TTC After a Loss

TTC after Baby stopped growing at 9 weeks.

edited May 2016 in TTC After a Loss
When I went for my 12 week ultrasound, my baby was measuring at 9 weeks. Few days later I ended up in the ER....blood levels dropped and no heartbeat detected. I has my D&C 3 weeks ago. Anyone get pregnant I between D&C and first period?

  • I'm sorry for your loss.

There are definitely cases of people getting pregnant after loss before AF. If you think you're pregnant, no one can confirm that for you besides your doctor. HCG (pregnancy hormone) can stay in your system for several weeks and can turn hpts positive without you being pregnant again. Have you had your HCG tested since your D&C? How long has it been since the procedure? It's always varied for me, but it has taken more than 6 weeks to drop below 5 which is what's considered "normal" or a "not pregnant" number.

I had my D&C 3 weeks ago. I haven't had my HcG levels tested since 4 weeks ago, when my miscarriaged occured. I just remember my doctor saying to me before the D&C, "if you get pregnant before your follow up, call me".
Thank you for yourresponse, it was my first pregnancy and I still can't believe it happened.

  • I am so sorry for your loss.  Some people ovulate in between a loss and first period post-loss, some don't, so it is possible to get pregnant.  It took my HCG a long time to fully drop to zero (basically the # of weeks pregnant I was at the time of my loss), and right up until I got my period, I would have been turning HPTs positive.  I also had weird symptoms throughout those weeks, and it was very hard not to get caught up in my mind with what ifs.  If you are having similar feelings, I would recommend seeing if you can get a few more HCG data points so you have a better idea of what is going on.

  • I'm so sorry for your loss. :( From what I've heard, most women don't ovulate until their hcg is all the way down or close to it. I kept taking pregnancy tests, and once those were negative, confirmed hcg levels with a blood test. It took me 7.5 weeks and 2 periods to get there, and I also miscarried at 9 weeks. Hopefully the process is much quicker for you!
  • So sorry for your loss...it took me over 6 weeks for my hcg to fall and I ovulated shortly after that. I was told to wait until I had a period before TTC.
  • back in 2009 I was pregnant ended in MC around 9 weeks. Did not get my period and moved across country. I was feeling weird took a test thought it was hcg from my MC it ended up I was preg again, I was in between docs. That one ended in a MC too. So it is possible.. Hope m y experience doesn't scare you.. just wanted to say it has happened. I should have been more ready. Sorry for your loss.. feel free to message me HUGS
  • Thanks for the responses ladies. My condolences to all of you. My follow up isn't until June 1st. I'll just do my best to patient. I just want to feel like a woman again....
