If you want people to join you're going to have to change your strategy. Most people would only want to join a secret group at this point so you'd have add people after they give you their names.

I'd definitely be hesitant to join a Facebook group for two reasons. 1) It's so early. Like so early. I'm already nervous about being so active here. 2) This is your first post on this BMB. Not only do I barely know the ladies who post here every day, but I don't know you at all. I am definitely not comfortable getting as personal as Facebook with people who've I've known a couple of weeks, and definitely not someone who I just met.

However, I sincerely hope you stick around and get to know us all and let us get to know you!

I'm not opposed to FB groups but it's kind of early for them (I'm in one for my first bmb so I think they can be awesome). Generally, a group gets created much later in the process when people feel comfortable with each other. Let's see how we all feel a little further down the road...

Some day when we know each other better then maybe. And we'll all laugh about how hesitant we once were but until then... stranger danger and all that...

I agree with PPs. I'm very active in the fb group from my last BMB and its been incredible staying on this journey with them. However, the fb group didn’t get created until the month our babies were due. We had a rule that only those that were active on the BMB could join, and there was a deadline when you could join by. We didn’t want any strangers or trolls for privacy reasons. I have nothing against one now, it's just too soon for me.

I joined one 4 months into my pregnancy with my last group. There are 54 of us and it's amazing. We cleared out inactive members every few months and added personal friends and or family with same month due dates. We all have different parenting styles but we all are one big happy family as SILLY as that sounds. Lol. I would say waiting until we are further along with help everyone be more comfortable joining and also making it a private group and adding people by name or emails would be the way to go.

Edited to appease the masses. Sorry I am not perfect or have the time to over analyse others posts. I really feel like if you are not comfortable with what someone has said a simple private message would suffice instead of a public hanging. @cjs260

I don't know how comfortable i would be with that. Sharing my identity like that...especially being pregnant. You don't know what's out there and who you are talking to. And to be like...look at my facebook page so you can see my pictire,first and last name,where i live,where i work when I'm pregnant. Yea i don't know. I'm sure all of you are great bit not sire i want to risk it. Great thought though

My dd bmb didn't make a Facebook until we were about 7 months. I wouldn't join anything really prior to that honestly.

I remember one of the BMBs within a few months before mine (s14) that had a catfish, so it must have been yours. Everybody was talking about it! I don't get why anybody would do that on a pregnancy board.

Yep July 14 it was insane. I mostly lurked back then and didn't interact with her much. But she was very active on the board and did a lot of messed up stuff. Yep the crazies always come out sooner or later lol

Yes she was a 20 something girl who posed as an older 20 something who was married with 4 kids already. She ran a successful wedding planner business with multiple employees. She gave very intricate details about her life. People got suspicious. She then started posting as a second person "her wife" and the regulars called her out. actually the girl lying "Jenn" and regulars involved with uncovering her were contacted by the show catfish. she was stealing pictures from some model in Sweden? Who was actually pregnant. A LOT unfolded

We had a catfish on my FB group for March 13. She said she was pregnant and joined in posting bump pictures and about her other children and then when people were finally having babies she came forward and said "Well, it looks like the doctors were right. They told me I miscarried but I didn't believe them. But I haven't given birth so I guess I was wrong."

say whaaaaaa?!? We kicked her out right then. There were other weird things too.

Despite that, I would still like to join a FB group, maybe after first or second tri? But still have it a be a secret group.

Wow! I'd watch that :-) crazy. Whats sad is it is probably someone is is sad and bored with their own life so they make up this fantasy world they wish they had.

Oh my gosh yes!! I was in the July 14 group (big lurker, this is probably my 2nd or 3rd post ever) too! My 21 month old is literally crawling all over me as I type this.

I was on July 14, hi fellow J14 moms! I was somewhat active and somewhat lurked. The catfish thing was so absurd! I didn't join the FB group for J14 since I wasn't super active on the page, but wouldn't be opposed to it this time, but as others have said sometime closer to due dates.

Yep! Agree with others. I love my o14 group. I joined when I entered my third trimester and it was amazing. Still very active in it now.

@ThePax89 that's funny we are in the same bmb again. I was in O14 too although I mostly lurked that time around I was too nervous to join in early so I never really got a chance to get to know everyone.
