7/04 bride.....

I just noticed you are in Conneticut.  I dated a guy for a long time whose parents lived in Darien.  That place was just like a children's picture book.  My gosh, it was pretty.

He went into the City to work one day while we were visiting and he told me to catch the train and meet him.  He said to just get off at the last stop.  I was horrified!  I said, "How do I know it's the last stop, do they screem out-last stop!"  He and his parents were like, "yeah."  Needless to say, I did make it to the city that day.  LOL!

Good memories....my point, Connecticut, from what I've experienced, is just amazingly beautiful.  You're a lucky lady!

Re: 7/04 bride.....

  • Yep, Darien is one of those "picture-perfect" towns near me.  I have to say, though, that the behind the scenes stuff that goes on around here isn't always as pretty.  People around here have a LOT of money and a lot of them like to flaunt it.  Of course, everyone isn't like that (I have cousins in Darien who certainly aren't like that), but there are definitely a lot of snobby people that really ruin things for everyone.  I taught in one of the affluent towns in the area and found that a lot of kids have a sense of entitlement.  I could go on and on!

I'm sorry to burst your bubble and I DO think Connecticut is beautiful....I just wanted to say that things aren't always as perfect as they seem.  We often talk about moving out of the area to be around more "normal" people.  By the way, I'm not at all implying anything bad about your ex-boyfriend's family or anything....

  • LOL!  Come to think of it, yes, he did feel like the world owed him something and then, more!  Very pretty though!  Someone ought make a movie out of all the scandal around there!  I still think you're a lucky lady. : )

We used also go sailing on the Long Island Sound....such good memories.

  • Have you ever seen the Stepford Wives (I have yet to actually watch it)?  It was filmed in the area and a bunch was filmed at the house of a student at my school....Get this - they owed the family about $1 million in "extra" money for over-time at the house, etc. and the mom said that if they flew them out to the premiere, they'd call it even!  Can you believe that?  Ummm...how about donating the million you don't need to some good cause?

And that's too funny that you had that thought about him thinking he was owed something!
