Does banana make your DC poop more?

We just started solids and today is day 2 of banana and she's poopin like every time I turn around (4 times today). We're only feeding her breakfast and dinner and it's less then an ounce worth. It's not of a loose consistency so I'm not too worried, but concerned enough to make a post about it!  Should I expect this with all fruits?

  • Nope. Usually kind of stiffens him up.

  • actually bananas constipate DD. We limit her intake, but everyone is different
  • I have only fed DD bananas a few times and never noticed any difference in her.

  • Yes!!!  We've been feeding DS bananas this week and he has been pooping so much that finally today I had the bright idea of putting some oat cereal in the bananas to firm up his poop.  And that worked because we only change one poopy diaper today.  Thank goodness.  Yesterday and the day before he pooped 4 times just in the morning.  I didn't know it could go through them that fast.  I'm waiting to see if pears do the same thing tomorrow.
  • Bananas are usually binding...  if she is pooping more than usual, she may be having a hard time digesting them/have a small intolerance to them.
  • grr I thought bananas were binding, but couldn't remember and now I'm thinking she might have a small intolerance to them like suggested. Grr, I just filled an entire ice cube tray up with "banana/avocado". Maybe she'll tolerate the mixture better?

  • Bananas constipate if you have too much.  Sorry your little one is pooping so much
  • Huh, well good thing we're done with the bananas then.
  • it's part of the brat diet for diarrhea, so i would think that it would do the opposite.  apples/pears usually cause more loose stools.
