Summer nights

what is everyone planning on doing for these warmer nights coming up as far as pjs for LOs? Right now my son sleeps in a sleeveless sleep sack and has a small fan for white noise. He also refuses to sleep without a blanket. So I'm not sure what to put him in when it starts to get a lot warmer. We don't like to use our ac all that much. I don't really want him to just sleep in a diaper because my sister always did that with my niece and she's 3 now and refuses to wear clothes.
Also what is a safe way to help with mosquitos/bugs? I've always been told no bug spray or deet for them until they're so what's a good way to ward them off?

Re: Summer nights

  • I've been wondering the same about night time clothes, she has been wearing fleece onesies but lately I feel like that's too hot. I have one cotton shirt and pants set so I've just been washing that a lot.

My ped told us bug spray is OK, I'm a little skeptical though. I have an all natural bug spray I use for myself (sandlewood and citronella oil, basically), it works well, just have to reapply often. I think I might use that for her too, unless the bugs are really bad here this summer.

  • I believe they have cotton sleep sacks. We plan on doing light cotton footed pajamas, but we also plan to have the air on since my DH had a freak out moment because he read they shouldn't sleep in rooms that are warmer than 74° (win win for me since I hate sleeping when it's hot anyway)

Omgosh. My husband read the same thing and is insisting on keeping the temperature set at 68 degrees. I've been freezing for the last 6 months. OP maybe you could just put him in a light long sleeve onesie and a thin sleep sack.
  • We've got short sleeve cotton zip jammies and cotton sleep sacks. Also have the fan on and she sleeps fine.
  • Short sleeve jammies and the cotton SwaddleMe things fastened under her armpits.  Halo makes a muslin sleep sack, if she seems sweaty I'll get one or 2 of those.  We also keep a window open that's not near her bassinet.

  • I read big spray is ok as long as it's under a certain percent of deet
  • LO has fleece and cotton pj's. I was a Kohls yesterday buying pj's in the next size and I discovered that they have super lightweight footed pj's. They're almost moisturizer wicking thin. I was buying in 12 month so I'm not sure if they are in the smaller sizes.
  • A onesie is what our LO sleeps in. Just a thin  onesie. She gets aggravated otherwise
  • Thank you @VexedMommy that song is now playing in my head and I want to watch grease lol
