What's your 'me time' look like?

Lately, my 'me time' had been: everyone's laundry. BOO! That's not 'me time'?! I need some ideas. Working out doesn't count as 'me time ' in my honest opinion because it's not something I really enjoy lately. LOL I need a fun, relaxing me time idea?!?!

Re: What's your 'me time' look like?

  • Don't know that I can help, my me time seems to be doing dishes lately... Ugh
  • Loading the player...
  • What's this me time of which you speak?? Lol

what time I do get away from DS when not at work is spent working from home, pumping, cleaning something or yard work now that it's finally getting nice out. DH did get me a 2 hour massage for mothers day tho, so I booked that shit for this Sunday. I cannot wait!!!!!!

Go get a pedi or a massage or rent a hotel room and nap!!! Lol
  • Me time for me is dance class or riding my horse or reading a book while lo is napping. I just finished the physician by Noah Gordon. Also working on lo's baby book, doing a puzzle, coloring. Hope that gives you some idea
  • Don't know that I can help, my me time seems to be doing dishes lately... Ugh
This is my issue. I need some real me time, but I'm having an issue coming up with ideas other than napping. LOL
  • I love taking a long bath and reading in there
  • Dishes laundry pumping making baby food. Sigh. Being a mom is literally being punched in 24/7. One day we'll be able to read books and watch movies in peace again! Something to look forward to lol. That's what I wish I could do in my me time.

  • My "me time": watching Netflix, making and eating a meal (rarely does that happen without interruptions), working out, catching up on paperwork for work, snuggle with my dog, read the Bump, play on my phone, nap!
  • My me time is brushing my teeth. Sad!

  • I try to do a little crafting most evenings after the little ones are in bed and sometimes my husband will take care of both kids for a weekend morning (minus when I need to nurse the baby) so I can try to get a couple of consecutive hours in. Right now I'm into scrapbooking and I'm also designing and sewing a felt mobile for our daughter's bedroom. Even though the exchange rate is crap right now, I ordered some reeeaaally nice scrapbooking supplies from the US that I couldn't find in Canada and I can't wait to try them out! Now to just find the time...
  • That used to be my choice of me time. I love to scrapbook but haven't had the chance to do it since LO was born. Somehow I found the time with two babies and a toddler, but now with three tweens and a baby there isn't a scrap of time left for me.

My 'me time' is after the girls go to bed, from 8-10. I tend to squander it on facebook, here on TB, or reading blogs. Ideally, I try to tick off a to-do item first (like meal planning) then I read for fun, take a bath or sew.

I really try to fit all chores, cleaning, etc into our daily routine so that my evening is mine. Keeps me sane!

ETA-I'm a WAHM right now, so I have the ability to do dishes, laundry, etc in pieces during the day.

  • My me time is a long hot bubble bath, a glass of wine, and a book usually after LO goes to bed.  If I don't have laundry, dishes, bottles, cleaning, or work to do, that is!  I try to make time for me at least once or twice a week though.  My DH is very good at helping around the house to allow me to get a break here and there!
  • @ForeverEverAfter is right on.  I try really hard to do all the cleaning while the kids are awake.  That way my downtime really is downtime.  Watching TV, spending time with my mom, bumping, long showers, these are all the reasons why I love having a set bedtime for my kids.

Sigh.   Me time,  is that a thing?  Is that the time when I'm in the bathroom pretending to poop while on TB? lol me time is something I'm still trying to find.
  • I get about half an hour a night to watch television. We created a cuddle monster and he won't sleep for more than half an hour in his crib. We got to the point where we were so eager to watch Game of Thrones that we watch it in the dark on closed captions while the baby sleeps in one of our arms.
  • Me time? What's that? :) I agree with PP's. The two hours after LO's bedtime is my me time and honestly I've just been using it to cuddle with my husband and eat way too much chocolate. Enjoying downtime before my 15 credit summer and student teaching in the fall.

Reading in bed before falling asleep for the night. And the occasional shower. That's about it, not that I'm complaining. I love being with LO all the time.
  • My husband and I have been doing date night once a week since LO was a month old. I consider that me time because it usually consists of shopping and eating which are 2 of my favorite things to do! (Sometimes we change it up and go bowling or out with friends) lol
Other things I consider me time: taking a long hot bath, watching a movie, browsing online before bed, getting my hair colored... I get about an hour of "me" time every night. Plus if I need my hair done or something like that, I can pretty much do that whenever because my parents are both retired and will watch LO anytime I need them to.
  • My me time is when I get to go to Target alone or get my nails done.
  • Me time is watching a show or just lying on the ground haha
I opened an Etsy shop (Tiny Tugs Organics) and have really enjoyed making things in the evenings

If my DS has trouble napping I'll just hold him and use headphones to watch hulu on my phone :) baby cuddles and watching shows...ahh

^ I opened an etsy shop too! FatPonyCreations, after my name here on the bump. I'm currently making more merch and don't think I'll sell anything, but it gives me something to do!
  • Laying on the couch after the kids are in bed and Josh has gone to work I binge watch greys anatomy. I clean all day long and when everyone's asleep I set the timer for 15 minutes and finish things up when it goes off I plop my butt down and sometimes pass out here.
  • My "me time" is after I drop the kids off at school, driving to work for 20 minutes.  I usually spend this time talking to DH on the phone, as it's the only uninterrupted and child-free time we spend together each day. Same for driving home from work, before stopping at the daycare.  I usually fall asleep putting my older kids to bed and wake up at the same time as them, so I don't really spend alone time.  I travel frequently for work so that's a really nice break!!

  • Mine tends to be the grocery store lately :( or after LO is in bed I get about an hour before he wakes up again and I will clean the bottles or plop on the couch in a mombie stare and scroll through this blog and read mom things..... Told DH the other day he has golf once a week I think I need a day after work to just go do something for a little (not working late - that doesn't count)

I mean, I went all by myself to go get my annual exam yesterday... That counts, right?

    LOL

I try to read while baby is napping. Typically he will only nap if I lay down next to him, so this forces me to take a little time to do something I love and don't otherwise have time for.
  • I started a FB page for my custom and personalized art work, clothing, baby blocks and such. So I stay up until 3 in the morning working on orders. I love what I'm doing but I've been very busy lately, I'm currently laying on the couch for the first time in forever and loving it

Does my hour to hour and a half commute to work to drive 20 miles in road construction count? ;) Some days it gets to me, but some days I find it almost relaxing just to be alone with my thoughts ... how sad is that?

Other than that, pedicure once a month, retail therapy on one weekend a month, and hanging out with friends Monday night to watch the Bachelorette are how I enjoy my "me" time. Oh, and catching up on reality TV after LO goes to bed.
  • sleep! :)
