I had started to write the check-in and saw it was already done! Changed my GTKY into a longer form general GTKY for us to all chat about.
1. What are your favorite personal care/beauty products (commercial and home-made)?
2. What do you do to pamper yourself when you feel like you need a "pick me up"?
3. Did you ever have a product that was discontinued that you loved and can't find anymore?
4. How do you feel about make-up?
Re: GTKY: Self Care / Beauty
2. I'm not a big pamperer, as far as these things go. I have really sensitive ginger skin, so most products and techniques aren't super fun for me.
3. Hmm, don't think so! One of my friends used to manage a luxury good store and wouldn't pile on the samples of $500 creams and such, so I miss her discontinuing that job because no more La Mer for me.
4. I feel great about it! I love when people find something to say with it, I love when it makes someone feel more comfortable in their skin and I think it can be so, so much fun to play with. I hate that it's mostly an obligation and that there's a serious double standard about makeup. I also don't care for people who don't wear makeup voicing their strong, negative opinions on it.
I don't wear it in my everyday life, but if I go out to socialize, I'll do up my eyes and cheeks. I was allergic to a lot of my eye makeup, so I didn't wear any for a long time, but I've found some good stuff that is fine. I used to wear fun, bright lipsticks but strangers kept telling me a I looked like someone insulting (who I look absolutely nothing like), so I just can't really find the confidence to do it anymore. I've never been one for a long beauty routine, even in my younger years when I did wear makeup daily, though. I don't have a talent for these things, like some people seem to have! I love when I have the desire and opportunity for a cat eye, as it took me years to master and it's so vintage and cute.
Cool questions, I can't wait to read everyone's responses.

2. What do you do to pamper yourself when you feel like you need a "pick me up"? I like to do face masks when I have extra time at night before bed.
3. Did you ever have a product that was discontinued that you loved and can't find anymore? Origins used to have this product called "halo effect" and it was this shimmery/blush like product that was sheer and perfect. They of course don't make it anymore and I have been miking my last bottle by mixing it with face lotion for months.
4. How do you feel about make-up? I wish I was better at it! I honestly rarely wear any. I sometimes will wear clear mascara. I should probably learn...
2. What do you do to pamper yourself when you feel like you need a "pick me up"? I don't really do a lot of 'beauty' pampering. My pick me ups tend to be more in the form of chocolate cake or a new book.
3. Did you ever have a product that was discontinued that you loved and can't find anymore? Garnier Fructise made a shampoo/cream rinse called "length and strengh" that was great for my oily hair. But they stopped making it. Additionally, I used Pantene Pro-V forever until about 5 years ago when they changed their formula and their products started to make my hair look like I don't shower.
4. How do you feel about make-up? I like makeup.

Oh this is right up my alley
1. What are your favorite personal care/beauty products (commercial and home-made)? My list is long! I will just select a few favorites. I do a multi-step Korean Beauty routine for skincare. Some of my favorite components are: Paula's Choice AHA & BHA, Goodal Waterest Water Oil, Benton Snail/Bee essence and CosRx AIO snail 92 cream.
For years I did OCM and was really happy with how it changed my skin for the better. But as I age I found it wasn't quite enough for my skin anymore. I have found the KB routine to be super relaxing and pampering and I love it. It took me a while to get a lineup of products that I love though.
2. What do you do to pamper yourself when you feel like you need a "pick me up"? Sheet masks. Also, a peel off mask once a week for gentle, extra exfoliation.
3. Did you ever have a product that was discontinued that you loved and can't find anymore? Yes, I used to get this most perfect peel off mask at CVS drugstore and then suddenly the product just disappeared off the face of the earth. Sadness.
4. How do you feel about make-up? Love it. My routine is pretty basic, but most days I do Dr Jart BB cream, Lorac porefection concealer under eyes, MUFE translucent powder, blush, Buxom mascara and lipstick. I never wore lipstick in my life until last year when I was 35 and it was a total game changer for me. Now I feel naked without it.

1. What are your favorite personal care/beauty products (commercial and home-made)?
I am currently in the midst of changing to cruelty free products for all my make up and beauty. I am happy to have found some brands that I like and are not super expensive here: L'bel has a full set of face creams and serums as well as make up. I also discovered Burt's bees also has some make up so I am happy to be trying their coloured chapstick and chubby lipstick.
2. What do you do to pamper yourself when you feel like you need a "pick me up"?
usually a hot bubble bath. I have to leave the door open or I get dizzy though! I also like going to get my nails done professionally.
3. Did you ever have a product that was discontinued that you loved and can't find anymore?
There is one perfume by CK that my husband gave me as a present once, but now it is discontinued!
4. How do you feel about make-up?
I love it! my daily routine is quite fast but complete: clean tonic and moisturizer. Mascara, eyeliner, liquid foundation, powders and lipstick.
I just found a liquid lipstick by L'bel that is matte finish and velvet looking I love it! It is long lasting too.
I am still looking for a really kiss-proof lipstick that is cruelty free. I used to buy maybelline 2 step 24hr lipstick, it worked perfectly, but it is tested on animals...

2. What do you do to pamper yourself when you feel like you need a "pick me up"? I dye my hair blonde (I'm usual brunette) I have done this on/off since I was in college. Going to the salon to get my highlights is very relaxing- I love getting my hair washed. I also like to get massages or facials and getting a pedicure- I rarely paint my nails.
3. Did you ever have a product that was discontinued that you loved and can't find anymore? Not that I can think of!
4. How do you feel about make-up? I like make up. I basically use it to even out my skin and cover up undereye circles or blemishes....I try to look as natural as possible. I don't wear eyeliner or eyeshadow much- only on the weekend. I've tried to dabble into contouring but haven't really gotten the hang of it yet. I don't wear lipstick either. I used to never step out of the house without makeup no matter what but now that I'm older (and probably being married helps) I just don't really care what people think of me anymore so these days if I go to the grocery store or out to breakfast without makeup, I'm not going to have a panic attack.
2. When I really want to pamper myself I get my hair colored and cut. My hair is really long and I tend to go months and months between appointments. I also like doing home pedis.
3. Since I never really buy the same products over and over I can't think of anything that I used to like or use that has been discontinued.
4. I love make-up. I've worn it every day since I was probably 14 or 15. I won't even go to the grocery store without mascara on (I have light hair so my eyelashes seem to disappear). I wish I was one of those people who could go around without makeup on but I'm just not one of them. My skin is too uneven and like unsaid before, my eyelashes are too light.
I typically leave the house just wearing moisturizer with sunscreen. I had two basal cell carcinomas removed from my face last year. Sunscreen is essential.
1. What are your favorite personal care/beauty products (commercial and home-made)? N/A
2. What do you do to pamper yourself when you feel like you need a "pick me up"?
I do love a pedicure. I don't get them often, maybe like 2 or three times a year, but it's a lovely treat when I do.
3. Did you ever have a product that was discontinued that you loved and can't find anymore? N/A
4. How do you feel about make-up?
I want other people to feel good about their appearance and be comfortable. If that comes from being in full make up, then so be it! (I do wish more women appreciated their natural beauty, regardless of their make up habits.)

2. 1-2x/year mani/pedi and that's about it. Pick-me-ups are generally related to food :-)
3. Bath and Body Works once made a green tea and cucumber lotion but discontinued it. Bummer-I don't want to smell like any type of citrus fruit.
4. I'm lazy too with makeup-moisturizer and a little pressed powder before leaving the house, that's it. I finally learned to apply it in my early 30s, and it looks nice, but also takes too much time for me.

For pampering I love a pedicure - but I don't treat myself nearly enough. Now that I'm doing yoga daily (day 34 complete) I am looking at my toes more - that may inspire me to treat myself more, or at the least to do my own nails more.
In terms of make up - I wear foundation and bronzer nearly every day - I love my mascara (Blink) but I don't use it often. I'd like to do my eyes more often, but I'd rather sleep longer in the morning...

2.) Manicures, pedicures, I sometimes get blow outs at the salon for special occasions.
3.) Not that I can think of.
4.) I love makeup. I highlight and contour my face. I usually do a natural lip. If it's day time I keep my eyes minimal too. But if it is evening I go more dramatic with the eyes. I've played around with false lashes but they're a PITA. I love E.L.F makeup. I don't like to spend a ton on it. Sometimes I buy Mary Kay from my MIL.
One mental head trick for me is if I'm feeling bad emotionally I make sure to really drag myself together and put on a cute outfit and some makeup. It immediately makes me feel marginally better. Stupid, I know. But when I feel my worst, I try to look my best. Maybe a fake it til I make it mechanism?

One really stupid life changing tip for me (for example ), I used to put my concealer on under my foundation, but, I've noticed a huge difference when I apply foundation first and then put concealer on top and sort of blend and buff it.
I still cannot apply false eyelashes to save my life.
1. What are your favorite personal care/beauty products (commercial and home-made)? Here are a few of my favorites: Walmart sells these microfiber face cloths (like $2 for a 3-pack) that are AMAZING for taking off makeup. In a pinch, you don't even need cleanser, but I'm telling you they will take off every last bit of makeup and they feel great; I have oily skin so keeping makeup from sliding off my face is a challenge. I heard you could use Monistat's Chaffing Gel in place of expensive primers - and it works! Like $6 for a tube that will last you twice as long as the $30+ expensive primers. Amlactin lotion is the only thing that cures the "chicken skin" on my upper arms (pilaris keratosis); I have dry curly hair and the Loreal Advanced Total Repair 5 conditioner is amazing. They also are constantly running coupon promotions, so if you time it right you can get it for like $2 a bottle :-)
2. What do you do to pamper yourself when you feel like you need a "pick me up"? Definitely a mani/pedi. I don't splurge on them often, but every now and then....
3. Did you ever have a product that was discontinued that you loved and can't find anymore? I am terrified of that happening so I try to stay well-stocked. If I ever heard about something going out of production I'd probably be like Elaine on Seinfeld with the Today Sponge and hoard cases of it.
4. How do you feel about make-up? The older I get, the more I appreciate it! LOL
