Upcoming appointments? We have an appointment coming up this Friday, but it's just for more blood work I think. We don't have another ultrasound until the anatomy scan.
Rants/Raves/Questions? Rave: We did an elective ultrasound yesterday, and found out the baby is a BOY!!!! I am thrilled!!!! I lost my father a few years ago, and now I get to use my Dad's name for our son's middle name!! It is a bunch of mixed emotions, but I am honestly so excited that I get to name him after my Dad. Another rave is that we registered today!! My husband was buying Baby Gap boy clothes about 5 minutes after we found out at the ultrasound place. So cute!! It was a ton of fun registering together. Rant: RLP has really been bothering me today. Although I have been doing a lot more moving around then normal. I think it's time to lay down for a bit.
Symptoms/Cravings/Aversions? I've been craving pretzels, and potato chips. Trying to only have one or two to calm the craving, and then eat something healthy. Not really having much aversions. The nausea is definitely gone, and my appetite is back!!
GTKY: Do you have family or friends nearby who will be there to help after the baby’s born? Unfortunately no. The closest family to us is about a 6-7 hour drive away. We have a few close friends in the area, but we can't expect them to help out a lot after the baby is born. So it will be just my husband and I for the most part. We will be putting our son in day care when I go back to work. I have mixed feelings about day care. I'm happy our son will be able to socialize with other kids, and also thankful that I will have adult stimulation throughout the day, but I'm sure it will be very hard to part with the little guy. We are looking into a day care that is a block away from my job, so I can at least go there throughout the day to breastfeed as time allows.

Upcoming appointments? I have my monthly appointment on Tuesday, but it's just blood work I believe. Waiting for that a/s next month. I feel like the only one here (minus the team green crew) that doesn't know if they are having a boy or a girl!
Rants/Raves/Questions? Did some light yard work yesterday which was much needed but my back is not happy about it today. Otherwise I've actually been feeling great!
Symptoms/Cravings/Aversions? I have been eating healthier foods in 2nd tri...though I did have a weird, intense craving for Spaghetti-Os this week. So gross but they tasted pretty amazing!
GTKY: Do you have family or friends nearby who will be there to help after the baby’s born? I am very lucky as my in-laws will be about 20 minutes away. My parents are planning on moving closer within the next year or two (they're about 3 hours away now). Baby will probably be in daycare 1-2 days per week when I go back to work until my parents move.

Rants/Raves/Questions? I got a sneak peek ultrasound at my unplanned appt this week so it was nice to relieve some of the ever-building tension between appts. Still trying to figure out if the weird feelings are really this baby girl...to be honest, the taps and eel feelings aren't cute to me so I'm hoping to enjoy/acknowledge it more when kicks can be felt from the outside too
Symptoms/Cravings/Aversions? Shortness of breath, RLP, and pregnancy brain. Craving all the ice cream and Cinnabons usually....I could go for some Kool-aid right now though. No major aversions but still not that hungry for meat, and I can only eat a little of anything at a time
GTKY: Do you have family or friends nearby who will be there to help after the baby’s born? Yea, a few people will probably be around a lot when she's born/comes home, although we still haven't figured out the daycare situation

R/R/Q: a co-worker announced this week she is also pregnant and due 2 weeks after me. This is baby #2 for both of us and we are the same age. Her first is 4 years old, mine is 18 months. I am so self-conscious how she is barely showing and I am huge. And several people have pointed it out too : (
Symptoms/etc: eh nothing much really. Not eating very healthy unfort but that's also my norm non pregnant. Still working out and teaching at the gym twice a week
GTKY: yes and the biggest mistake I made last time was not having a designated day for everyone to come meet the baby (a "sip and see"). We had nearly 3 weeks of nonstop visitors and it was awful. Definitely doing a big viewing this time ('minus immediate family of course who will come over more I'm sure)

Rants/Raves/Questions? I could rant about last week, but I'm trying to be positive this week. Tomorrow is A/S, Tuesday we get a new front door, and Friday we leave for our mini babymoon to NYC!
Symptoms/Cravings/Aversions? I'm really thirsty, so I'm working on getting more water in me. Sleeping has been a bit better, although sometimes I still end up with sore hips. Cravings.. are typically one offs for me. fyi.. cherry icees and buttered salt pretzels don't taste good together.
GTKY: Do you have family or friends nearby who will be there to help after the baby’s born? My dad/step mom live a about an hour away and my mom lives two hours away, so not really. I wish my mom wouldn't have moved away for her sake and mine.

Unfortunately the MIL is the closest. My sister is about an hour away & I have a few close friends that I think will be willing to help if needed.

Rants/Raves/Questions? I am finally past the nausea and have so much more energy! It's great to finally feel like I am getting some things done around the house.
Symptoms/Cravings/Aversions? no real cravings or aversions right now, but have actually been eating pretty healthy for the past week which is nice.
GTKY: Do you have family or friends nearby who will be there to help after the baby’s born? Unfortunately none of our family is in town, MIL is about 45 mins away and my parents are an hour and a half. While they will be able to come by to see us, everyone works and will not be able to help out on a regular basis. This is a big reason we went with a doula who also offers postpartum services, and she will be available to help us out as needed in the beginning.

Rants/Raves/Questions? I'm taking a Bradley childbirth class and they've given us these ridiculous diet and protein goals. Two eggs a day? Seriously, who eats two eggs a day? I friggen hate eggs. I get enough protein and my diet is fine, thank you very much.

GTKY: Do you have family or friends nearby who will be there to help after the baby’s born? Since my husband's parents just decided to move to Florida, we won't have any family nearby. We will have friends, but I'm not good about asking for or accepting help. It's bad enough that my mother and his are going to come to visit for probably a week or two at a time. Hopefully not at the SAME time, because our house is too small for that noise. I really just want to be left alone for like three weeks following the birth of our baby. Then everybody can descend on us like a pack of wild dogs.

MIL lives down the road but she won't be of help and I don't want it anyway. My parents live about 45 minutes away. My mom will be babysitting a few days a week.

My family lives an hour and a half away, so they will be helping a lot. Both of my parents are retired, so my mom will probably come stay with us for a couple weeks to help out. Husband's family lives in England, so they won't be able to help. But that's okay with me, winkwink nudgenudge.

Upcoming appointments?A/S next week but we found it was a girl at 13 weeks through our genetic test.
Rants/Raves/Questions? I'm already not happy with the genetic testing company (Progenity) and we haven't even gotten the bill yet. We CLEARLY checked the box on THEIR form that said "bill directly to patient, not insurance" because we arranged a much lower fee for the test since we were already told insurance wouldn't cover it. Weelllll, they billed it to insurance anyways for the full $595. I got the statement from insurance saying that they were looking into it but that we didn't owe them. Which means when they deny it then chances are Progenity will try coming back at us for the full $600. Not happening.
As for questions: what is everyone's experience with the whole milk production sensation/symptom thing?? I'm a FTM and a handful of times a week I get a feeling like I'm being slowly poked with a needle from the inside of a boob. Random locations, rarely the nipple though, and only lasts a few seconds. Just seeing if it's a "all boobs are different" thing or if it's unheard of and I should ask the doc?
On a rave note: I'm LOVING my Barbie doll hair lately! I'm assuming it's prenatal related but it's soft and flowy and shiny and fantastic
Symptoms/Cravings/Aversions? I finally have an aversion, but not to the point of gagging...grilled chicken breasts. OF ALL THINGS, I want nothing to do with one of the healthier options that I actually usually eat a lot of normally. I'm loving strawberry lemonade right now too (with real strawberries)...luckily Wendy's makes a really good batch for a quick fast food option!
GTKY: Do you have family or friends nearby who will be there to help after the baby’s born? We will come July! The way things stand currently, we're still somewhat rookies in our new city with no deep connections to friends yet, my husband's whole family lives 4 hours away, and my family lives 8 hours away = NO quick reliable resources in a time of need. Plus, my husband is a high school varsity basketball coach which means during prime time newborn season (as first time parents) it would essentially be a one-person show. While yes it CAN be accomplished to sustain all our lives, we decided at what cost?
So, without my knowledge, he started looking at any available jobs closer to his family and all our friends in our old town, and thankfully he got an offer for one! His parents are thrilled for us to live in their same town (first grandchild for his mom) and of course my parents are too only being 4 hrs away (first grandchild without baby mama drama and custody battles!). My mom doesn't work anymore so her and my sister will probably stay for a couple weeks and of course DH's big family will be around when they have to leave.
