  From what I've read, it's definitely possible to go into labor. However, LO should be turned or delivered via c-section to prevent some serious risks.

  Yes my friend had a breech baby and her water broke and she went into labor

  My baby was transverse then oblique  until 36.5 weeks so I did a lot of reading...yes you can go into labor but it seems pretty difficult if not impossible for baby to get out in that position because the babys shoulder would be trying to come out first. Agree with above poster that they should be attempting an ecv  (turning) or mentally prepare for a c-section...although, baby still has a few days or weeks yet to rotate a little more.

  DS1 had an unstable lie my whole pregnancy. He ended up being breech the day of my scheduled induction. My water broke with him so there was no chance of even trying to turn him. I ended up with a csection.
  Your doctor should either offer ECV or schedule a csection.
  With this pregnancy, DS2 was transverse at 36 weeks. My doctor wanted to try to turn him between 36-37weeks because as the baby grows there's less room to be able to turn the baby. Lucky DS2 turned himself and has stayed head down!
