September 2015 Moms

2nd time, I'm the worst mom

When my daughter was 9 months, we were on vacation, she wouldn't sleep on her own, so she slept with me and fell out of bed. It was low to the ground and it was carpet, she was fine. But it's always haunted me.
Lo fell out of bed this morning. Our bed is higher and the floor is laminate. I think he fell on his belly, he cried right away, no obvious bumps or anything. He's crawling, eating, all that's normal, but I'm still paranoid. I m afraid to put him down for a nap.

What do you think? Should I keep him up? Have him nap in a room with me? Am I being overly paranoid?

Don't worry momma, it happens to everyone and babes get a bunch of bumps and bruises despite our best intentions! I would monitor and use your best judgement. If something seems noticably "off" or if he appears in pain I would go in for a check. If the behaviours, appetite, diapers, etc are all normal then just monitor but try to not worry. It will be ok!

Ditto this. DD thinks she can crawl on air...and she crawled right off of our bed and the couch. We've been keeping an eagle eye on her ever since. Don't worry too much, especially if everything seems normal.

I would just watch for puking/unfocussed eyes - any concussion symptoms. But because you are so paranoid, you probably already would've noticed that. So your LO is probably ok
  • Little man has fallen off the bed twice. Once before we knew he could roll and it was where he always slept. The second time him and DH were napping and I was at work. He had a big bump on his head. First time I called the doctor second time I closely monitored him, both times he was fine. Needless to say he no longer sleeps in the bed.

  • Rolled off the couch facedown onto hardwood floor and she's perfectly fine.
