What is your little one listening to?

Any songs your little one loves to listen to and coo to?
We basically are all about Frozen (listened to that through out pregnancy due to my patients loving it and DD1 loving it too) and My Little Pony. Looking for other awesome music to have her listen to.

We do a lot of Disney, DS especially likes The Bear Necessities. He also really smiles at "What does the Fox say" which DH loves to play to annoy me. It's growing on me now after a couple dozen listenings.

I love the Last Unicorn from Return to Pooh Corner and we listen to it frequently in the car.

  • Pandora is amazing!
Adele station and Coldplay station are her favorite. Disney station not so much. It makes it great to sing to when I run out of things to talk to her about. That way she atleast hears words. Also how I get her to sleep.
  • She loves Turnpike Troubadours (probably because that's what I listened to during pregnancy) and Disney. She loves anything from the Lion King :)

We had a Taylor Swift dance party yesterday morning, but I don't think she was as into it as I was. Recently we have also listened to Pitch Perfect and Across The Universe. She mostly just likes it when I sing to her, although a song she loves one day she won't care for the next, so I have to switch it up a lot. I think she likes hearing new sounds and combinations...
  • DS gets a total mixed bag.  I am into anything from oldies, country, some pop, and R&B. He gets an earful when he rides in the car with me.  We play DH's Elvis channel on Pandora throughout the house on our two portable bluetooth speakers.

Whatever we listen to! Haha kids music annoys the heck out of me. I'm keeping it a secret from him for as long as possible. It didn't occur to me until adolescence that anyone but my parents could choose what music to play in the car or home, and I'm hoping he'll be the same.
  • Yeah. Kids music drives me and DH bananas. She likes everything like mommy and daddy. I can go from Marilyn Manson to wu tang to Frank Sinatra to Bruno mars. Its really bizarre lol. She loves when daddy sings. He has a beautiful voice
  • I'm so glad I'm not the only one with a hatred for kids music (excluding Disney of course). This kid is going to be able to rap anything Eminem by the time he's 3... Which is his father's fault :)
  • For those of you that hate kids' music--have you heard kids' music within the last 10 years? It's gotten way better. A lot of artists are former rock/punk artists that switched over and had more success with kids' music after having their own kids. Try Dan Zanes and Ralph's World. Both feel more folk-sy than juvenile. (Dan Zanes has a CD of showtunes that have been folk-i-fied. We love it.) Also, Laurie Berkner is the best! This is kid #4 to listen, and I have to say, I was secretly pleased that we didn't have to retire her. She was in child development, and noticed that kids didn't enjoy the traditional songs. She started writing her own. Kids like to stomp? They become dinosaurs marching, or stomp around in their boots. Again, mostly her and a guitar, so not nearly as annoying as Barney!
As for the non-kid things we listen to, we started her out with the list I played when I was in labor--some praise music, lots of low-key stuff. She isn't a big fan of male voices. The two big exceptions--"No Diggity" came on, and she nearly launched herself out of her seat she got so excited, and she loves the original cast recording of Hamilton, the musical.
  • My girls a country bumpkin. She loves tim mcgraw and brantly gilbert when shes feeling wild. But specifically she loves die a happy man by thomas rhett. I listened to it a lotttt when pregnant and she actually gets excited when they come on. Its cute.
