Re: Abnormal pap! Help!

  • I don't have any experience with this, and I'm not sure I remember it coming up with any of the regular posters, but maybe someone will pop by who has experience. I know someone on my BMB had this happen--maybe try your BMB since it'll have a larger pool of women?

  • I've had this diagnosis while not pregnant (not super helpful I know). They had to do a LEEP procedure on me where they remove the affected cells from the cervix. It was a super simple procedure and I just needed a local for the pain. Id find out how big the affected area was. if its small they might be able to remove the affected cells without much risk to the pregnancy. Id also ask your doctor what the risks were with waiting until after you gave birth to have the procedure done. I'm sure they can give you lots of good info.Sorry you are going through this. Good luck!
  • Thanks @rspalding001
i went to see a gyn/ oncologist and he's comfortable waiting it out. When I had colpo w gyno he found a small affected area that he biopsied. That came back CIN 2/3 but when I went back to the gyn/ oncologist my cervix was completely normal. He doesn't know if it was all removed or not during biospy but he's comfortable waiting until after I deliver to do a come biopsy. Going to get a second opinion in the mean time with another gyn/ oncologist just to put my mind at ease.. Just waiting for my insurance authorization. Thanks for responding! I'm desperate to hear others' stories!
  • I was diagnosed prior to becoming pregnant.  I actually had my third leep procedure just a few months before conceiving.  I definitely don't think they would do anything while pregnant.  It is really risky to be playing with the cervix.  He wants to do a cone biopsy?  I would definitely see if a leep could get it all.  Cone biopsy's are more aggressive and make you at higher risk for issues during any future pregnancies if you are planning them.  It is the difference between cutting a cone out of your cervix, and scraping away just the bad cells.
