Wanting bottles again

My lo has wanted baby food over bottles since the day she could have it. But since her teeth have started popping through she has only wanted bottles again? How much formula does your lo have a day?

Re: Wanting bottles again

  • Maybe she likes biting on the nipple? my boys love biting on the nipples, &hey also love biting down on their spoons.

My boys have 22oz of formula & 7.5oz of solids. Sometimes snacks such as puffs & the Gerber Cheetos.

  • Mine gets 40 ounces a day. Sounds like a lot but it equates to 5 bottles, 8 ounces a piece. And one of them is an overnight feeding. He also gets solids 3 times a day. He's also incredibly stout for an 8 month old lmao so yeah he's probably above the norm as far as food and formula intake goes.

  • 30 oz a day plus two meals.

  • Really? Mine only takes 20 Oz maybe a day and that includes the night feeding before bed and 3am feeding. The rest is some made snacks and babyfood. Is it too early to wean out formula? I didn't notice it went down so much until now.

Formula should still be their primary source of food for at least the first year. The solids I give are basically a supplement otherwise my kid would be on the bottle every single hour. Maybe talk to your pediatrician about this? I'm not sure what they would recommend to be honest so I'm not even going to try to give advice on it but I do know formula should be primary and solids secondary until 12 months.

My boys dont eat that much formula either. They have 3 meals a day breakfast lunch & dinner. Have 4 bottles a day 3 6oz & 1 4oz.. Ive read & doc said with solids @ this age 20-24oz is fine. I think you should leave her where she's @ for now. The only reason i dropped/weaned out a bottle from the boys feeds is because they weren't taking it any more. Maybe do the same& just watch for her cues.

& @shelbydd is right. The formula should be her primary source of food. I think shes fine where shes @ right now. But i also agree to talk to her ped if its something you're still thinking/womdering about.
  • DS hasn't changed his breast milk intake at all since introducing solids. I EP and he drinks about 26 oz a day and has purees 3 times daily.
  • She drinks BM and I can estimate she drank 27ish oz a day before (based on what I could pump). I think she drinks less now. Probably more like 22 oz.
