This turned into a rant more than a confession, sorry!

I stayed home with DS on Wednesday since he was sick (pneumonia and breathing issues, ie really sick). Yesterday DH was supposed to take a turn staying home so I could work, but as usual he had a million excuses why he couldn't, then he concluded that we should just send sick DS to daycare. So I stayed home again. This happens every time we have a sick kid and it's his turn to be home. Then he's completely clueless why my career is basically stalling -- I cover every kid sickness, every kid appointment, and every kid project (like bringing Easter eggs to daycare, or food for a party, whatever). In the car on the way to work this morning I let him have it. He admitted it was unfair, but I doubt anything changes next time.

I don't know why I love it. It's ridiculous to make them be out there naked... and bits I feel are staged, but I soak up every glorious minute of it.

  • I went and got Taco Bell for lunch. I have no idea the last time I ate this when I wasn't drunk at 2am and even that has been years.

A certain someone I spend a lot of time with is being very passive aggressive regarding all baby opinions. "Oh, you're planning on doing X, Y, & Z? Good luck with that." Then later "You can do this! Oh wait...you're planning on X. Ha."
Considering how much she hated that when she was pregnant, I'm shocked how much pouting and judgment she's throwing my way.
Happiness and support...is that too much to ask for?! Otherwise, I might just tell her to GTFO of here until there's a change in attitude.

  • @Butterkup sorry that's happening:( drop dead Fred is like the best movie ever imo
  • Thanks @Thewizardofrhythm. I'm not sure what's driving the need to say something, but I kind of feel like it's a personal issue on their part (It didn't work for me, it won't work for you). Since every family is different and every baby is different, I just don't feel it's appropriate especially with a condescending tone.
I haven't seen Drop Dead Fred in years, but I <3 it...maybe it's time to change that!
  • Yes, Drop Dead Fred is awesome! I haven't seen it since I was a kid

My confession is that I'm apparently going to spend all afternoon on the couch watching TV. I watched TV over lunch, got sucked into an episode of House and just found A League of Their Own on, so there's no turning it off now  ;)

  • My confession is that my husband left for a work trip and I'm secretly kind of glad because it means I get to sleep without him snuggling/cuddling/pushing me off the bed for three whole nights. Now if only I didn't have to get up to pee in the middle of the night...
  • I'm a terrible pregnant vegan.  Like unbelievably bad.  All I want is crappy fast food.  McDonald's cheeseburger, Soft taco supreme, Burger King chicken sandwich..... I want them so bad, I think they are going to stop me feeling like crap but they don't.  I feel worse after I eat them.  I'm ready to feel like cooking again.  And eating better.

@butterkup, my evil SIL was like this when I was pregnant with my first. She seems to have been struggling with depression for years, but 5 years later hasn't yet gotten to the point of wanting to seek help, and has been lashing out at/blaming anyone and everyone else external to her for all her problems. I felt bad for her until she repeatedly was willing to risk my peanut-allergic child's life for some unknown "win" for herself (trying to offer DD ice cream that may contain peanuts 3 days in a row even after we told her immediately beforehand and each subsequent time that DD couldn't have it, and purposely buying the one brand of boxed Thanksgiving stuffing I specifically told her wasn't safe for DD when 2+ more brands were readily available, among other things).

Anyway, evil SIL told me that it was dumb to even try to do a med-free delivery, that cloth diapering would maybe last a day or two until we gave into reality, and that breastfeeding I might as well just give up on since I would probably fail anyway. I was actually really worried about breastfeeding after talking with her, even though my BFF reassured me that she struggled at first but that she was able to successfully BF both of her children. In the end evil SIL was wrong on all counts. Some of it was determination and being prepared, and some of it was just plain luck that enabled me to be successful.

Sorry that was ranty, but don't let negative people get you down! Their story isn't your story and their struggles aren't your struggles. Sure, lots of things about having a baby are hard and we make different choices. And everyone has their own challenges.

I've been eating more Taco Bell since being pregnant; almost as much as when I was 21 :)  I told H the other night that Taco Bell should deliver because I'm sure a majority of their customers are either too drunk to drive or having pregnancy cravings and don't feel like getting out.  I feel like they would make so much more money if they delivered lol.
If you have DoorDash where you live, you can get Taco Bell delivered :)

@kmmnocal .... is this true? Thank God my husband doesn't know that. I'd be rolling him out of the house!

Or pretty much ANYTHING delivered if you've got postmates...they're the shizzz! I went through a super busy season at work a few years ago and I never had time to go get my favorite latte from this boutique coffee shop in SF-- I started having postmates get it for for me. I had to stop that really quick. $14/day for a latte was not a smart spending choice.

I was just talking about this with my husband yesterday. We live in SF and can get literally anything at our door. I was saying how lucky I am to be a pregnant lady in 2016 and he was saying that HE is the luckier one. I agreed. (This all happened because I was seriously considering postmat-ing some cheetos. Thankfully we did not.)

Postmates yourself the pad thai from Coriander! This is why I miss living in SF (down in the peninsula now, without Coriander). I refused to go to the Metreon or basement of the Westfield just to pick it up (uber or parking would have been the same price as postmates), so that was my favorite thing to have delivered... Oh! And Blue Barn. Damn I miss living up there.

  • @SRJR2013 there have been some issues that resulted in the creation of a private group. It's called N'16 Clubhouse if you'd like to request entrance. There is a vetting process so it may take a bit of time for approval.
Request sent! Fingers crossed for access to the cool club.
