Hi. I'm new.

Hi! I'm 38, DH is 43, married 5 years and we've been TTC #1 for four months (though the first two months were really just NTNP). I had unusual (for me) symptoms last cycle (cramping at 9dpo and sore boobs about a week earlier than usual and I got all excited and blah blah blah), but AF arrived the day I was planning to test. I consider myself reasonably well-informed and not particularly naive, but MAN have I had some weird moments of being over-hopeful or just plain clueless. DH is being great about just going with the flow for now and not letting me get too dramatic. I've been learning a lot by lurking over the past few days and reading about other people's journeys. I was super happy to find a group for ladies who are, as I describe myself, "not exactly 26."
I'm also a writer, a performer and a new homeowner. My only vice is jellybeans.

@Vastra welcome! I haven't been on here too long but everyone's so supportive, good luck to you on the journey! I unfortunately know all too well that feeling of excitement, only to be greeted by AF...it sucks.

Hello and welcome! I can relate to much of what you described...it doesn't matter how in the know you are in life, this particular subject makes me feel so incredibly stupid, ridiculous, and sometimes just totally BSC. I guess also because of our age, you'd think we'd know better/more, but if you've never TTC before, then how could you possibly know some of this stuff? Today is my one year anniversary of home ownership, so welcome to the club! I try not to share too many of my BSC moments with H so as to not freak him out. This board is good for letting some of that out! I wish you lots of luck!

Hi @Vastra. I totally get how that feels. I even tested earlier than I knew I should have this cycle due only to inflated hopes. It's also amazing, how much you learn about yourself and your body going through TTC. Congratulations to you and @jennh75b to being homeowners!

Welcome! And I will echo what others have said, I'm a nurse, so I'm pretty well informed, yet still get my hopes up each month when I feel something odd, different, or new. I have come to enjoy that "I could be pregnant right now!" feeling

my SO and I just bought a house ourselves (and I am waiting to close on the sale of my first home next week!). So congrats!

Hopefully your stay here is short, but if not you will find this a great place to suffer through all the two week waits to come
