I'm beyond ready for DD and her daycare playmate (both 3) to go to preschool!! They fight like brother and sister which causes DD to scream and cry ALL.DAY.LONG. I'm ready to have a quietish house with just my baby and happy little toddlers.
I'm more excited than scared to give birth. It's probably FTM ignorant bliss, but I'm ready to get his show on the road. Come on August!

I don't know if this is an UO but I absolutely hate buying maternity clothes...and yet I want to feel comfortable at work, on the weekends and playing with my DD. I think it is b/c I am so cheap when it comes to this stuff. This is my last pregnancy so it hard to spend on something you know you will only wear for 3 more months!!
I'm more excited than scared to give birth. It's probably FTM ignorant bliss, but I'm ready to get his show on the road. Come on August!
At this point, I'm still more excited than scared as well. I am not in a hurry for August to get here, but it's more because there are still lots of things I want to get done before baby gets here and I'm cherishing the time DH and I have alone while we can.
I am so sick of Adele! I think I have heard "Hello" 159864756492 times in the past 2 days.
@midwestbaby & @MamaKSquared I am scared and this is my fourth lol. I am always scared of labor and delivery and I think it is more a fear of the unknown. I pretty much know what to expect if things go as expected but there is always a part of me that worries it will not go as expected.
I don't know how unpopular this opinion will be but.. pregnancy has convinced me that the health care/insurance industry in this country is completely FUBAR. It seems like the patients and even the doctors and nurses are an afterthought in a business that really takes place between providers/hospitals and the insurance companies. I've already been told by one representative from my insurance company, "You're not our customer. Your doctor's office is the customer." Ok then, what am I? Because DH and I are paying a monthly premium out of his paycheck, so what are we if not the customer? It's nearly impossible to speak with anyone with any decision-making pull, only poorly-trained call center people! I am so frustrated with these a-holes.
@snaps816 and we are completely at the mercy of the hospital's billing system...The exact same routine ultrasound could be a $0 co pay at one place, and a $300 co pay at another, depending on what they enter it into the computer as. That is real money to anyone about to add a whole extra human to their household expenses.
And the doctor's / hospitals (some at least) treat you like they are doing a favor every time you PAY to see them, or have a procedure done because they are so overwhelmed with clients any new ones they take on are treading the line of hitting tilt and being unable to serve ANYONE.
@Katienu agreed. I need a few more things, but it seems so pointless. I told the guys I travel with for work to expect to see the same dress at every single conference. I'm not buying anymore business professional stuff. Expensive and seems like a waste.

I thought pregnancy was bad enough then my husband injured his shoulder on Saturday. The Dr. wanted him to get in for a Mri on Monday and it's been a fight to try and get it approved. He finally was able to get it this morning. It only took me calling the insurance company every single day. Yesterday, I was on with them for an hour! It's like they know that our insurance changes in June and they are trying to delay everything so they don't have to cover it.
I'm more excited than scared to give birth. It's probably FTM ignorant bliss, but I'm ready to get his show on the road. Come on August!
There's nothing weird about this! I was the same way when I was a FTM. And I'm feeling that way now and I do know what to expect. Excitement helps! I'm totally of the belief that fear makes the pain worse. I went med free with DS and will absolutely do it again...and I'm excited for it!
It bugs me when I see people who use anxiety/depression as an anecdote. I think that depression is a serious thing that shouldn't be taken lightly. I followed a blogger on Facebook until a few days ago and she made a post about how a little girl in her daughters dance class asked why her daughter missed class the previous week and she told the little girl it was because she(the mom) was having a mental breakdown. It's not a joke that your kid had to miss out because of your anxiety. Everything nowadays is made into a joke instead of being properly dealt with.
@Snaps816 Completely agree! A girl was telling me this past weekend she delivered at 30 weeks at a hospital covered by her insurance. HOWEVER, since the NICU docs were contracted out and NOT covered by insurance, the hospital tried to stick them with a $300k bill. Are you kidding me? I wouldn't even have thought that would be possible.
@rikopy That is terrifying! I hate to think that I'll need to watch my back while in the hospital delivering, when I should be focused solely on my baby. I'd feel like a "bad mom" thinking/asking about money and insurance coverage instead of only about my LO's health, but I feel like that is how they take advantage of people.

Holy smokes! That is not an appropriate response from your insurance company. I just got done talking with mine after my WTF Wednesday posts about stupid insurance related things. Basically, I called the imaging center to speak to the Billing Manager. She told me that they were told to code all 20 week anatomy scan visits at a level 2 code of 76811 and that I need to call my insurance and ask for the Supervisor. CareFirst goes, "we are not allowed to advise any facility what to code for as that falls under clinician's judgment and supporting documentation." I told him flat out there's obviously a disconnect and the only one in the middle of this whole mess is the patient.
I got the NT scan at the same facility back in January but this fell under women's preventative care so I didn't have to pay towards my deductible. I thought anatomy scan would fall under the same category except based on the level of code, it didn't. CareFirst normally doesn't call these centers about codes entered but they said they would like to follow up directly because something doesn't add up. And because this level of service is higher than what's considered a routine or preventative service, they needed an authorization to perform this scan but it's missing! Well I wonder why it's missing...because I had no medical reason to get a special type of anatomy scan (all results came out normal too).
Long story [not so] short, here's what I advised on my FB status today:
Patients need to be better informed at making decisions around their care. Always see if there's a necessity to go to a hospital affiliated imaging center vs. a free standing one. Always ask if you don't understand why you were charged for x, y, z.
I just had an imaging center tell me, "we were told to bill under this code for all of these visits to all payers." Then my ins. co. telling me there are different levels for this type of visit that could fall under preventive care which would impact my portion of pay. Hmm, one side smells fishy and may need to be audited. That's just b/c I'm familiar with all of this but how many times do patients just pay without question? Do your research!
I can't stress enough how many times providers have questions on billing, documentation, and the amount of claims getting denied because they're not coding correctly. So please do your own research, confirm with your plan what services are covered, and don't just go to a facility your doc recommends. If an imaging center is in a hospital, you get billed for professional service (ex: outpatient ultrasound) AND facility fee (can be $$$$ just because hospital is doing billing for that center).
My UO today is, I am so glad American Idol has been canceled. I was never able to get in to that show and it really kinda bothered me how obsessed some people were with it.
@Snaps816@rikopy when I called my insurance company to confirm that they are in network with my hospital, they told me that most of the hospital is, except one building. WTF is that?! Why would one building be out of network?! The craziest part was they couldn't even tell me what departments were in that building, so I had to call the hospital to figure out what it was all about.

Yeah I liked the first few seasons but after a while I was just done with it too. I think I stopped watching after Carrie Underwood... On a note of tv cancellations, I'm super bummed Nashville got cancelled! I really enjoyed that show!
This may be more of a rant/trivia than an UO. In 1943 the cost of a healthy mom to deliver a baby in the hospital was about $30 (room, board, medications, etc.) The physician bill was separate (as it still is now.)
Fast forward to today, with inflation alone the same hospital stay should cost about $500 (reasonably affordable), in fact probably less than most of our co-pays.
The actual cost for the same service is about $10,000 ($9,600 according to government data) thanks to all of the administrative costs associated with our current healthcare design.

When I was seeing an RE I had found a fertility clinic that was 'in network' - only to find out later one doctor was covered by my insurance but the other actually wasn't. They typically preferred to work together as a team, so every time I made an appointment I had to triple check that I was with the one doctor and not the other. So bizarre - though not as strange as one building not being covered!

Oh my word. Me too!! I love Nashville. Super bummed.
I hate those big ass headband things on baby girls. I think they look stupid. I've yet to ever see one that looks cute.
@JLyn821 - YES!!! I totally agree. I understand that some people use them especially if their daughter doesn't have hair yet, but I personally think they look horrendous. Especially the ones that are the size of the baby's head.
I don't get why we have to do the whole "ETA," or "edited because..." thing when we edit a post. Do people really think you're up to something if you edit a post?
@tmk0325 Yeah -- if I catch an error on one of my posts, I fix it. I don't feel the need to explain.
I think this is common across all internet boards -- maybe there are people who try to go back and change their posts/improve their arguments when they get in a spat or get flamed?
I'm late - but I'm so over other women telling me I'll have DS late and definitely not early. DD was born at 36w6d on her own and I feel like he will be early too. I really don't care if someone else had their kid early or late and I don't need anyone wishing overdue baby date vibes on me lol I live in Texas and I'm due in August. Enough said.
My UO is LuLaroe!!! LuLaroe leggings have just become the new thing in my town (yeah, they are slow) but I hate them and hate seeing everyone wearing them everywhere, for all occasions! I love me some leggings just as much as the next girl, but I wear them in the comfort of my home, NOT out in public! Nor will I pay the price for LuLaroe when I can buy super soft and comfy leggings at Label $hopper for like $8!

I can't quite get on board with loud prints on leggings, but I do love some of their skirts and dresses. I just bought this skirt yesterday. The fold down waist is great as maternity wear and then I'll be able to wear it after too.
I honestly have never heard of Lula Roe until you ladies started mentioning it .. I dont get it - is it a pyramid selling type thing for leggings? Or is it just a brand or something? I've never seen it at stores, I don't think it's in LA? I kept thinking everyone was saying they don't like lululemon and I was like whaaaaaat?!

As @Nikkoli98 said a lot of our costs (especially compared to other similar countries) comes from administrative costs (hospital and insurance) but we do also have a lot more technology and interventions than they had in 1943.
@Bookhousegirl and @MrsrundellThey are a direct sales company that sells leggings, shirts, dresses and skirts. They have just recently become well known in my town. I took my son to a birthday party today and there were like 5 or 6 moms there wearing the leggings. Many of them have wild prints and they, in my opinion, are way overpriced!
@shanrum3 ooohhhhh ok - Hmm I just googled it and yikes! Too busy, too much going on and kinda out of date style wise - it's like a cheesy version of the whole boho/Nicole Richie circa 2005 look.
@ShanRum3 Yeah, I had looked up their website when everyone here started talking about them. I guess they just aren't as big of a thing where I live (yet?). Maybe now that I know about it, I'll notice people wearing them more!
