Can follicles get smaller?

this may sound weird but can the follicles that we saw Wednesday on the sono get smaller? I had about 8 that were over 10mm and I'm hoping they're growing but my I can't feel symptoms today that I have been feeling for the past couple days. I have another sono tomorrow so I'm sure I'll see then. I'm just worried bc I do t feel as uncomfortable down there as I have the past few days.

Re: Can follicles get smaller?

  • I don't know if they can get smaller but my nurse told me that as some get bigger, they can take over some of the smaller ones and sort of push those ones out, if that makes any sense.

Hope your our sono tomorrow goes well and you see some nice big follies!

    Thanks!! I'm hoping they're growing :)
  • Hi, hun! I'm sorry you're feeling this. But I truly hope this is only a little bit of panic. Still here is a bit of info on the point. This is what I was told once about follies growth at the initial stages of our journey. Some follies don't respond to stims at all. That's why AFC can be high, but still get lower follie count when you start. Then the follies that do start to grow might get to a certain size then stop growing. This is where they would start shrinking.
I'm also not sure if follies can hide. It would seem possible since ovaries are 3 dimensional. And they are using a want to look through your uterus to your ovaries. Did they ever say what number they wanted you to reach before trigger?
I hope you get to ask some questions while your scan and find out what's going on. Good luck. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you. And keep us updated if possible. B)
  • Unfortunately yes they can..that's what happened to me this cycle! Good news is after another round of femara, they grew again. I ended up not triggering until CD 25, but hey, it's still triggered!
