just wondering if anybody has been using a nipple shield and successfully weaned off. We started using one probably day 3 in the hospital and kind of wish we never started. I was only having issues getting her to latch on one side and the nurse suggested it. It has worked well so far but I am getting so sick of lugging them around. Plus our dog started chewing them if I forget to put it up, and those things are expensive! A few questions, any advice on getting her to wean, I have read all the kellymom advice.
She seems to be gulping more when I do try- is this normal? I know I have a pretty forceful letdown.
The few times I have tried without she does okay, popping off a few times but does seem to nurse for less time than with the shield, maybe she is just getting milk easier?
I would love to get her off but if it's the only way we can nurse I'm okay with that too. Any long term success stories with using a nipple shield?
