Healing down below

so question for those who gave birth already or have previously given birth. This is my first time so I'm just curious how long it took everyone to feel relief down there. I'm 5 days pp and it feels like the pain below is never going to get better!

Re: Healing down below

  • Hang in there! I was about 10 days pp before I stopped taking ibuprofen a couple of times a day. Occasionally it still feels like my stitches are pulling/itching a bit (I'm 15 days pp now) and I'll use some Earth Mama Angel Baby bottom balm on them. It will get better soon!

  • It does get better.  With DD1 it took me almost a month to start to feel relief.  With DD2 it was a matter of hours.  Like pregnancy, everyone is different.

  • It's been a week for me and it is still bad but it gets slightly better every day.

6 wks with DS1 (tear, permanent nerve damage), 5 min with DD2 (I kid you not), I'm feeling healed this morning after giving birth to DS2 at 2:15 last night. It can vary greatly depending on how your birth went. I chose to go epi free with baby #3 and was so pleased with the resulting recovery that I knew I had to do it again with #4.

  • I'm 2 weeks pp, I feel as though I have a yeast infection... I took canesten but still feel a little sensitive there so also thinking I'm allergic to the pads I'm using? I switched brands this morning... Anyone else in the same boat... My tailbone is also sore, is that normal? I'm a ftm so this is all new to me... Other than those 2 things I'm recovering pretty well considering I had a vacuum assisted birth and 3rd degree tears :)
  • I felt better as soon as the swelling went down. With this birth, that took about a week. I'm now 2 wks pp and feel pretty much normal aside from some irritation when I go to the bathroom.
  • My first like a day and my second immediately. Second was epidural-less.

i know, not helpful. Feel better!
  • I'm 3 weeks pp and its definitely getting better, but not back to normal yet. I had a second degree tear, and I think around 10 days is when I really turned a corner and could laugh, cough, and go to the bathroom without wanting to cry.

  • I felt a lot better after a few days, and I only needed ibuprofen for about a week. I had a vacuum assisted birth with a second degree tear. I'm 4 weeks PP now and feel great! Hang in there, it will get better soon!
  • It took me about 6 wks.  Witch hazel and an ice pack help me be a little comfortable.

  • I had a cesarean 2 weeks ago and I'm still bleeding a little and I feel a tad uncomfortable entry so often but I'm seeing major progress!

  • I am 2.5 weeks pp. And I feel completely normal but I didn't have any tearing. I stopped bleeding around day 11 or 12 and I was cleared to work out already.

The pain will get better, stay on top of your stool softeners and pain meds.

  • With my first, I think it took a good 2 weeks before I felt nearly "normal" again. I had a few stitches and a 1st/2nd degree tear. Don't be afraid to use ice packs and ibuprofen as much as you need to!

  • @nicoledifronzo I'm allergic to almost all of them except stayfree. My son is allergic to pampers diapers. We don't do well with mesh lining,

I say I was feeling completely normal by begining of week three. Well... Except some pulling and itching of my stitches. Almost week four and the only thing that really hurts are my nipples
