Thoughts on the name Maximus

My husband and I both like the name Max (if we have a boy - we aren't finding out!). He loves the name Maximus as a full name for "Max." For months I said absolutely not, it sounds like a transformer. But in the past month, it has really been growing on me. What do you all think about Maximus? I can't tell if I actually am starting to like it, or if that's my crazy preggo brain taking over?!! I really appreciate your input.. it helps to get outside opinions and not just family/friends who may be holding back!!

I really like the name Max, but Maximus is nms. I have a friend who just went with Max as his name.

I prefer just Max. Maximus makes me think of the latin name for butt muscles (gluteus maximus).

I love it! I think it sounds very Roman gladiator-esque, in a good way! Plus, he's probably going to just go my Max most of the time right? So I wouldn't worry too much about other people's opinions.

I like Max as a nickname, but I think I'd prefer the full name of Maxwell or even Maximillion (spelling??). I wouldn't have thought transformer when you said Maximus, but now that you said it that's what I think lol

I agree - I'm just getting visions of "Transformers" - but a little boy may think that is wicked cool, and if you like the name...

Also, my husband is a nerd who has this kinda thing all over his office. That may be coloring my reaction...

I love the name Max! Have you seen the movie Tangled? I am pretty sure the horse on there is named Maximus, and he is a pretty funny character.

I love the name Maximus. I am also biased since that is our cats name but I also think its a great name for a boy. However, my husband did name the cat Maximus because of the movie Gladiator

My cousin named his son Maximus. I found it ironic at first because he was born a very tiny premie. But he has grown like a champ and is adorable. My family has become quite fond of the name.

It's not a bad name in the long versions, but I'd go with Max. My sister in law named her son Max... she asked what I thought of the longer versions and which one I'd chose. I told her if she planned on calling him max, just name him max lol. She did, and I can't imagine his having the longer version at all.

I think Maximus can grow on you the more you say it though. It's different, for sure. You can always call him Max but Maximus has a charming potential so I'm kind of liking it!

Love it as it is what we are naming our son! lol We picked it out when I was pregnant with my daughter if she was a boy... and still love it now. My husbands middle name is Powers, which will also be our son's. We wanted a strong first name to go with it. Mostly will be Max though.

It makes me think of a Roman gladiator. Before we knew the sex, DH wanted to name baby Spartacus. I said Hell no! Funny thing is, he actually has a friend named Spartacus and he told hubby not to do it lol.
