I'm active in another internet community and we often do 'Question of The Day' - since we're all in 'wait and see' mode until the first appointments start rolling in, I thought it might be fun to do this here, especially as our community grows.
Who wants to play? Today's question/ask: 'Describe yourself in five words' - feel free to add in whatever else is on your mind.

Things that I wish I were but am not: hip, culturally cool and laid-back. I'm a scientist with a science brain that weighs ALL LIFE DECISIONS through the lens of the data available. House shopping? Let's look at market analyses. Scared of Zika? Let's see what the current research shows. I'm your go-to person if you want to find evidenced-based resources but I'm not the person you want planning your next awesome social engagement - unless you want a project management plan, with milestones and a detailed budget

Science girl here, too! I love seeing other science-minded people here @Josie3=5! Even though I'm worried a bit about Zika, I'm SUPER excited about the ways it's going to be able to be used as a research tool once we know exactly how it works.
As for me, I can be brutally honest, and I'm learning as I grow older how to soften that. I think I've been through some negative things and came out stronger the other side. I'm always dedicated to the task at hand, as well as relationships. I (think) I have a very well-rounded 26 years of experience, which allows for a pretty eclectic outlook. (Also, my house is decorated in a very eclectic style). AND I love EVERYTHING colorful, the brighter, the better!

@Josie3=5 I feel you on wanting to be "laid-back." But yeah, I think being fixated on data is way more fun in the long run. When we started TTC, I started to develop an app that would combine my temps, my Fitbit daily resting heartrate, and some other data I was logging just to see how it all correlated. I can't imagine anything being less "laid back" than obsessive data collection

yesterday my H told me we "fucked up our first dance song" and texted me a link to Cat Stevens' Hard Headed Woman ::eyeroll:: very cute H....
I'm a pro-intersectional feminist, and not an actual scientist like some of you rad ladies but I can't tell you how an argument with science-backed data and intelligent response gets me, ::fans self::

Love that there are some so many science lovin' feminist women in here!

Since "intersectional feminism" was specifically a term coined by a black woman for black women it makes me more comfortable to be pro-intersectional and not claim the term as my own.
(I promise not to turn every thread into a feminist rant unless asked or if it's really damaging though! This isn't a feminist website so I understand where I am)
That's a total fab explanation - many, many thanks! I totally get where you're coming from and why you distinguish it so specifically. I've struggled with the whole 'feminist' label for many of the points you capture. Insightful!

I sit on my couch and try to think of all the things I could be cleaning or organizing. Then I click play next on my Netflix. I like to be around people and make them feel beautiful. I work in customer service so I can put up with A LOT of shit and still smile
