baby girl has herpangina.. Basically hand foot and mouth that hasn't spread yet she won't take a bottle or nipple shield so I'm braving it with just normal breastfeeding hoping I don't get it too.. Anyone have any experiences? This sucks
Hand foot and mouth disease just went around day care. Luckly our LO got a very mind case. She was fussy for a few days so I wore her a lot which helped keep her happy. DS got it worse, Tylenol helped with the pain and he also ate more after having Tylenol. Hopefully your LO will feel better soon.
DD got that when she was about 3. Since she was eating all solids we just gave her soft foods. I'm not sure what to do about infants with it.
If there's something strange underneath the hood. Who you gonna call? Your Doctor. If there's something weird and it don't look good. Who you gonna call? Your Doctor. Immediately. If it's new, painful, and possibly pregnancy related get your ass off the internet and call your doctor. It's for your health and your child's.

Any tips on giving Tylenol? Baby girl won't swallow it for nothing and ends up gurgling it and choking and it spitting it out.. It's been a nightmare. It's not too bad.. Little red bumps, not blisters or anything... At least not yet. *fingers crossed it stays that way*

The only way it worked for us to give Tylenol was if DS was flat on his back (like on his changing table) and blow lightly on his face after I put the medicine in his mouth (this triggers a swallow reflex)
Sorry you're going through this momma! Hope she gets better soon!

Our little one just had the little bumps too and never got blisters. For Tylenol I agree with the PP to have LO flat on their back (we did it on the activity mat with a burb cloth below her head). I measured out the Tylenol than put it in a cup and used a dropper to just put a little on that back of her tongue (or at least try for the back), then I would wait a little bit and do it again until it was gone. It took forever but she swallowed most of it. I found the dispenser that came with the Tylenol would give her too much at once and she would spit it out. I think the dropper I used came with our gripe water.

Does your little one take a bottle at all? You can either use the small measuring bottles that come with Safety 1st health/grooming kits or add the measured dosage into the nipple of a bottle she will take. Bridget absolutely refuses a dropper.

DS had a nasty case of hand, foot and mouth around 4 months old. It was so bad that we had to feed him with a syringe. That was the only time we ever "co-slept" (I couldn't sleep) cause he just wanted cuddles. Just keep an eye for signs of dehydration because eating less is common. I recommend lots of baby wearing otherwise cause the pain is bad and it helps soothe. DS actually spread it to me (oh yes... Rare but adults can catch it and it sslicks!!!!).

The blowing lightly on her face has worked, thank you so much! Unfortunately now I have it too and I totally understand why she's hesitant to eat. Can't wait for all of this to be over

My little one had a mild case of HFM and she passed it along to me. My mouth is terribly sore from the blisters and my hands are covered and feel as though they are on fire. My questions are: how long did it last for you? Did you have issues with your hands and did you find anything that soothed the pain? I couldn't even shower by myself because the pain is so bad. Forget touching anything hot, or even remotely warm, because it feels like I'm grabbing a hot pan off the stove with no oven mitts.
I am just getting over hand foot and mouth. Benedryl cream really helped for my hands and if someone else can watch baby, I got through it with lots of benedryl pills and basically slept it off. The pain and swelling in my hands only lasted about two days. I now just have what looks like calises on where the bumps were. Also, for your mouth IBProfen and Lysine (a vitamin that helps gum and skin health) help a lot.
