I took Ryan to the Y swimming for the first time today - he's 22 weeks now. He's always loved his bath, so I expected he would enjoy it. He loved it. I put him in a swim diaper and initially had a life vest on him, but took it off and opted to just hold him tight and close to me. He loved it! At first he wasn't sure about the cool water -- but once he got acclimated he kicked and played and smiled and screeched for about a half hour then got tired (and fussy) and took a 2 hour nap. Anyone else have a fish? Any tips/ideas for fun baby and me swim activities?
Re: Taking Baby Swimming
Im not sure if you a reusable swim diaper or not but I would buy another one as a back up. Swim diapers will only hold in poop but not pee. So if they poop you will need a back up. I always waited into I got to the pool to put DD in a swim diaper so she wouldn't have an accident in her car seat.
I'm not sure if you're using disposable or re-usable swim diapers, but I just wanted to add that we haven't had trouble with bathing suits fitting over disposable swim diapers. If it's a tight fit, we usually just get a different bathing suit in the next size up. (I like their bathing suits to be on the looser side anyways...it's easier to get off when they're wet that way!)

Saves money and keeps from wasting unused baby cloths lol
If if we are going to be out for any length of time I usually do a long sleeve rash guard and bikini bottoms on the girls (over a swim diaper for my middle) and then my youngest will wear trunks and a rash guard.
