So as I was clipping my 6 month baby girls nails I clipped the tip of her thumb. She cried for like 15 seconds (she's such a strong girl!!) But my guilt is overwhelming I feel terrible...any encouragement would be great...

  • Awhhh trust me you're not alone I've done that before too  cutting baby nails is by far the most terrifying thing ever ... I saw this video on YouTube of a mom suggesting to use nail scissors instead and that has worked so much better for us ... Still terrifying though

Op- it happens, a lot. Try not to feel too bad.

The nail scissors are way easier. We use nail scissors and a battery powered baby nail file.
If I have to use the clippers I wait till he's asleep.
  • I did that in January. Baby cried for a few minutes, but bled for an hour. Dr said to just keep it elevated with pressure and not to worry. Baby was over it before the bleeding stopped, but I'm still queasy when I think of it.  Bottom line: it happens and I feel for you.
  • Thanks everyone! I know I wasn't the first and won't be the last but I still feel the guilt while she still loves me all the same ❤❤
  • I'll look into it thanks!
  • My lil one was over it so quickly meanwhile I felt like crap for hours on end...
  • I will look into the nail scissors thanks!
  • I should probably do the same lol
  • My son is 6 now but when  he was a baby my mom use to bite his nails.

  • I always use a little nail file because I am so nervous! Takes forever but I do it while she is asleep on my lap and I am watching TV
