  • @caseyw8784 Woo, sounds like you had some fun. :( It's always hard starting a new family and figuring out where holidays are going to be. We'll probably end up saying for at least the first year "if you want to see us, you have to come here."

  • @KirstenCas so sorry about ur cycle.
  • Hope everything went well to those ladies doing their ER today! @tusername @mtpbadger  and @ultratomato
I wish you luck tomorrow at your beta! Time is going by so slowly for me and I can only imagine how much it will crawl once im in the TWW! I was freaking myself out last night about the weight gain once I start stims. Of course I don't care about getting bigger once im pregnant but I really don't want to look pregnant before I am!! Have you guys found anything to help decrease the bloat?

@KirstenCasso sorry about your canceled cycle. :(. I must have missed it, what was the reason it got canceled?

Tomorrow we have our injection class and then Friday I am so pumped I am going to my first acupuncture treatment!! :)

  • Good question @chicandbubbly - I'm interested as well. I'm currently taking Lupron, but don't think the bloat will happen until Menopur/GonalF. Recently I've been trying to work out a lot more, because I'm not supposed to starting 5/14. From then on I'm planning to take daily walks to try to keep some of the weight off. I've also started to eat healthier - no chips, fries, desserts, junk food etc. Substituting fruit and veggies for those fatty side items when we go out to eat.

Anyway, that's my plan. Would love to hear from the ladies who actually have gone through it before!

  • Hi ladies! I've been MIA from this thread as I got way behind on the posts and it was hard to catch up to what's been happening here. I've been much more active on the March/April thread, but I've been reading some of your posts here and there when I can. I'm going to be much more active and will try to catch up on all the activity! I just want to say that I'm glad to see so much going on here, lots of follicles growing and some ER's happening. I wanted to send happy thoughts and a speedy recovery to those of you going through your retrievals. I believe I saw @mtpbadger and @tusername have their ER's today. Good luck ladies! @kristencas I saw your cycle got cancelled. I'm sorry to hear that. I look forward to reading the other updates and getting to know the ladies that I don't know yet through the other threads and re-engaging in conversation with the rest of you!

  • @chicandbubbly I'm on day 6 of gonal f/menopur and unfortunately the bloat and weight gain is something I couldn't control.  I tried to stay active as much as possible before hand and eat well but once you start doing the stims it's definitely hard to keep that up with all the other side effects, you just don't end up feeling like yourself.  At least I haven't but maybe it's different for everyone.  I think I just prepared myself that I would experience temporary bloat and some weight gain but it only lasts for a bit and then you can get back to normal.  I think of it as if that's what I have to do to have a healthy baby in the end then it's worth it!

  • I am so jealous seeing all these fur baby pics! DH and I currently live in a condo that doesn't allow pets. I keep telling him we need to move just so I can get a dog!

Feeling pretty sore and crampy after the ER this morning but have been able to manage it with Tylenol so far and haven't needed the pain meds. Don't see myself going to work tomorrow though. Plus I don't think I'd be able to concentrate waiting for the call to see how many of the 21 eggs were mature and fertilized. I'm starting to get anxious about that update.

So I originally thought I didn't have to start the PIO injections until tomorrow and was looking forward to another day of no injections but nope, have to start them tonight. Any tips/tricks for me or DH from those that have taken them?
  • @mtpbadger congrats on such great numbers!! hoping for equally great fertilization rates for you!

Hi everyone, new here I'm currently 5dp3dt.  We transferred 2 8 cell embryos and it feels like it's been 5 months rather than 5 days! I wish everyone the best on here...it's such an emotionally taxing process.  Anyone else have their ET around the 29th of April?

  • Thanks everyone for all the nice thoughts and positive vibes. I made a new plan, eating differently , Chinese herbs, yoga, regular massage continued acupuncture! I'll start again in June with a new protocol that's starts with testosterone and ganirelix, something my RE just went to a conference about. I had only one follie  and my estrogen was only 78, boo. Thinking of doing a 3 day juice cleanse to get this bloating to go away.
i think I'll stick around and see how you ladies do! @mtpbadger hope you feel better and congrats on the great number. Can't wait to here about everyone's betas coming up!

Hi @Tulips29! Remind me where you are in your IVF cycle? I remember reading about your ER, so I'm assuming you're waiting for FET?

@Tusername how are you feeling?? Hope everything went as planned today!

AFM today was an emotional roller coaster! Not sure if it's the Lupron or AF... she's coming around the corner. I just could NOT focus and was irritated with everything and everyone. But now I'm in a fantastic mood! Psh, go figure. Hope everyone else is doing well and recovering quickly!

Thanks for all the well wishes everyone!
My ER went well. The immediate recovery was rough and I got sick all over the floor and on a nurse. I was soooo embarrassed. Within an hour afterwards though I was feeling much much better. Now I am back at home and am feeling very bloated and cramping, but nothing too bad.
26 eggs were retrieved and I should be receiving a call tomorrow to see how many fertilized. I am so relieved to have this part over with and so thankful for all the support on this board!!
@mtpbadger I'm so glad your ER went well too! Stay rested and hydrated! I also will be unable to do a fresh transfer. It's disappointing but I know my dr knows best. Hugs to you.

@kirstencas I'm so sorry your cycle got cancelled.  That absolutely sucks.
@dragonfaerie There are some days that are just crappy and rough family stuff doesn't make it any easier.  Hope things get better for you.
@ultratomato FX for you tomorrow and for an amazing beta!

AFM, looks like I'm triggering tonight for retrieval on Friday AM.  I'm hopeful that things will go well although **TMI alert** I guess I'm super constipated and bloated and have to take an enema today and tomorrow before retrieval.  I'm already pretty uncomfortable so I'm hoping this will make it better but know that it's going to get a little worse before it gets better ;) I'm very thankful today that I have some loose fitting pants to wear to work tomorrow.

@ultratomato FX for your beta tomorrow! I cannot wait to hear the results!
@radmom27 Yay for triggering tonight! Hopefully you'll start to feel more comfortable soon after the retrieval on Friday, and good luck for lots of mature eggs!
  • @radmom27 yay for triggering! Hopefully the enema provides some relief. FX for lots of eggs on Friday!

@tusername I'm sorry you had a rough time after the retrieval but glad you are feeling better. I'm sure the nurses deal with much worse! 26 wow!! That is an awesome number! FX we both get good results tomorrow! Well, looks like we will both be doing FETs so we might just stay cycle buddies! Has your dr given you any info about what your next steps are?
  • I found out today that I need to go on thyroid medication, and they will retest with my beta to determine if the dose needs to be increased.  We decided we will transfer our embryo on the 25th and all of a sudden I am terrified that everything is going to go wrong.  I just keep telling myself to take one day at a time, but damn I forgot the nervousness/ anxiety that comes along with IF treatments.

  • @kirstencas I'm sorry - that sucks, but glad you found out now and not after ER (I've read some posts where girls didn't think they'd been monitored enough or correctly). Glad to hear you have a new plan. I used testosterone cream this cycle for better egg quality. FX it helps us both.

@chicandbubbly and @babylonghorn16 I'm in my second cycle and I don't think you can prevent the bloating belly. But since it's likely mostly water weight (unless your appetite has increased), LOTS of fluids and walking and avoiding salty, fried, and processed foods should help. I drank lots of low sodium broth, coconut water, and plain water. I couldn't leave home without a beverage. Also, if you need it, prunes and Colace or Miralax (both recommended by my RE) helps, especially after ER so you're comfortable. Loose dresses help the most. :)

@chickyclg My RE put me on thyroid meds (levothyroxine) and I was concerned, but have since heard from others going through IF treatment that it's common. Hope it helps us both get and stay KU.

My ER this morning went great. I felt very relaxed and well taken care of. We hoped for 10, but got 14. Last cycle we had 13, but we're hoping for better quality to add to our frosty collection. I had bad cramps when I woke up and during the ride home. Then I slept for 4 hours and felt much better. I craved Mac n cheese and ice cream (foods I haven't touched for two stim cycles, and rarely before that). The worst part was the IV, but that pain should be replaced by a nice bruise soon. Now it feels like I have some internal tenderness when I get up, but it's not bad and I don't even plan to take any pain meds unless I have trouble sleeping tonight. Since I'm doing FET, the nurse said I can take ibuprofen or Excedrin instead of Tylenol or Tylenol 3 if needed. I go back to work tomorrow. Hope you all have equally positive experiences.

What cycle day did you start injections for your ER cycle? My doctor's office told me to stop my birth control on May 1st and when i went in today for my first ultrasound and blood draw they told me to start injections this coming Sunday. I started thinking thia evening that no one asked me what cycle day I'd be on Sunday. Shouldn't i start these on a certain day to give more follicles a channce to mature before ER? Im afraid its going to be cycle day 4 if i start on Sunday, i feel like this is too late? This is my first IVF cycle anf just not sure whats normal. I only want to do ER once due to the cost and hopefully have plenty of embryos to freeze if all goes well.
  • @mntngirl that is awesome you got 14 eggs! Glad you are feeling ok too! Looks like a few of us that had ERs yesterday will be doing FETs. Internal tenderness, that's the perfect way to explain it.

I probably could tolerate going back to work today but have a busy weekend so I figure since I have the sick time I might as well take it and hopefully be able to tolerate doing stuff this weekend a little bit more.

Anxiois to hear how many mature and fertilized everyone has today! FX we all have greats numbers!
  • @MntnGirl nice number good luck keep us posted on there status
  • @babylonghorn16 my transfer is actually tomorrow! I can't believe it and couldn't sleep half the night thinking about it. Ahh! This is definitely an emotional ride, but I'm glad to hear you're feeling better. Hang in there!
@Tusername i'm sorry to hear the retrieval kicked your butt. Hope you're doing well now and relaxing. It's really no joke and I envy the girls who say they feel no pain after and are able to bounce right back to normal.
@radmom27 yay for triggering and your upcoming retrieval! Sending good vibes your way for great results!
@chickyclg fx and prayers for you that nothing goes wrong between now and your transfer. These treatments sure do take a toll on us.
@MntnGirl I'm glad to hear your ER went well and you got some rest after. Fx for great fertilization rates!

  • @MntnGirl Congrats on the 14 eggs! FX that many will be high quality for you to add to your collection! I say go eat all the mac and cheese and ice cream you want! Relax and pamper yourself a bit!
@chickyclg Hopefully that they'll figure out the correct dosage soon for you!
@mtpbadger and @Tusername Excited to hear both of your results! Hope the two of you are both starting to feel better/more comfortable as well!
@Tulips29 YAY for tomorrow! I can't imagine what my feelings/nerves would be once I get to this point. Good luck!!!

AFM - now on BCPs, but had to postpone the meds delivery cause my RE didn't know that the PGD test probe wasn't even started, let alone almost complete! So I'm still stuck in limbo cause a certain family member is still refusing/yanking me around :|  on whether or not she actually ever got tested or will get tested to see if she is also a carrier so the genetics lab can get the probe built. In the meantime, my half-sister and my full sister both got tested this week (half-sister doesn't have insurance, so she had to wait to save up some money before buying the Counsyl test OOP - even though I offered to pay for it, she refused on principle; my full-sister was supposed to get tested last month but her daughter got ill and this week was the next available appointment) so hopefully their two results will be good enough to proceed, so FX that i'll only have to wait 3-4 more weeks to finally start moving forward. All these delays after delays, in my more melancholy moments, makes me wonder if God really ever intended for me to become a mom... :frowning:

  • @caseyw8784 FX that the results of your half and full sisters will be enough! Keep your head up, I think we have all asked ourselves that same question and I just tell myself that God would never deny someone who wants a child so badly and goes through all of this that chance.

@tulips29 wishing you tons of good thoughts for tomorrow!
  • @casey8784 @mtpbadger thank you ladies!!!

@casey8784 the uncertainty and waiting sucks, but I hope that your results come back normal and you can proceed with your cycle! Trust in the higher power and that there is a plan out there for you, it will happen!

  • @KirstenCas I'm so glad you have a plan! Try taking a bath in Epsom salts, that's supposed to help with bloating as well.
@mtpbadger I haven't started PIO yet (tomorrow!) but I've heard don't ice the spot right after cuz it will knot up on you. And my nurse told me today to keep the PIO warm, warm the injection site after, and then after a little bit you could use ice.
@MntnGirl Glad your ER went well! I had mac and cheese for lunch after it too!
@radmom27 I was soooo blocked too during my stims. I was trying to be good and not drink coffee, but a couple days before my ER I broke down and bought a cup of coffee just to get things moving. Hope you feel better!
@caseyw8784 I'm sorry hon, that's so hard to have to wait. But you got this and it will go quick once you get started!
@Tulips29 Tomorrow! Woo! I'm so excited for you!

  • @dragonfaerie the PIO wasn't too bad last night! I iced for a little bit before and stuck the vial in my bra to warm it up. DH did a fantastic job doing the injection and then walked around a bit massaging it and sat on a heating pad for a few minutes. Let's see if it goes as smoothly tonight!
  • @mtpbadger Glad it went well! I don't like not being able to watch injections, even though I know DH does them correctly, so IM shots really freak me out.

@caseyw8784 I agree with mtpbadger that God would not intentionally want anyone to be childless.  Try to stay positive.  I've been reading a psalm and proverb every night to help me relax.

AFM- I had my bloodwork and ultrasound today and I am clear to start stimms tomorrow!  I'm excited, yet nervous.  I also asked the doc about my AMH since it was over 10.  He said I might have a touch of PCOS.  That explains a lot with my cycle being wacky the past few years.  It was always around 32 days but varied a lot.  I'll be doing some research on that in the meantime.
