Im starting my gift registry, and I'm so excited about some of these items! Even if I don't get them as gifts, I'll definitely be buying these. What are your favorites on your registry?
My favorites:
Babybjorn bouncer
Travel Rock and Play
Travel baby tent/bed
Halo bassinet
Temperature reader for water faucet
puj tub
cute mobile and blanket on Etsy
I bought a bunch of used stuff (including cloth diapers) at a yard sale last weekend, so I feel like I can splurge on these things. I'm much more into "make your life easier gadgets" than I am into clothes. But some of the clothes are soooooo cute too!
Re: What is on your registry?
My advice is to register for a range of prices if you expect anyone at all might ask for it. From pacifiers and bottles, toys, tethers, clothes for an idea of your styles, receiving blankets, thermometers all the way on up to something you would never expect anyone to buy you (because discounts at the end!) like the dresser, bigger clothes, a crib. It gives people an option and a bigger idea of what your preferences are.

I would suggest not going crazy registering for a bunch of one particular bottle, as you don't know what your baby might take or if you'll use them at all.
We're also getting nearly all the necessary stuff second hand (we're the last of our friends to have kids), so crib, changing table, bassinets, bouncers, etc. are all already spoken for. And we'll probably get a ton of hand-me down clothes.
I put glass bottles and such on there, because all our friends used plastic. I have a thing about sure, it's BPA-free, but what's the next plastic additive that will be shown to cause cancer?
So mainly there's just crib sheets, swaddling blankets, etc. on our registry... some baby proofing stuff... and a single stroller (I wanted a jogger travel system, which none of our friends have).
Our registry is super boring.

the mother effing blankets. It's so sweet that people want to do that for you (I think?) but omg. What do people think new moms do all day? Wrap everything in blankets while having blanket picnics in the yard? We gave away SO MANY and still have a completely ridiculous number left- and some of them are huge! Like we don't have space for them, but can't get rid of them because they were quilted by aunties and etc.
STM, and I haven't even started a registry. I'll be doing one for the completion coupons, and just in case a loving auntie wants some ideas (but ONLY if they ask me for it first). It'll be mostly replacements for the things that were hardest used by DD, and maybe some "boyish" colors to replace some of the pink if we end up being team blue. We registered all neutral with DD but still ended up with lots of pink and purple

edit to add: the only upside for me with the blanket abundance is that I'm a photographer, so I can use a few of them as props and backdrops. But normal people just do not need 15 baby blankets!

We definitely need to add those things to ours... but I've been putting it off because I find it so stressful figuring out what we need for cloth diapering!
Organizing & planning helps me relax though, & surprise bfp was making me pretty anxious at the time...
I agree with PPs, don't bother registering for blankets or clothes unless there's an outfit that you are dying for. People LOVE buying baby clothes and the blanket phenomenon is real. I saved some to regift to friends so it became their problem, hahaha. I also agree with the baby bottles, sippy cups, and pacifiers. Some babies just won't take certain ones so I'd recommend registering for one or two of each of the top ones you like.
@strickland8052 We LOVED the PUJ so that is an excellent choice, imho. But we also got a water thermometer that really got no use. It was much better for us to touch the water ourselves. The thermometer would claim the water to be too hot, but when we would put her in at the "safe" temp, she would be shivering, even with the wash rag on her belly. That is obviously just totally my opinion, though

Interesting to hear about the blanket phenomenon. MIL has reminded us about 25 times that the baby needs a blanket. It is like she thinks that is the ONLY thing a baby needs to survive.... And that we don't recognize the importance of it? Maybe this is some philosophy that older people have about blankets?
It's a boy!
In terms of SSC (soft structured carriers) I strongly prefer Kinderpacks and Tulas. Ergos are way less comfortable, in my experience. Kinderpacks fit my baby at a younger age, we didn't love using the Tula with her until she was about 6 months but that's pretty much all we use now. I've heard great things about Lillebaby as well, especially in terms of lumbar support.
I also considered the Ergo 360, but felt it was a lot bulkier and less convenient to adjust, and the Lillebaby Complete, but the shoulder straps were just not as comfortable for me.
