Over a month ago, DD developed a rash by her mouth. I put hydrocortisone on it and 2 weeks later it was spreading. It's very red with little bumps that almost look like tiny blisters.
I took her to the ped, who said it was a teething rash (though she wasn't drooling) and gave us the same sample that she gave us for DD's dry skin. She also said to put Aquaphor on it.
Two weeks later, the rash continued spreading so I brought her back to ped. Now she says it's a bacterial infection and gave us Metronidazole gel. After a week, it's only looking marginally better.
Ideas?
Re: Anyone's DC have a bacterial infection?
Yup! My baby has had several Impetigo infections on his face due to severe eczema.
It sucks.
When he gets them we use Mupirocin twice daily for 3 days in a row. We also apply Desonide Cream (steroid) twice daily for 5 days.
We try to not use the oral antibiotics for the Impetigo because there are only just 2 or 3 staph infection medicine's available and the body can become immune to them easily.
I would ask the doctor if you could try an RX of the Mupirocin. It works SO good. My son has used the Metronidazole and it didn't work very good at all.
