2 weeks post-partum cesarean and experiencing upper abdominal pain...

I delivered my son 2 weeks ago via cesarean section and last night and today I've been experiencing pain in my middle to upper abdomen.  It feels like a stretching or pulling pain....that's the best way I can explain it.

Anyone have insight or similar experience?

  • If it feels like it kind of comes and goes when you change positions and is alleviated by lying down, that's normal. If it's constant and you're not finding any relief, or if it was triggered by a strenuous activity, you could have bruised something inside. You're still healing and you're going to feel pain in waves even after you think it's all over, unfortunately.

  • No similar experiences, but I was just discharged after my CS and the doc indicated that any upper abdominal pain was a reason to call, because you're still at risk for preeclampsia even after you deliver. Might be worth checking in.

I felt something similar yesterday. I think I'd been overdoing it, as my bleeding had also increased. I tried to rest a lot yesterday and I feel much better today. I have been carrying DD in her car seat too much, I think...it's so awkward to carry and puts a lot of strain on those ab muscles. I also think mine could have been gas pain, as weird as that sounds...everything inside is still probably out of place and tender! (I am 3 weeks post c-section) At the same time, it never hurts to put in a call to the nurse line!
