Ok, maybe I just had an amazing doctor with my first, but I HATE this OB office. They are always behind, and unprofessional.
I just went in 2 weeks ago and made my first appointment. Which was today. Do I see a doctor...nope. It's just to ask me 3 questions about my paperwork. They tell me to schedule the soonest appointment possible since I'm already at least 8 weeks.
The first one the scheduling lady offered me was the 1st week of June! I said no it needs to be sooner. So she moved it to May 25th.
I think it's ridiculous to not see anyone until 12 weeks and then I won't even be seeing the actual OB, I'll see a nurse for my pap, and get blood work and an ultrasound.  So my first actual appointment with a doctor will be at 16 weeks.

I'm probably over reacting but this place is terrible, I was here for the start of my pregnancy with my son, and it was terrible then too. But it's literally this or drive 2 hours to another office. Which I would do if we weren't moving anyway.

@DiFazette I am too. I just happened to get this thread up before my WTF hit. My WTF is at this 'flu' like thing. H had it last night, and it hit half way through 1st hr. I was really not prepared to need a bucket while on the toilet.

Not pregnancy related at all but here's my WTF moment for the day... I'm a teacher at my school districts alternative high school (the school where the 'bad kids' get sent to), been there for 6 years now, and there's always kids being little assholes to me but today was a first; I had a 15 year old male student tell me to 'suck his dick' because I told him he was being disrespectful to another teacher... Yep. Like wtf you don't even have anything to suck. You're barely 15.

@gigemily09  my MIL works with special kids (both high end and those with disabilities) and a few years ago she had a 6 year old tell her that. He also cursed like crazy. It broke her heart because she knew his home life was a hot mess.

That's the most awkward thing I've ever heard. What do you even say to that?! What can you say?

My wtf is about my mil. She has to stay with us while her place is having a wall replaced. She has no respect for my decisions for my LO and being almost eight weeks with my second, it's making me angry. Sometimes I just want to slap her and say if you can't respect my wishes, you need to leave. Any suggestions for telling her to buzz off nicely?

My go to response is, "We just have different parenting styles and that's okay." With a huge smile. Then I walk away.

My wtf is from a few days ago. It's long. Sorry in advance. Backstory: DS is allergic to corn. We didn't find out til he was 18 months- after months of high dose meds, a hospital stay, endoscopies, swallow studies, an NG tube for four months, a helmet, failure to thrive, feeding therapy, etc. so his diet is pretty limited. He is on the small side and we're desperate to get him to eat more/gain weight. We discovered that Tim Horton's honey dip donuts/timbits are made without corn syrup or cornstarch and although DS doesn't seem to like many sweets, he loves them. It sounds nuts but it is so exciting to have some "junk food" that he can eat! We stop for timbits for him once a week or so. This was my visit this past week:
TIm Horton's employee (THE): Here you go have a nice day.
Me: Um, m'am these aren't honey dip. They look like the regular cake donut holes. (Which have corn syrup and cornstarch)
    THE: They're glazed.
Me: Yeah I see. But I ordered the honey dip timbits.
THE: We're out. *annoyed, F off look on her face*
Me: Okay, I wish someone would've said that when I ordered. My son can't eat these bc of a food allergy.
THE: *blank stare* We're out of honey dip. Those are basically the same.
Me: (trying not to yell/cry) Can I please have two honey dip donuts instead of timbits then? I won't even ask you to do a refund. I just want to get my kid some donuts that he can safely eat. Do you have those?
THE: *storms off then returns with two donuts in a bag and shoves them in my direction* Have a nice day. *walks away*

WTF?? Why can't you just tell me when I order that you're out?? Thank God I looked in the box before I drove off bc DS was in the back seat asking me a million times "Can I have my donuts now mommy, pwease???"  I know that it's definitely NOT their fault that my kid has an allergy. And I wasn't even mad that they were out! But my first tri hormones coupled with my momma bear protective instinct was so freaking mad that the employee wasn't even trying to help me and basically wanted me to keep the donuts my kid is allergic to. I seriously almost cried when I pulled out of the drive thru. I know many people are ignorant when it comes to food allergies and some could care less, but my life basically revolves around keeping my kid healthy and trying every day to get him to eat enough to grow- why did she have to be so nasty?!

@PharmDMom I hate when they do that! If you don't have what I order, you need to ASK me what I want to do, not just try to give me something else I might not want.
Last saturday I took my daughter for donuts and I asked for regular plain glazed donuts. The worker handed me a bag with chocolate iced.  She then argued with me that its what I ordered... and that those were plain glazed. Finally another worker overheard, grabbed them for me and apologized saying I had ordered correctly and rolled her eyes at the other employee.
Now whenever I go I won't get in her line lol.

@PharmDMom Omgsh! I'm sorry that employee didn't have any care at all!! And to secretly switch the product and hope you'd leave and not notice is just wrong! Thank goodness you noticed before you handed the bag to your son! That employee needs a letter written about them.

The switching the product and hoping I wouldn't notice is what really bothered me!! I'm thankfully not blind so I could clearly see these weren't what we ordered. Why did you even try to act like you gave me the right thing? I seriously considered writing in via their website but honestly, we were in a shady part of town after his dr appt and I just have a feeling no one in that store would care about my experience. So I didn't. I know that sounds mean to say but most of the employees looked like they were annoyed to be there and didn't have a care in the world about the customers.

I would've said "Um I think I know the difference between saying "chocolate" and not saying it." lol It is annoying when people try to argue with you. I'm in retail so I know sometimes you are trying to explain a mistake but most times you just need to make it right. And come on, it's food we're taking about, just give a woman what she wants to eat and no one gets hurt. ;)

@doodleoodle yea, it's a bit ridiculous, I just kind of turned around and walked away, our assistant principal was dealing with him at that point and he got suspended. Crazy kids these days! They have no respect!

@PharmDMom - while not as bad as you, I can commiserate with going through hell to figure out what's going on with my baby to learn that it's a food allergy. DS is allergic to dairy but doesn't have any typical symptoms, he just stopped eating and growing for a while. It was the most stressful time with many tubes and tests!!!

I get the feeling of being glad they've got something fun to eat!  My boney baby now has a perfect pot belly :)
im glad you guys got it figured out though corn I think may be one of the most challenging to deal with - it's everywhere!!!

@slartybartfast It's nice to find other allergy moms who can relate! It definitely was the most stressful time In our lives.  His started as a severe refractory case of infant GERD which led to an oral aversion, so he wouldn't take any bottles at all hence the NG tube placement. Little did we know until months later that corn is a key component in most formulas so that's why the GERD wasn't going away. Unlike your DS, L can have dairy bc when we switched to whole milk he improved until he began eating more table foods (Cheerios of course have corn and were his favorite around 12 months). I finally ditched our GI specialist and went to a new pedi last June who took a long look at his chart and told me he was allergic to corn. We cut it out completely, got off all prescription meds and he has been GERD and eczema free ever since. We are still working on the pot belly haha but he is doing so much better overall!! The kid still is in 24 month clothes lol but as long as he doesn't have a feeding tube and will actually willingly put some food in his mouth I feel blessed!! Thanks for sharing. :)

Gah. I can totally relate. My daughter has a severe peanut allergy and while I completely understand most people don't understand food allergies bc they don't have to deal with them, a little compassion would go a long way.

@PharmDMom In case you didn't already know, kosher stuff doesn't have corn in it.  My SIL has a corn allergy, and she loves Passover season because all the kosher stuff really comes out in force and she can eat it all.  :)

@emisi One of my coworkers told me that a while back!! It's the only place I could find corn syrup free pretzels! Which DS wouldn't eat. But whatever. lol I will admit I kind of forgot about it so I will be definitely checking it out again next time I shop. DS is trying more new things these days so I need to see what new stuff I can find in the Kosher section to have him try. Thanks for the reminder!!
