After ET does anyone eat certain foods or stay away from foods

hey everyone I have read different things you should eat like pineapple and pineapple core and to stay away from caffeine. Anyone have personal experiences that they believed help during implantation

Re: After ET does anyone eat certain foods or stay away from foods

  • Hey! Not that this will be super helpful to you Hahaa but I continued with caffeine although I normally drink a cup and a half a day so not that much anyway. And I didn't eat sushi but that's about it. I continued with my normal routines although my doc told me to stop exercising which annoyed me but it did get me a bfp. I drank wine after ET too just two glasses for two nights. I didn't want to stop my life completely before I'm even pregnant and knew that wine or anything else is not going to make me not get pregnant.
  • I asked my RE about caffeine and alcohol- I have abstained from alcohol during the 2ww for all IUI's. My Dr told me to stop drinking alcohol when I start stims for IVF. She said caffeine is fine in small amounts I think she said 2 cups of coffee max. (I have 2 cups daily of half caf/half decaf... I may try to stick to 1 cup after ET). I guess do what you think is best, there are some people that say NO caffeine whatsoever.

I am planning to do the pineapple thing- you cut up a pineapple core and eat 1 piece for 5 days after ET. Probably just a wives' tale but why not try it?

I have heard that warm foods are better then cold- i.e. cooked veggies instead of raw, but no idea if that is actual truth or not. There is definitely a lot of conflicting info out there.

  • Okay, I clearly have never cut up a whole pineapple before, so I'm going to ask a dumb question: is the pineapple core different than the meat that you usually eat? I was just going to go buy a can of pineapple pieces but it sounds like maybe I need to buy a whole one?

  • @dragonfaerie the core is the middle that is usually cut out cause it's hard and bitter
  • @ultratomato Ahhh, okay, thanks!

  • @dragonfaerie I know that my grocery store sells just the core in a plastic container. It's fresh pineapple not canned. You could maybe check that out. So much simpler than getting a whole pineapple and cutting it. Haha
  • @dragonfaerie You can also get this nifty little pineapple corer at Target, Walmart, Kmart, etc. that's under $10 and it cuts the pineapple all nice and neat and separates the core. I got one for my wedding shower and it is honestly one of the best things I've ever gotten! It makes cutting up pineapple so easy! It looks like you get it at the restaurant, all in the curly-q thing and then I just cut the core into 5 separate pieces. My DH had put it in a smoothie for me after my IUIs. It's a lot tougher than the good part so it can be tough to eat.

For my IUI's I have eaten the pineapple core, walnuts, and have kept my feet warm (warm feet = warm and cozy uterus supposedly). My RE said to not go crazy on the alcohol but a drink here or there with dinner wouldn't hurt anything.

  • I've heard about the pineapple core as well. It can't hurt, right? I already told DH that we'll be buying a few pineapples at Costco right before my ET so I can stock up and eat away
Is it a few pieces a day or like half of the core per day? Need to know how many pineapples to buy at once!

  • @tulips29 I read that you split the core into 5 pieces and eat one piece a day starting the day after transfer. I ended up going through two pineapples after each IUI. Be warned though, if you end up eating a lot of the good part of the pineapple, it acts as a natural laxative!

  • So I just stopped by Home Goods on my way home and lo and behold, there was a lone pineapple corer sitting there waiting for me. Like it was a sign! I snatched that bad boy up and now I'm ready for my transfer and that pineapple!

@chicandbubbly that post is great, thanks for posting! Reading through some of the comments on one of her posts, someone wrote she got a BFP each cycle when she ate pineapple + brazil nuts. Gotta get me some of those too!

That was a really great article - the only thing is that if you eat to your blood type - having all those pepper varieties can be bad for some blood types. My blood type does not like them or "nightshade" variety of anything. Which stinks because I love pickled peppers and tomatoes!

I adore pineapple, after each IUI I ate it religiously. It makes me chuckle thinking of all the bloggers who love to take selfies with pineapples because they are "fun", I'm sitting here thinking it's a super good in my world, not just fun!

not a selfie, but it's about ready to be sliced. I just eat and entire 1/2" slice for the 5 days following transfer. *edited: the picture of my pineapple would not upload*

  • @vssbrmWeird about the pop ups. Interesting about eating for your blood type. I have never heard of that!! I will have to look into it.

  • @chicandbubbly deffinetly look into it. Eating for your blood type can help many things in your body, for me it is particularly my liver function. And the liver is closely related to fertility and health of the blood flow to the uterus. I have some papers from my acupuncturist that are more detailed and offer more that I can remember right now. I can scan in tomorrow and share. It's just a brief overview, but very interesting.
