Already showing?

Hi ladies,

I am about 5 weeks pregnant & this would be my 2nd.. super excited! I know they say you start showing faster but I am showing already? Or am I just bloated.. I feel it more with my pants- it is like I want to let my belly out.. Any thoughts?

So this means a vote for bloat..:)

You'd have to be carrying a whole football team of babies in there to be showing already.  The uterus is a pelvic organ until around 12 weeks, anything before then is just last night's dinner and some good ole' bloating.

It's bloat, but it doesn't negate the fact that your pants are barely closing already. I hear you sista, this is my second go around too and the button is barely closing!

I'm showing but not to much and this is baby number 2 for me and I feel worse with this one then I was with my son

Embrace the bloat, ladies! :) most of the time, you and your SO are the only ones who notice this. Unless your my mother who has no filter at all and calls you fat before you announce you're with child lol. Happy and healthy 9 months.

I am ALL bloat at the moment, as my weight hasn't really changed. My stomach was already a little out there (definitely NOT flat), and this bloat just makes it look worse. I have even used the rubber band trick already with some of my pants, ha! Gas X is my BFF.

When does the bloating go away?!
Pretty much never. Lol. Once your belly actually "pops" and its noticeable that its a baby bump, then the bloating turns into baby.

You'll still feel some bloat throughout pregnancy as the baby grows and your organs move but at least it's less noticeable with a bump.

Yep. I used to just be uncomfortable around my period and have to unbutton my pants after a big meal. These days it is permanent so I already moved into maternity pants. I don't even care. lol

The bloat is real. I just had the furniture guy say congrats on the baby. I am wearing a floaty dress but I wanted to cry (I'm only six weeks )

Does anyone know to help with the bloat?  Only one pair of my work pants fits comfortably now (and they were too big before I was pregnant) but I feel like its to early to buy maternity pants... will they even fit once I'm in my second trimester, let alone my third?  I try to stay away from salt, but it's hard when saltines and pretzels are the only thing that help with the nausea.  Any suggestions??

Lots of water. Also try wearing a belly band or hair tie to fasten your pants. It's a lot more comfortable, and will keep you in your regular pants longer.

@amayc it depends what pants you buy. Im a jeans girl and i found the bloat by 8 weeks was so uncomfortable i couldnt wear normal jeans. I brought the maternity low rise ones with the elastic where the pockets should be, and i was able to wear them the whole way through my pregnancy. I was lucky though that i didnt put too much weight on my bum and thights or i might have had a problem. Maybe just dont buy supertight ones in case you do put on a little more weight then ideal? Those jeans were a bonus since they just looked like normal jeans i was able to wear them pp until i was happy in my old jeans again. My SIL liked the overbump ones, but you cant wear them till you have a decent sized bump, and cant really wear them pp

These are what i got, a pair in blue and a pair in black. So stretchy so that they still allowed for a little actual weight (my bum definitely got a bit bigger, but i wore these from 8w pregnant to about 6wpp

Bloat is inevitable!! Embrace it :) To be honest, 99% of the time, its only noticeable to you and your SO. So don't fret too much. It will subside a bit before your bump actually pops.

@clairemwalker@GinnyJ2012   Thank you so much for the ideas!  I will look into belly bands and try to drink more water.  I don't really wear a lot of jeans to work but I will keep the maternity low rise in mind when my jeans start to get tight - they're a little stretchy so it hasn't been a problem.

Just buy some maternity jeans that fit you now. You'll wear them postpartum. Just sayin'!

Hey, I'm 7 weeks 4 days and I bought maternity pants last weekend haha. It's getting warm out, and I wanted some shorts and cropped leggings. Why would I buy normal ones now, and maternity ones later in the summer, especially when maternity pants are SO FREAKING COMFORTABLE?? Also, whatever the explanation, I know my belly looks different. (2nd pregnancy) I am wondering why they don't have apps that include some sort of possible uterus size with the baby size? I know there isn't just a blueberry floating around inside me right now all on its lonesome. That baby's got baggage!

@sarigirl1616 - you will likely show earlier in subsequent pregnancies since your muscles have already stretched from your previous  PG. It may not be that your uterus is any higher, but your organs start to shift upwards with growth.   Also, much of this is dependent upon your body type.  Tall women with long torsos will show later.  I'm 5'1" so everything on me is short - I will show very different than a 5'7" person.  I'm 10 weeks and starting to show, but I've got twins in there - 2 placentas, 2 sacs etc.
