Hi everyone. My name is Sarah and my DH and I have been TTC for a little over 2 years now. About a year ago I was diagnosed with PCOS and he also has mild male factor infertility. We just stared seeing a specialist and she is recommending us to try IUI. (Only because his numbers are only slightly low.) We have done 3 rounds of Clomid under just my OBGYN and I only ovulated once out of those 3 months. My RE wants to continue with Clomid and possibly a trigger shot. We go in on Wednesday to decide if we want to go with the IUI or IVF, figure out finances, and decide when to start. I thought this would be a good place to come for advice and support. It's been a long, emotional couple of years, and it's not getting any easier. My friends and family don't understand and I feel extremely alone in all of this. I hope to meet people who are going through similar experiences and offer my support as well. Best of luck to everyone.

@Toby102008 welcome and hope your stay is short!! I also have PCOS and find it to be quite obnoxious at times. I completely understand feeling alone!! I think PCOS by itself is pretty isolating, but then to add infertility on top of it....awful!! hoping you get a quick BFP!!

@srh18 Thank you! I'm sorry to hear about your PCOS as well. It took my obgyn forever to even give me the diagnosis as I am not the typical PCOS patient. Only through bloodwork and ultrasounds of my polycystic ovaries were they able to come to the diagnosis. My best friend seems to think that by "relaxing" my ovaries will somehow work and I'll conceive. If only that was the case!

Relaxing your ovaries??? Bahaha! Why didn't I think of that for my PCOS!

Yeah, don't take any fertility advice from her. Welcome, I hope you're not here long. We jumped right into IVF bc the chances of success with an iui were very low. It worked for us, so I'm a fan. Let us know what you decide.

Welcome! I too have PCOS and it's not easy to deal with. I've had it since I was about 15 and was told all along that it may be hard for me to conceive. Don't feel alone, you certainly aren't, and this group is filled with lots of support and ladies who are going through the same thing as you are. I hope you find lots of support here and you stay is short.

Welcome @Toby102008 ! Another PCOS lady here. Sorry you got the infamous "just relax" advice. How anyone thinks that is helpful is just beyond me. Anyway, I haven't tried Clomid yet but I do ovulate with Letrozole and a trigger shot. There's hope! Good luck to you.

Welcome! I can relate to the MFI stuff, since that's what we're dealing with. I feel like it's such a rollercoaster and my heart pounds before each IUI as I think, "What will the count be this time?" Sometimes it's up and the analysis is within normal range and sometimes it's way down. GL to you with your treatments!

Thank you all so much. It's so nice to finally be around people who understand. We just got the results back from my DH's second SA and his numbers were all higher than the first. Count was very high and the motility and morphology were only slightly under the normal range. Does anyone think they will try the Letroxole since I didn't ovulate well with the Clomid? I didn't know how similar the two were. Hoping our appointment goes well tomorrow. I'm super anxious to get started. I think we will try the IUI seeing as it's way cheaper and insurance doesn't cover any of it.

@Toby102008, my RE went straight to Letrozole with me as she said she thinks it works better for PCOS. If your doctor does mention Letrozole, you should ask about supplementing with progesterone too, as my doctor said Letrozole can have a negative effect on those levels.

@LizzieJ13 I will talk to her tomorrow about it. They have to give me progesterone to start AF so I'm not sure if that means I have low progesterone or not. I just don't feel like the Clomid is going to work for me. I went in for mid cycles US and my follicles never were as big as they were supposed to be on day 14. I didn't O until CD22 the one time I did O.

@Toby102008 I just want to welcome you and wish you luck at your appointment. I also feel alone, I've chosen to not discuss my frustration about my infertility because I don't want ridiculous responses from friends and family, but thankfully the ladies here have been so supportive.

@Toby102008 good luck tomorrow - figured I would bring up the progesterone issue as it wasn't brought to my attention till Letrozole cycle #3 and now my RE is ALL ABOUT me taking it from 2dpo till 14/15dpo at least.

@msjen11 Thank you! I'm with you that it's very hard to talk about to friends and family. People don't seem to understand it unless they have been through it or are going through it. It's awful we have to all feel so alone, but great when we find out that we aren't. I've heard just about every ridiculous comment possible. And from a person I thought was my best friend. The whole "relax and it'll happen when it's meant to" has me going crazy! I'm glad you are getting support here and I'm glad I found you all.

@lizziej13 Thank you for mentioning the progesterone issue. It's really good to be informed of anything and everything when going through treatments. I wouldn't want anything to interfere with a successful cycle.

@toby102008 forgive her ignorance she just doesn't understand like you said. I had a "good friend" tell me "you obviously don't have enough sex, is he cheating on you". I choose to forgive because she has been cheated on and I can waste energy with so much on my plate. This was when I was oblivious to my infertility issues.

@msjen11 Wow, that sure doesn't sound like a good friend to me. I don't understand how people can say some of the things they do. I'm sure they mean well, but they don't understand the hurt that their words can cause. I will try to let it go, and focus on the good.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for good news tomorrow!

@Toby102008 did she give you advice on how to relax your ovaries? I'm a therapist and none of my relaxation and mindfulness books mention that one. Lol!!

@srh18 Nope, no advice on how to relax them. Lol. Just be patient and it'll happen when we "stop trying" I didn't know you could conceive if you didn't try? But she know everything.
