A fellow teacher just came in with Panera Bread bagels! This is exactly what I needed since I am really struggling to stay motivated!! What is going great for you today?
Some of you may have read about the complications following our son's birth. Well, this week, we found out the tumour on my spine was benign and yesterday, I was able to walk a few steps with a walker and some AFOs to hold my ankles. That was an amazing win!
@KidShrink that's great news! Hoping you have a speedy recovery now!
Is it sad that my winning these days is showering and putting on clothes? Primarily because I would love to stay on the couch and be naked all day. Because clothes suck right now.
Amazing news @KidShrink! I hope your recovery is smooth.
My win is I've taken both kids out every day this week so far on my own without any toddler or adult meltdowns. I know it won't always be this easy but I'm taking advantage of a sleepy baby as much as possible.
My win is small, but DS is starting to return to his old self instead of constantly acting out literally every second he is awake! I think part of it is that DH has gone back to work this week after having been off for DD's arrival, so DS and I are starting to get back to his (new) normal routine. Either way, I'll take what I can get because this two kids thing is no joke!
@KidShrink what great news! so happy to hear that!
My wins are that today is my last day of work and at my OB appointment today she scheduled me for an induction so I will have my baby by the weekend! I am SO excited to meet him!
@KidShrink I'm so happy for you! Continuing to send positive thoughts your way!
My win is that I got the bellefit to fit!!! It was a struggle, but I've been able to wear it for a few hours a day for the past few days. I just hope it's not so tight that I'm squeezing everything back into the wrong place .
My son is 7 days old today. I noticed he was really intent on suckling and comfort nursing. On day five he nursed for 3 hours, but instead of his usual nurse for about 20 minutes, fall asleep and naturally come off, he would nurse for two minutes, cry, and try and come back on. My breast was totally drained and so was I. Something I learned in birth class was that some babies are just comfort suckers and you aren't a bad mom for giving them a pacifier. The midwives didn't want me to until 2 weeks for fears it would disrupt my milk production- but I thought about it and decided my milk was already in, we had a very good breastfeeding relationship, and I just didn't think it was good for him to be so upset and have no way to relax. So I gave him a pacifier. holy hallelujah!! He's like the perfect pacifier kid- he only takes it if he needs comfort, he won't take it if he's hungry at all, he pops it out of his mouth when he's done and it helps him so much. Last night, he woke up every three hours instead of every hour and there was a good stretch of the day when he was just awake and alert (which had not happened yet at all!). I also find its way easier to manage his diaper changes. I can't check his diaper every fifteen minutes at night but now it's very reliable, because we nurse, change his diaper, nurse again, and then he's happy for the next three hours. As a first time mom, it was awesome to lean into that mama instinct and do what was best for my kid.

@mrstmoose Haha! Getting dressed is my winning moment today, too!

Today's win is that I'm working from home, with no plans to go back to the office until looong after baby is born. Yay for no commute!

My win is I was prepared when DS started peeing when I changed his diaper... Had the second one ready. It was a dry morning!!
Also, DS is back to his birth weight and up half a pound! I was worried that I would have to supplement so this was great news!
