Where do you buy LO shoes?

There have been posts about where we all purchase baby clothes so I thought I'd start one about where we purchase baby shoes. At what point do you or did you get 'real' shoes rather than just the cute ones that are more to make an outfit complete? DD isn't walking yet so was thinking once she is we'd go to Stride Rite. Figure it's not necessary to get real shoes now since her feet are still growing. She's so into her feet and playing with her cute little socks that I've put off the shoe buying but am considering it soon.

Re: Where do you buy LO shoes?

  • I get the boys shoes @ Journeys Kidz. Thats the only place i find them small enough & 2 of the same shoe & size.

We get them the soft shoes they have, not the hard regular heavy shoes because they are still small. We bought them their first pair of shoes around 2-3 months but they would only where them when we had a party to go to, or on a holiday. Now that their bigger i try to put them on every time we leave the house. I leave their shoes off when we're home because just like your daughter they love their feet.

  • No shoes yet here. Just socks. But with my first two, I got them shoes when they started walking. I remember going To Marshalls or TjMaxx because you can find good shoes for decent prices. I remember getting my first a pair of teevos for like $12. And then we found her the cutest black/pink DCs too!  I actually still have those saved because they are so cute!
  • just socks but when I do get shoes I'm getting some sift soled ones handmade off www.etsy.com :)
  • No shoes yet,  here.
  • I didn't put my kids in shoes until they were walking.  I love Pediped.  I found them at local shops or Nordstrom.  Also See Kai Run brand for wide feet.  One of my kids had wide, the other had narrow.  I think baby is wide.

Strideright. we just bought "prewalker" shoes last week because he only wants to stand and walks with our hands if we're holding them and daycare wouldn't let him till we bought shoes. They are light flexible but with a rubber bottom that's grippy
  • He is a size 4

He looks so big! Mine wear a size 2. Love the way he's sitting in the cart lol.
  • I have had soft soled shoes or slippers on LO all winter, just for warmth. Drafty old (119yo) house, and she's mostly on the floor. I like robeez style shoes for early walkers too because it lets them move their feet naturally. For cooler weather, padraig slippers are the bees knees. The soles hold up well on decks and grass, but they do get worn down from concrete.

Except for dress shoes, DD1 didn't have hard soles til she was 14mo. I found brands vary by width, so your best bet depends on if their feet are chubby or narrow. She's alternated between Toms and Converse for everyday shoes.

Babies R Us has a ton! Usually we don't put shoes on LO, but I just bought some soft soled sandals for him to wear when we go on our beach vacation when we're out and about or helping him walk on the beach - he loves holding on to our hands and walking now :)
  • The most flexible shoes or none at all are best. Babies feet continue to grow and take shape.

  • @vibarra27 yes he's a big boy. 20 lbs and who knows how tall now. Looking forward to june for our 9 m visit and a height check. He's bigger than a few 1 year Olds at daycare!
  • My kid has wide feet so finding shoes that fit width-wise that aren't like an inch longer than where his toes are is difficult.

  • No shoes here yet but when I do get shoes I'll be going to stride rite!
  • None yet but will get Robeeze type when it's time.
  • We got Nike tennis shoes and sandals at babies r us.  We had him measured at he Nike store and he was a size 2.5 so we went with a size 3 and they fit really well especially with socks.
  • The See Kai Run brand runs very wide and they're super cute!  @shelbydd

LO currently has various colors of mocassins fromEtsy shops. We'll go to Stride Rite and get fitted around 10-11 months when LO will be standing unassisted. My mom buys the first pair of "real" shoes. It's her thing and I'm not stopping her :)
