Winning/WTF Wednesday 5/11

Happy Hump Day! How goes it ladies?

Re: Winning/WTF Wednesday 5/11

  • Winning: One of my closest friends since grade school just had her baby boy yesterday. I was the first of our little group of friends to have kids so selfishly I'm excited that she has joined the club. And of course, I'm so excited for her and her DH, they're going to make wonderful parents! I couldn't help but get super emotional when she shared their first photos of him.

WTF: They live a few states away so I won't get to see them for awhile =(

  • WTF pregnancy insomnia? This didn't start until 3rd tri last time around. Why am I waking up every hour of the night?

  • Winning: I went to sleep at 8:30pm last night and it was GLORIOUS.

WTF: OMG, the rain - we're on our longest streak of rain every in the DC region (15 days and counting) and I'm pretty sure everyone is depressed or snappy because of it. What I wouldn't give for a little bit of sunshine.

WTF: Cravings have hit hard today. Every time I thought of food, my mouth started to drool. All of sudden I craved a soda (never drink the stuff) but happily found some lemon-flavored seltzer water a co-worker donated to me that left me satisfied. Also, I announced in our work morning meeting that I was pregnant and the general response was "I'll be sure to stay out of your office"... WTF?!?!?!

Oh.. and my stupid tracker thing won't work in my signature :flushed:

  • WTF: woke up this morning and discovered that I'm just a couple of days from my little bean being the size of a sweet pea! Immediately thought of the song by Amos Lee (one of my favs) so I put it on to listen to it and five seconds in...BAM tears streaming down my face because...it's just so adorable! Yikes.

Then got up and went to my last physical therapy appointment (I was in a car accident 2.5 months ago, car totaled) and got face-down on the table for her to massage my back and was like AHHHHHH MY BOOOOOOBBSSS! All I wanted to do was make a really ugly sheep noise, but held it in check. Barely. Felt an odd sense of pride after that.

What is wrong with your coworkers?? How rude! Some people...

Also, make sure that you press the </> button before copy and pasting the ticker code in your signature settings. Took me a bit to figure that one out. It should make it show up correctly!

    I'm all WTF today.

WTF to my stinky, stinky co-worker. This person has the social graces of a goat (and since they raise them) smells like one, too. Of course, this has been an issue for the entirety of my existence in my current workplace, but when you add pregnancy nose into the equation, I just can't handle it. I'm not sure if it's a body hygiene issue, a clothing washing issue, or because a goat currently lives in the guest bathroom (seriously...WTF), but what is normally uncomfortable but bearable is now stomach churning. It is taking all of my patience to not say anything (which is the current office M.O.), but I'm worried that my leaving the room every time they enter will set off an alarm bell to someone. Seriously, it bothers me how much this bothers me.

    I need a new attitude, but ...

I would not be surprised if it's a goat issue. I was a large animal vet for a long time and, let me tell you, billy goats are THE WORST STINKERS ON EARTH. A man had goats living with him and, even without the goat, we could smell him coming down the hall. Whenever any of my residents had to work on a billy goat, we poked fun at them because we could identify who was on a case by smell alone. Pregnant and smell of goats? OH GOD, no thank you.

  • @katesmama0706  @asnowsurfer  I work with a bunch of very recent college grads who are IT geniuses but lack the social ability that they shouldn't be allowed to speak on any public forum.

  • @cjs260 Yuck, that guy sounds terrible to be around, especially while pregnant.  And wtf to a goat living in a bathroom.  Strange on so many levels.

WTF to some of my incompetent coworkers today.  Apparently half the people I work with are completely incapable of doing anything for themselves/cannot give self direction for simple tasks they do everything. For example, filters were delivered yesterday, unloaded by one person and left in an obvious location.  Another person came to ask if we had any filters.  How did he not see them?  Why did no one talk to each other? I do not have the patience or energy for this.

@ashanne88 It really can be difficult, but I've always held more pity than anger towards them. I feel that someone must have neglected to teach them some basic hygiene things as a child (they have some obvious dental issues as well). Like I said, avoidance is currently my best course of action.

@Josie3=5 This must be it. I did some research on a sheep farm a few years ago, and I've often told H that it reminds me of that smell. We would wear the same clothes all week so that we could just throw them away at the end of it or donate it to stay at the farm, where there were washers and dryers specifically for the farm clothes. And yeah... it lingers for sure.

@Ali Grindell some people can be so insensitive/clueless to the things they say. Yikes.

@asnowsurfer so sorry you had to go through that! I'm glad things are looking up for you. I get the boobs hurting thing though. Mine are incredibly sore so i can't imagine lying there like that

Winning: there is an OB doc in my area that is hard to get into but i tried anyway. Apparently january is an uncommon month to have a baby because she was able to take me as a new patient. YES!

WTF: i love what i do,don't get me wrong. Im a nurse in cardiac ICU. Yesterday this 400lb lady wants to get into bed. She is so incredibly short her butt doesn't reach the bed but she is too big amd wide to stand on a stool. Not to mention she can't get up on it. Normally gets around with a scooter and can stand and pivot at best. I told her if she wants to get into bed we are going to have to use a lift. She tells me "no. Can't you just get another person to help lift me?" um.....what? I told her we have a 30lb weight lifting restriction (which is true) so that would take 13-14 people. She nust said "I'm not subjecting myself to a lift." i was like..."well I'm not lifting you nor is anyone else. I'm sorry so we need to come up with a plan." she slept in her recliner. Why do people think it's ok for behavior like that? I'm not denying her to get into bed but i want it done safely for her, myself or anyone else helping. Ugh
  • Winning: Did not kill anyone due to raging hormones.

WTF: I went into Walgreens today to buy some laxative for my DD. I was so happy they had it, and excited to give it to her cause the poor girl has been so uncomfortable. I get upstairs with her, go to open the box, and it clearly had a piece of tape closing it....sketchy. Then I open the bottle and the tamper seal is completely broken. WTF was my first reaction. WTeverlovingF. I had to make hubs return it because I thought I was going to scream at the manager.
I don't remember being this angry in my first pregnancy! Its really intense and kind of ridiculous.

@KarliQ88 I guess she really thought she was checking into a luxury hotel and not a hospital.  I'm all for patient satisfaction, but things like that drive me crazy.

WTF first:  My spotting got worse last night and through this morning and I also had continuous moderate cramping so I called the advice nurse and was scheduled for a same day US.

Winning: Everything is good!  I measured appropriately and was able to see a tiny heartbeat.  I had all these questions, but once that showed up on the screen I just stared in shock.
  • @Salilast326 i don't understand why you didn't give it. I mean it sounds legit with tape and everything (sarcasm ifyou couldn't tell) yikes!!! I'd be upset but glad you didn't give it. You never know these days.
