High Risk IUGR

Anyone high risk for possible IUGR? My 1st born was in the 2nd percentile and baby 2 is measuring in the 25th percentile.  I'm being referred to a specialist now at 25 weeks. What are my chances of not being induced?  I was with my 1st and it sucked. Anyone in this boat? How often did you have to see the specialist for possible IUGR and high risk?

Re: High Risk IUGR

  • You may get more of a response on the "high risk board" under pregnancy. :)

  • My 2nd had igur. I was pretty much weekly monitored by 30 weeks with my mfm and regular dr. I'm not sure what the chances are of not being induced since I had to be at 38 weeks because growth became too slow. However, I was able to avoid a c section that my mfm wanted because of my incredible regular dr and midwife.
  • I also had IUGR with my first. I will start weekly visits at 28 weeks (24 weeks 4 days now) with my OB just for precaution. They don't seem to think IUGR with one pregnancy will predetermine IUGR with subsequent pregnancies.  She is already measuring a little behind (just one week). They have not mentioned a specialists as of yet.

My first was born at 36 weeks via c-section (IUGR/breech). I had 2 cm of amnio at that point, so they delivered. She was in 2nd percentile... remained under 10 percentile (except her head) until she was about 18-24 months. I feel like she is just now catching up to her peers in the height department (3 years 4 months). I am curious how your first is growth-wise.

I think induction will just depend on if your baby is showing any growth or not once you get further down the road.

My first was IUGR, induced at 36 weeks. I saw my OB once a week and specialist once a week (So basically BPPs twice a week) between 28-36 weeks. I didn't have any problems but since my IUGR was caused by the placenta, 36 weeks was the cut off.

My second dropped down to the 15% percent and I had weekly BPPs between 32-29 weeks. He was a healthy 7.5 pounds.

This baby was in the 20% percent at 20 weeks so we'll see. I've got a growth ultrasound in 2 weeks!
  • I'm not sure what will end up happening, but you aren't alone! I only have half a uterus so I am also at high risk for IUGR. I have a growth scan in 6 days to see how baby girl is doing! I'm so nervous!
