Rants/Raves/Questions:
GTKY: While we are lovingly referred to as "geriatric mama's", we must have a youthfulness about us to consider having kids after 35. So...Spill your secrets to youthfulness!! What do you do to stay feeling young, looking young and being healthy and fit both inside and out.
Good morning mama's!! Currently sitting at the check fil a indoor playground so my son can run some steam out. He's been getting up an hour earlier this week, wtf kid?! And I'm sleeping, at most, in 90 minute increments. No more sleep....ever:( we registered at the hospitaL yesterday, got a bit excited!

feeling decent, last month of pregnancy is just awkward and uncomfortable regardless.
Baby girl girl up a lb, get to take the week off from tests. Back at it Tuesday.
key to youthfulness, ha! Right now I feel like a wrinkly mess and if my mom tells me one more time when we FaceTime that I look exhausted, I'm going to reach through the phone! But really id say exercise has kept me sane and feeling young. I've been into sports and exercise since I was a kid. And I think good genes help!
How are you feeling? I feel good. Definitely getting tired more easily. Did a 3 mile walk (very slowly) yesterday and then another 1 mile one after DH was off work. I was definitely feeling it. Pre-pregnancy, that was a breeze, even with my toddler on my back. Exhaustion is also affecting my patience level with my toddler. Trying really hard to take deep breaths before reacting.
Any baby news (tests results/scans/upcoming appointments?) we have our echocardiogram on Monday. So far, I've done pretty well and just relaxing and having peace about it. As usual, the closer it gets, the more difficult that becomes. Praying a ton for a good report. I'll definitely update after we have the appointment.
Rants/Raves/Questions: nothing much. I could rant and rave about DH--sometimes he seems to completely forget that I am pregnant and might need a little extra help and then other times, he's super sweet and picks up a lot of extras to help me out. I wish we could be more consistently in that second camp! also, end of the term is here. I have been up past midnight grading almost every night. I can't wait to be done.

oh gosh. I'm with @Wyattnash00 ! Right now, I don't feel especially youthful. But I do think, for me, it's a lot about mindset. In my mind, I'm 27 (random, I know)! I try to just keep an adventurous outlook on life and remember that curiosity (mine and my toddler's) is a wonderful thing. Even (especially?) if it means slowing down.
I don't feel great. I have a constant, low-grade headache and nausea that doesn't go away regardless of what I do, and I feel lightheaded when I spend too much time up and about. My blood pressure is high, but not dangerously so, and I had an OB visit on Wed where everything else looked okay, so my OB just wants to watch things. She told me to call if my symptoms got worse. Now I'm just hanging out feeling miserable and anxious. It's hard to for me to know if this is just typical for the last month of pregnancy or if it's the first sign of something like pre-e or severe PIH brewing. I can't shake the feeling that this baby may be forced to arrive any day now, and I'm not ready physically or emotionally.
I hike mountains! Seriously, hiking and backpacking got me into shape in my mid-30s and I've never felt better or been healthier in my life. Being in the woods for hours at a time and then on top of the world at the summit also provides a tremendous psychological and spiritual sense of well-being.

@redheadbride15 -- I'm sorry you aren't feeling well. I hope it's nothing too concerning. I'm sure your OB will keep a close eye on you and baby. Every day gets you a little bit closer! I hope you can rest a little and not worry too, too much. Easier said than done, I absolutely know!
I'm sorry @redheadbride15, you're feeling crappy. You know your body best and your very close to the end. If things get worse don't hesitate to call, always better safe then sorry.
How are you feeling? Physically I'm feeling great minus the constipation and occasional fatigue. Emotionally, I'm still have my good and bad days.

I've been posting mostly in my BMB and PGAL, so I thought I'd try here. Did anyone else have issues with a NIPT test having no results and have everything turn out ok? My Dr did warn me that women who get "no results" have a greater risk of chromosomal abnormalities.

Oh wow! I don't feel youthful at all these days!! The only thing I will say is that I've had a pretty strict workout habit since my mid-20s which helps maintain energy.
How are you feeling? Feeling good mostly, occasional nausea, and tired but not too bad overall.
Any baby news (tests results/scans/upcoming appointments?) Panorama results cam back normal and we are having a Boy! Yay!

@chloe97 i don't have any experience with "no results" sorry your tests came back like that!
How far along are you? 31w2d
How are you feeling? Generally pretty good! Had my back adjusted on Wed. and feel so much better! I'd been having a lot of consistent rib and mid back pain for the last couple of weeks and boy did it make me grouchy!
Any baby news (tests results/scans/upcoming appointments?) DH and I went to a Childbirth Class last night which was worth it. He definitely got bored and had trouble focusing about halfway through (he has difficuly learning through traditional teaching methods) but I appreciate his support and willingness to be engaged. It was a worthwhile exercise!
Next appointment is next Tuesday and I believe it is actually my last monthly appointment. Not sure what to expect from this one. I will probably make some more appointments. Hopefully we'll get an idea of how big the baby is!
Rants/Raves/Questions: First an update: talked to my Dad yesterday... it went. My timing was not great but he agreed that he had been extra grouchy (shitty) lately. I think I will have to approach this again. It's interesting gaining some insight into my Dad's personality and how I and the other members of my family relate to him. I feel pretty good about where things stand and at least I've opened up the topic and I feel like we can make some progress!
Next a rave: DH and I are going to Maine for our last pre baby get away. I can't wait to sit by the ocean and hear it roar even though the weather is not supposed to be very good.
GTKY: While we are lovingly referred to as "geriatric....
I love to play. I try not to take myself too seriously. I've practiced yoga for 18 years (whoa half my life now), I play video games and I love to party. Of course the definition of "party" has changed quite a bit for me over the years . I also love scatalogical humor and try to have adventures on a regular basis!
@chloe97It's very possible that your "no results" is because the blood draw was so early. Most of the tests are not validated for use before 10 weeks, and my OB office won't send the test before then. It just takes a while for the fetal DNA to get into your bloodstream at a high enough level to be reliably detected. It is true that the rate of "no results" is higher with fetuses with chromosome abnormalities, but I also don't think that's the most likely cause in your case. Good luck, and I hope you'll keep coming back and playing with us! I think this is the best board on TB.
@rspalding001 congrats on your good Panorama result and your baby boy!
@lillebowski23 Haha, my DH would be an unfocused mess at a childbirth class too. We went on an L&D tour last night which lasted about 30 minutes and that was just about all he could handle. He does better reading things on his own and asking me tons of questions. I didn't sign up for a childbirth class because I didn't think it would be worth it for me - I've attended many, many births in my career so I kind of know what to expect. Also, glad you have a good convo with your dad.
Thanks everyone for your support. I'm hanging in there. I just feel like I'm willing away the last few weeks of my pregnancy - wanting them to pass in a heartbeat instead of savoring these final moments of being just me and DH, and getting things ready. I'm just anxious to get to term.
Me: 40 DH: 43 Married 5/30/15 TTC #1 June 2015 BFP #1 9/28/15, EDD 6/10/16. DS born 5/23/16! TTC #2 May 2017 BFP #2 m/c 11/18/17 5w5d BFP #3 12/17/17 EDD 8/25/18. It's a boy!
How far along are you? 22 weeks! Time is flying by!
How are you feeling? Felling kicks every day now which is very exciting. Still doing well with no major complaints yet, a bit more winded and it's weird not to be able to breathe as deeply as usual. I was on a plane the other day and I think the baby was going through a growth spurt and I almost had an anxiety attack because it was feeling hard to breathe. Sometimes I get anxious about baby taking over all the space.
Any baby news (tests results/scans/upcoming appointments?) Just sailing along for now, no midwife appointment until May 19th.
Rants/Raves/Questions: I'm starting to feel like I really need to get my self together and start getting organized with the baby stuff. But I kinda have to wait until I have a shower to see what still needs to be bought. STM's at what point did it start to be too uncomfortable to do housework/organizing/painting and other manual labor to get ready for baby. I figure around 30 weeks or so it will start being less feasible, do I need to get everything ready before that?
GTKY: While we are lovingly referred to as "geriatric mama's", we must have a youthfulness about us to consider having kids after 35. So...Spill your secrets to youthfulness!! What do you do to stay feeling young, looking young and being healthy and fit both inside and out.
Ahhhhh com on you guys, I know you all are spring chickens
After studying holistic and alternative medicine for the past 10 years I have concluded that health can be simplified into 3 categories. 1.sleep 2.digestion 3.emotional well-being. When these 3 things are good, things are right with the world. My first category to always gets thrown off is sleep, when I am stressed I will notice my sleep going wonky before I even realized how stressed I am. I believe staying as low stress as possible helps the body and mind to stay young! My meditation practice has helped me see just how detrimental certain types of stress are to me and how important it is to work through my emotional well-being on a daily basis in my practice.
My latest area of interest that I have been studying is the endocrine system (thyroid, hormones of reproduction and pretty much all of the hormones in the body that makes us tick.) The endocrine system is key when TTC and being pregnant. I can say from personal experience that once I started to feel my hormones come into better balance after working with a naturopath/endocrine specialist, I felt amazing. I was able to get my thyroid from sluggish to optimal with supplements and herbs and I believe it helped my stay pregnant and be less hormonally crazy throughout pregnancy.
I never believed in vitamin D deficiency, but after having my blood tested and being obviously deficient, I have noticed such a huge difference since starting vitamin D supplements. I really think it helps my immune system stay really healthy and I haven't caught any colds in forever (I used to get 6 or more a year before I started studying acupuncture and changing my lifestyle.) My midwife said that good levels of vitamin D also show a link to better progression in labor and productive contractions vs women who are deficient.
I think a moderate amount of the good kind of fat is really important for nice healthy glowing skin and also for brain activity. I cut out vegetable oils like canola and sunflower ect... about a year ago and I only cook with ghee, coconut oil and use olive oil for seasoning. The body needs good fat! I've read that the vegetable oils are a huge contributor to inflammation in the body, and nothing will make you older faster than inflammation.
Speaking of skin I listened to an expert a while back who said the thing that will have the most impact on your skin care regime is exfoliating 2-3 times a week. I just ran out an need to get more of my stuff! I like clinque exfoliating scrub.
If you are interested in the sort of stuff I am talking about above, there is an AMAZING online health summit starting tomorrow. It is totally free and this is my 3rd year "attending" and I LOVE LOVE LOVE this summit. you can find the info here: https://www.hayhouseworldsummit.com/welcome I just turn it on while I am cooking or in the car. There are a lot of speakers to choose from and that can get super overwhelming, I just pick a couple that look good and leave the rest. Even if you just listen to one talk it can change your life.
@Sporty1216 I'm so happy you only have a few more days until your appointment. All my fingers and toes are crossed for you!!!
@redheadbride15 Ah man I am sorry you are feeling so yucky. I hope it resolves and that you can enjoy these last few weeks, and if baby comes early, you got this mama. You are strong an brave and you will be ready if you need to be!
@rspalding001 congrats on a boy!!! I think at this point the boys are outnumbering the girls on this board!
@lillebowski23 That is awesome you had the talk with your dad, I am so proud of you I know that stuff isn't easy!
@createillumination, I'm all over the place with when you can be ready for baby. With first baby I was sooo prepared at around 32 weeks, felt great until 38, so cleaning, laundry, painting can happen at any time. 30 weeks still sounds early to me to be all set up. That was great info on why you feel so young! I try but cheat every now and then to stay sane
@lillebowski23, solid beginning communication with your dad, it's a start. Have a great trip to Maine! One of my favorite places on earth!
@redheadbride15, all your feeling is just normal. Like these are the last weeks just the two of you, it has to be great. In reality, it's just the worst part of pregnancy and anxiety is all over the place, whether you feel well or not. Just try to stay sane, go to a movie with your hubs and do low key things. You will have time just the 2 of you again!
I agree with @Wyattnash00 -- i put so much pressure on those last weeks to be special time for me and DH. Really, it should have been about surviving and trying to keep me and baby feeling as well as possible. There will totally be "us" time again--it will be different, but it will still be good. We were only married for a bit over a year before LO came, and I think that's true for you too, right @redheadbride15 ? I think that added to the pressure because it felt like we hadn't had much time together as the two of us (and we hadn't). But it will really be okay. You'll be ready for baby when baby comes. In the meantime, try to be kind to yourself and know we're all rooting for you!
@Sporty1216 yup, our first anniversary is May 30 - just a few weeks away! We started TTC on our wedding night I was surprised that we were able to conceive as quickly as we did - I had prepared myself for a long, uphill battle. We have been together for 4 years total though, so we've had some time to enjoy just the two of us.
Anyway, thanks everyone for validating that my end-of-pregnancy feelings and worries are normal. You're all awesome!
I am trying to convince DH that we need to go to the movies. Anyone seen anything good recently that they want to recommend? My mother went into labor with me in 1977 while watching Star Wars in the movie theater, so it's always seemed like a good thing to do at the end of a pregnancy. Actually, the theater is perfectly located a few blocks away from the hospital!

How are you feeling? Mostly ok, but very tired at the moment. I'm currently resting on the couch because I'm tired to go home from work!
Any baby news (tests results/scans/upcoming appointments?) A/S next Thursday and 20 week appt the next day.
Rants/Raves/Questions: it's Friday! That is all Oh wait, I have a question. Any recommendations for soap/baby shampoo? Either STMs who use it already or FTMs who have decided on something?
GTKY: While we are lovingly referred to as "geriatric mama's", we must have a youthfulness about us to consider having kids after 35. So...Spill your secrets to youthfulness!! What do you do to stay feeling young, looking young and being healthy and fit both inside and out.
I've always felt young because I'm the little sister, was nearly the youngest in each class in school, I'm short, and for many many years looked a lot younger than I was. I still occasionally get told I look younger, but I think my age is showing more now on my face. That is taking some getting used to. Maybe working with kids helps too. I get a chance to play and laugh a lot and be silly. They push a lot of my buttons at time too so I think that's also speeding up aging in a way!
@BernieRae --we use babyganics orange blossom nighttime bubble bath (or something like that!) I ordered it because I could do Amazon subscribe and Save with it and I wanted something more natural. It turns out, I love it! It smells really nice and it doesn't irritate lo's skin or eyes.
@rspalding001 - congrats on your good results and your little boy!
@chloe97 - welcome to this group. It's a great group of women and I've really enjoyed starting to get to know them!
@redheadbride15 - I'm sorry you haven't been feeling good. I hope things start to improve so you can relax some through the rest of pregnancy.
How far along are you? 11w 5d
How are you feeling? I am feeling alright. I've started having heartburn and back pain, especially when I'm sleeping. I need to find a way to get more exercise. I have been mopey recently, and I think exercise would help.
Any baby news I got the results of my NIPT test yesterday, and baby looks perfect! My next appt isn't for 3 more weeks, but I'm feeling more confident.
Rants/Raves/Questions: I'm so happy that H is finally home for good after being in and out travelling for work over the past 3 weeks!
GTKY: While we are lovingly referred to as "geriatric....
I don't feel all that young these days. But one thing that's made a difference for me over the past year has been consistently having a girls' night out with some friends. We make it a point to do it once a month, and I was surprised at what a difference it made in my emotional state. I run an in home daycare, so my adult time is fairly limited, and much needed.
Exercising also helps me in this area, but it has been sorely lacking since January bc of H's increased responsibilities at work. I'm working on finding a solution.
@createillumination - I'm not team green, but I also didn't find out the sex. We're waiting for the a/s. I know it's silly, but I found it weirdly anticlimactic when I found out so early with my 2nd daughter. I think it seems more real when I can actually feel a baby in there. There is a button I could press on the website where I got my results, and H thinks I'm nuts for waiting, so we'll see if I can make it a few more months or not.
38 weeks, 1 day How are you feeling? Energetic and optimistic (besides being an emotional mess here and there...) Any baby news (tests results/scans/upcoming appointments?) I was still 1cm dilated at my last appointment but I've been having tons of contractions these past few days so maybe there's hope of going into labor by my due date after all. My next NST is Tuesday and then I have another check-up on Wednesday. I will be induced around 40 weeks if nothing happens before so maybe we can get that on the books! Rants/Raves/Questions: Rant- My DH is annoyed with me for being a crazy pregnant woman. I can understand his point of view but time is running out and we still have quite a few projects to complete before baby #3 gets here. After the birth, I will be completely useless so the pressure is on! Rave- I've gotten so much accomplished in our house these past few months so I'm looking forward to relaxing a little bit before the baby comes (after I finish my to-do list of course!) How are you feeling? OK, my heartburn really increased on Thurs/Fri so I started on a prescription med. It isn't helping much so far. I'll give it till Monday, I guess. It's just awful. Every time I eat...

Things went well! They no longer see a cyst in her brain and her great vessels are just where they should be. The umbilical cord has two vessels, but he said it looked like it was compensating just fine. As for the heart, he said there may be a small septal defect, but it's not anything he is particularly concerned about. He said they'll just keep an eye on it and also on her growth. She was in the 21st percentile today and be thought she was growing just fine. So, now we have two great doctors looking after our gal. Thanks for the prayers and happy thoughts. Please continue to send them baby girl's way as you think of it. We would be so grateful.
Really--thank you all! I can't tell you how much your support means to me. I'm grateful we'll be tracking things closely. If the possible septal defect is in fact there, it would likely mean surgery by the time baby girl is 3. But honestly, right now, that sounds manageable. We hope and pray that defect corrects itself if it is there, but it's nice to know what it would require if it doesn't. He didn't seem to think trisomy 18 was a concern for us, and we can't really know about downs or anything like that without doing an amnio. So, we'll wait and see and pray for health, just like we did with our son. And, we got confirmation that she is in fact a girl, so that was fun! Excited to be able to be more relaxed for future ultrasounds and enjoy seeing our girl grow!
Anyway. Thank you. Your support is a real treasure. And I will tell baby girl about it someday. She is so loved and cared for--including by a wonderful Internet community of geriatric mamas.

Next appointment is next Tuesday and I believe it is actually my last monthly appointment. Not sure what to expect from this one. I will probably make some more appointments. Hopefully we'll get an idea of how big the baby is!
Rants/Raves/Questions:
First an update: talked to my Dad yesterday...

It is totally free and this is my 3rd year "attending" and I LOVE LOVE LOVE this summit. you can find the info here: https://www.hayhouseworldsummit.com/welcome
I just turn it on while I am cooking or in the car. There are a lot of speakers to choose from and that can get super overwhelming, I just pick a couple that look good and leave the rest. Even if you just listen to one talk it can change your life.

That is all
Oh wait, I have a question. Any recommendations for soap/baby shampoo?
Either STMs who use it already or FTMs who have decided on something?

I've always felt young because I'm the little sister, was nearly the youngest in each class in school, I'm short, and for many many years looked a lot younger than I was. I still occasionally get told I look younger, but I think my age is showing more now on my face. That is taking some getting used to. Maybe working with kids helps too. I get a chance to play and laugh a lot and be silly. They push a lot of my buttons at time too so I think that's also speeding up aging in a way!
@Sporty1216 - hope all goes well on Monday!
@redheadbride15 - hope you're feel better soon and feel prepared when baby decides to arrive.
Rants/Raves/Questions:
I'm so happy that H is finally home for good after being in and out travelling for work over the past 3 weeks!

How are you feeling?
Energetic and optimistic (besides being an emotional mess here and there...)
Any baby news (tests results/scans/upcoming appointments?)
I was still 1cm dilated at my last appointment but I've been having tons of contractions these past few days so maybe there's hope of going into labor by my due date after all. My next NST is Tuesday and then I have another check-up on Wednesday. I will be induced around 40 weeks if nothing happens before so maybe we can get that on the books!
Rants/Raves/Questions:
Rant- My DH is annoyed with me for being a crazy pregnant woman. I can understand his point of view but time is running out and we still have quite a few projects to complete before baby #3 gets here. After the birth, I will be completely useless so the pressure is on!
Rave- I've gotten so much accomplished in our house these past few months so I'm looking forward to relaxing a little bit before the baby comes (after I finish my to-do list of course!)

I don't think I have any secrets but I'm a Gemini and I've heard we are eternally young!
How are you feeling? OK, my heartburn really increased on Thurs/Fri so I started on a prescription med. It isn't helping much so far. I'll give it till Monday, I guess. It's just awful. Every time I eat...
Any baby news (tests results/scans/upcoming appointments?) Nothing new...
