Baby Names

Name for Baby #3 too close to Olivia?

Hello! We just found out that baby #3 is a girl and we keep coming back to the name Eva. DD1 is Olivia but almost everyone calls her "Liv." Is Eva too close to the "-via" sound in Olivia for the people that do use her full name? We don't want to seem lazy in this baby's name like we couldn't think of any other sounds to name with but we love the name in itself and are thinking it may be different enough of a name regardless of the similar sounds. Any input would be appreciated! Thanks!

Yes.  Too close. Like when people name their daughters Erin and Erica. Just don't.

I personally wouldn't do it. What about Evangeline, nn Eva? Or Ava is not quite as close?
  • It would be too close for me and I would think that upon hearing it for another family.

  • Not to close at all. Eva is lovely! What is your other childs name?
  • Thank you all for your input! My son is Ryan so most of the time it would be Liv, Ryan and Eva. I guess I didn't think twice about it sounding too similar until recently because we live in Texas where a lot of siblings have very similar sounding names (Addie/Kaylee etc).

  • Maybe a bit too close? I have mixed feelings so I can't give very helpful advice. I do like Eva though!
  • I know an Ava & Olivia, and I think it works. It's a little close, but if you love it go for it.

  • I actually don't think it's too close.
  • I don't think it's too close, especially since it's Liv most of the time.
  • Not too close at all! It's not like it's Emma and Emily! LOL
  • It is a bit close, but I definitely wouldn't side eye it.

I don't think they're too close. Similar, yes, but not inappropriately so.
