How are you ladies bathing your LO? Typically we put him in his tub but I came across this article on how cobathing can be very relaxing and beneficial for mom and baby (skin to skin). Have any of you ladies took a bath or showered with your LO?
My DD LOVES showering with me. It's so relaxing to her. I will worn you though... they are slippery as hell! I have to hold on for dear life. Or just have her wrapped in a wet towel to give her traction. But she just loves the water coming down on her. I don't take baths so we haven't tried that
I've taken baths and showers with little man. He loves it. Lol even though we mostly do this if he has a spit up that got all over myself and him. Very slippery. I will usually have my husband take him out first.
This is the only way I bathe my little guy! It's so fun. We can nurse, and "chat", and play little games. Way more relaxing. He loves the shower toI. DH often takes him into the shower in the a.m. which sets him up nicely for another little nap. Have fun!
My fiance and I take turns bathing with our LO. He got stressed out when we bathed him in his tub, but when we get in the big tub with him, we allow him to float while we hold his head and shoulders and he loves it. He always breaks out with the biggest grin.
I tried the bath and failed miserably. I spent the whole time trying not to let her slip into the water and then she pooped in there. Gross lol. You ladies make it sound magical so I guess I should keep trying...
Hi ladies lil man loved everything about his bath lastnight. I sat him in his bouncer while I stepped in and put him on my chest while he got adjusted to the temp. Held his shoulders and his head he grinned from ear to eats hike floating and kicking around. We will def be doing this more offen.
Oh ya I mostly shower with him as opposed to bathing him separately. I did with all my boys. It's so peaceful. I have my husband hand him in to me and take him. I also take the baby bath bed thing in with me. So 1st I take a couple washcloths and put them on him so the water spray isn't too harsh on him and that way they aren't slippery. It's a bathtub/shower. I point the water on us and we sit and lay in the shower spray for a while. Then when it's time to wash him I put him on the bed thing out of the direct spray and do all the washing there. Then hand him out to my hubby. That way I'm not holding him while he's all slippery. I absolutely love it and so does he!
When you bathe with your babies, do you let their ears go under the water? I freak out about keeping his ears out (10 weeks old), and am worried about him getting an ear infection of water gets in his ears (should I be worried?)
@dem068a I didn't at first, but once he was more comfortable I did. I just made sure to dry both ears out with a dry towel. But if your concerned I would keep them dry.
For a while our LO would only tolerate showering with us (he HATED his bathtub!) But now I give him a bath in his tub every night and he loves it! He has a little cold so last night we coshowered (for the steam) then filled the tub and switched to cobathing, and our sweet sleepy little boy decided to poop in the tub! Oh the joys!
Re: Cobathing with baby
Good luck.
she pooped lol! I'll have to do it again soon though because it was such a nice bonding experience.
