is your scan?

@ThePax89 Tomorrow at 1pm (et). I've taken the day off tomorrow so that I don't have to be a nervous ball of energy at my desk in the morning. I've kept a mental countdown, excited to see something, but now I'm just worried... I keep telling myself worrying will not change the outcome either way. But that's easier to tell myself than do it. Is yours morning or afternoon?

@ThePax89 thank you! I haven't had any additional scans yet. I'll be 7 weeks tomorrow or Tuesday (FF vs LMP). The plan right now is to go back at 10 weeks for true dating ultrasound. It's hard not to worry and wonder what is going on in there in the meantime, as you well know! Keep us updated. I will be sending you positive thoughts.

No advice really but good luck to you ladies

I know how hard it is to wait for the scan you guys are in my thoughts. I go in tomorrow to get blood work started and will likely have an u/s at 6,9 and 13 weeks like last time to be sure. Just try to stay calm and think happy healthy baby thoughts.

I had a scan last Friday at 6w 5d, we saw the heartbeat flicker, saw the baby and heard the heartbeat at 124 bpm! My baby measured 6w 3d. It was pretty cool.

I had my first u/s at 6wk 2d.. We were able to see the baby, the yolk sac and saw a flicker of the heartbeat. She listened and was able to catch a blip and measured it at 104bpm

I think like others have said its a toss up! Good luck tomorrow!!!!

@Emma61210 did you have a regular u/so or was it a vaginal u/s? Just curious how much they can see with the regular one this early, I will be 6wk 2d at my appointment Thursday and hoping for an u/s!

@ThePax89 going by O date, I'll be 6 weeks. For some reason my ticker is a day behind FF. (I'm just rolling with it! Haha) But because of my LMP, the OB is going to think I'm 7 weeks, so I'm worried they're going to believe I'm "behind" no matter what they see. I'll be thinking of you in the morning!

With my first, I got pregnant two months after going off BC (with no period) so I had a dating U/S scheduled. They measured baby at 6+4 and was able to record her heartbeat. They did warn me that it might be difficult to record and not to worry if it that was the case.

It's so crazy how married to LMPs doctors are. You could even show some a FF temp chart and they'd still act like you're incapable of knowing your ovulation date (which I guess to be fair, does have margin of error, but how annoying if it's a really obvious temp jump with not much variation days before).

@cjs260 oh Lordy. I hope they listen to you based on your o date. FF won't give me a due date unless I'm ff illiterate and can't figure it out. I o'd on the 18th, which is two days late based on my LMP. So we are right around the same.

My dating u/s is tomorrow morning. I'm at work right now and I can hardly focus on anything. I'll be 7 weeks tomorrow, so I'm hoping to at least see the flicker of a heartbeat.

With my daughter we saw and heard a heart beat at 6w1d but they did warn us that it can be take longer so not to worry! I have a 6w6d ultrasound scheduled this time... It cannot get here soon enough! Good luck everyone

I actually have my dating u/s this afternoon as well! I miscarried last July with my first, so I am SUPER nervous about today's visit. Speaking from my first visit last time, I never heard a heart beat, but I did see the sac and my little nugget. I'm 6 weeks 5 days, and baby should be the size of a sweet pea. So, you should see a sweet pea nugget, along with the sac. Make sure to cherish the moment, even if you don't hear the heartbeat. It is still early. Make sure to update us!

Update: perfect ultrasound. I'm feeling incredibly relieved and blessed. 100 bpm heart rate. And it's the most beautiful sound In a while. Just one baby.

I just had a vaginal ultrasound (was worried something was wrong, see weekend randoms!) all I saw was a little blob, but I'm sure you'll see more (I'm only 5wks 3 days)! But doctor was able to confirm everything is developing correctly right now and that I should be able to hear a heart beat in 7-10 days yayy

I, too, had a perfect scan. Heart rate was 108 and little grain of rice measured 6w1d.

@ThePax89 I think so! I'm so excited for you, too! I actually went the misoprostol route, and I'm sorry for your pained cervix! That sounds like absolutely no fun at all. Mine was definitely uncomfortable during the scan, but is just mildly tender now.

Hey all! After being worried about some spotting I also went in for an u/s today. Doc said baby is 6wks 4d along and we detected heartbeat of 117 bpm. Yay!! Had a vaginal ultrasound.

I had my first u/s this morning. It was just an external ultrasound though. The baby measured exactly on track (7 weeks today) and the heart rate was 115bpm. DH and I can't stop staring at the pictures!
